Does anybody know the time of the match? |
You know that? What are you talking about. Mikel said it himself. "We have dropped Mikel from the World Cup squad after he told the team he did not want to put his career at risk" |
Ideye Brown replaces MikelNo Jay Jay Okocha to replace Mikel |
CLT I think Brown Ideye is a centre forward not a Midfielder. He plays midfield for his club |
Sochaux midfielder Brown Ideye has been called up to replace John Mikel Obi, who has been ruled out of the World Cup with an ankle problem "Mikel suffered a bruise to his ankle and a scan showed that he will not recover on time," Media Officer Idah Peterside told KickOffNigeria.com. "The coach has now decided to call up Brown Ideye to replace him." Mikel had knee surgery last month to repair a torn meniscus and was expected to be out for two weeks. He was left out of Nigeria's friendly match against Colombia by coach Lars Lagerback, who explained that the move was only precautionary and trained with the rest of the squad on Friday. Most professional footballers are quite passionate about representing their countries at the WC2010. Even the aspiring ones talk about flying the flag if given the chance. Do you think he'd gladly give up his role knowing he could manage the injury?Look at Mikel's career. He has been known for not being patriotic about his country. The guy did not want to play for Nigeria in the olympics. Im not saying the guy is not injured. Im just saying his injury is not bad enough that he will miss the World Cup. Look at Drogba. He wants to play with a broken elbow. |
We have dropped Mikel from the World Cup squad after he told the team he did not want to put his career at risk. The guy is not injured. He is scared or reinjuring it. I wont be suprised if someone from Chelsea called him and pursuaded him not to play for Nigeria. |
What time is the match?? |
If Lagerback is smart. He will start Yakubu and Martins |
French media sources have performed a swift u-turn on the news that Didier Drogba has been ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a fractured elbow in the first 20 minutes of Cote d’Ivoire’s friendly encounter with Japan in Sion, Switzerland earlier today. L'Equipe and Canal+ both claimed that the Chelsea striker's hopes of playing had completely vanished after Ivory Coast boss Sven-Goran Eriksson had earlier confirmed the injury and admitted he was "concerned" about his skipper's hopes of competing in South Africa. However, L'Equipe has now proclaimed that Drogba will undergo surgery and could be fit in ten days. Indeed, the publication goes as far to say that "[Drogba] could well participate in the first match for the Elephants, which is against Portugal on June 15." With only a quarter of an hour gone in the game, Drogba clashed with Japanese defender Tulio, leaving him a little dazed. Tulio, the scorer of both a goal and an own goal against England last week, went for the ball with his leg raised, while Drogba's right arm came up simultaneously. The resulting collision between the Ivorian's elbow and Tulio's knee was purely accidental, but the Chelsea forward was ultimately withdrawn due to the injury. CSKA Moscow’s Seydou Doumbia was quickly brought into the frey. Drogba, who is rated as the third best player in the world by the Castrol Rankings, had already made his influence tell in the early stages of the game, when his free kick was deflected home by Brazilian-born Tulio. Despite the loss of Drogba, the Ivorians went on to win the game, which was played over three 45 minute periods, 2-0, though they will not relish a trip to South Africa without their recognised star forward. http://www.goal.com/en/news/1863/world-cup-2010/2010/06/04/1958629/world-cup-2010-didier-drogba-world-cup-2010-cote-divoires-didier- |
MILITO – 30 GOALSMessi is not that Lethal when he plays for Argentina. Obafemi Martins has a better goal ratio than Messi. Messi has 13 goals in 44 matches for Argentina while Martins has 16 goals in 31 matches for Nigeria |
The Nigeria Colombia game was 1-1 |
Lagerback should starts Martins and Yakubu in the World Cup. The last time they were in the field at the same time Nigeria scored 3 goals in that half. |
I wish Lagerback starts Martins and Yakubu in the World Cup. The last time they were in the field at the same time Nigeria scored 3 goals in that half. |
