CLT123: Since 2008 Nigeria have been playing to their competition so this game will be closer than people expect. Rarely is Nigeria blown out or blows out an opponent.Predicted a close match Game vs Mali will be close too |

Bigo8291: Why are Nigerians so jealous, what about Nigeria against Ethiopia. You guys were awarded two penalty but I didn't see any nigerian crying about officiating.Nigeria dominated every team they played they just couldn't score much goals. Cape Verde dominated Ghana |
Ghana sucks |
"In any case, it appears Mikel WILL feature against CIV. That's the word coming" - Colin Udoh |
Ivory Coast is beatable |
Since 2008 Nigeria have been playing to their competition so this game will be closer than people expect. Rarely is Nigeria blown out or blows out an opponent. Look at the 2010 World Cup for example and 2013 AFCON. Close matches vs all our opponents no matter their skill level. |
I just ran to the market and bought two caluclators |
Baba419: how sure are you about that given the fact thet ethopia is the lowest on the group with -goal margin. A win for nigeria of the same margin as a win for zambia would knock us out aint it?Top 2 teams in each group qualify |
All Nigeria needs is a win to reach the quarterfinals |
TB Joshua predicted 1-1 |

Wish Odemwingie was included |
Defender Danny Shittu has been recalled to the Nigeria squad ahead of next month's African Nations Cup. But striker Osaze Odemwingie has been ignored in what could signal the beginning of the end of the West Brom forward's international career. Also out is left back Taye Taiwo, who has also been overlooked since a Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda. Shittu has not been involved with the Super Eagles since Samson Siasia's last game in charge, a friendly against Ghana in which he was called up as a back-up. But with recent defensive frailties, Stephen Keshi has called up the 32-year-old to bolster his defensive options. However, with a surfeit of attacking riches, Keshi appears to have decided against the outspoken Odemwingie. The squad is composed of 14 domestic league professionals and 18 from the foreign legion. The squad will be led by skipper Joseph Yobo, who has appeared five previous tournaments from 220 to 2010 and is Nigeria's record international player with 89 caps. All 16 participating countries have until midnight of January 9 to submit their final list of 23 players to CAF. NFF executive committee member Barrister Chris Green explained that 14 home boys will travel to Portugal to be joined by 10 overseas-based professionals for the clash with Catalonia on January 2, with the remaining eight foreign-based stars to link up with the squad on January 4. THE FULL LIST OF PLAYERS: Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel); Austin Ejide (Hapoel Be’er Sheba, Israel); Chigozie Agbim (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria); Daniel Akpeyi (Heartland FC, Nigeria) Defenders: Elderson Echiejile (FC Braga, Portugal); Juwon Oshaniwa (Ashdod FC, Israel); Benjamin Francis (Heartland FC, Nigeria); Joseph Yobo (Fenerbahce, Turkey); Efe Ambrose (Celtic FC, Scotland); Solomon Kwambe (Sunshine Stars, Nigeria); Azubuike Egwuekwe (Warri Wolves, Nigeria); Danny Shittu (Millwall FC, England); Kenneth Omeruo (ADO Den Haag, Netherlands); Godfrey Oboabona (Sunshine Stars, Nigeria) Midfielders: Mikel Obi (Chelsea FC, England); Nosa Igiebor (Real Betis, Spain); Ogenyi Onazi (SS Lazio, Italy); Raheem Lawal (Adana Demirspor, Turkey); Obiora Nwankwo (Calcio Padova, Italy); Fegor Ogude (Valerenga FC, Norway); Reuben Gabriel (Kano Pillars, Nigeria); Rabiu Ibrahim (Celtic FC, Scotland) Forwards: Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow, Russia); Brown Ideye (Dynamo Kyiv, Ukraine); Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England); Uche Kalu (Rizespor, Turkey); Bright Dike (Portland Timbers, USA); Shola Ameobi (Newcastle FC, England); Ikechukwu Uche (Villarreal FC, Spain); Ejike Uzoenyi (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria); Sunday Mba (Enugu Rangers, Nigeria) |
Valerenga midfielder Fegor Ogude has been called up to join the squad of domestic League professionals as Nigeria begin preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Stephen Keshi, who returned to the country from the United States on Tuesday, also named the usual suspects in goal: Chigozie Agbim, Daniel Akpeyi and new call-up Femi Thomas of Enyimba FC. The Nations Cup in South Africa starts January 10, 2013. The team is expected at its usual abode at the Bolton White Apartment, Zone 7, Abuja on Sunday, December 16. All players and officials are expected on that date and training will effectively start on Monday, December 17. The list of foreign-based players will probably be named in the week leading to Christmas, as the team is expected to travel by December 27 for the final phase of its camp in Faro, Portugal. Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi has been handed a first time Nigeria call-up by coach Stephen Keshi. Ameobi was cleared to play for Nigeria last year alongside Victor Moses, but has missed out so far mostly due to injury. The 31-year-old is one of 11 Europe-based players named by the Nigeria coach for a friendly match against Venezuela next week in Miami, Florida. Ameobi, cleared to play for Nigeria last year alongside Victor Moses after a long-drawn process, gets his first call and battles for a place upfront with Moses, Ukraine-based Brown Ideye, Martins and a trio of home boys. The 11 will join 26 professionals from the domestic league who have been battling it out in camp in Abuja since Sunday, from among whom 15 will be picked for the trip to America. Wednesday's match at Marlins Park is one of a number of games meant to prepare the two-time African champions for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals in South Africa, starting on January 19. Israel-based goalkeeper Austin Ejide, a 10-year veteran, tops the list that also includes 2010 World Cup star Obafemi Martins. Surprise call-up is former junior international defender Apam Onyekachi, back from injury at Nice FC of France, with Portugal-based defender Elderson Echiejile also heading to America. Chelsea FC of England star and Nigeria's only last-man standing in the Africa Player of the Year race, Mikel Obi tops a midfield cast that includes former junior international Raheem Lawal, Ogenyi Eddy Onazi and Nosa Igiebor.
