Mujtahida: Imagine eating rice and Garri. That's how tepid Rohr's team is. No verve, no flow. Just cut and join. But it wasn't like this during the WCQ. I don't know what happened to him afterwards
It's because the teams in our WCQ group didn't park the bus against us. Burundi, Guinea, Madagascar parked the bus, but Cameroon didn't. That's why we looked like the Nigeria of old in the Cameroon match.
gamaliel9: Physically the Cameroonians came out tops with high ball....we are stronger than South Africans....
Watching our last goal against Cameroon....i like the way the trio of Ighalo,Chukwueze and Etebo charged down Cameroonians defenders...they made a mistake...haha...and paased to Etebo who quickly for Ighalo....the rest is....
OlujobaSamuel: If we all are after the score sheet, Livescore is always there to answer us. Holland 2005 during Mikel and his team days, I cried when we lost to Argentina be we all can see that the team played well, Korea Japan wordcup nko, we took on England, Sweden in a beautiful way, don't even talk about Atlanta and other old times, now compare the anywhere belle face game they play now to those games
Why are you comparing age grade competitions to the senior level? Are we not playing better than what we showed at the 2002 and 2010 world cup?
TruthinAction: Yes, he is. He has better players than the other coaches. I will do better than him if given the opportunity. Coaching is simply intelligence and he doesn't have it. He does not know when to change a player. When he does change, he sometimes brings in the wrong player. In addition, he plays them in the wrong role. Unless you are a complete novice in football. Those who understand soccer know what I am saying.
The same Siasia that starts a game with 5 forwards and only 2 midfielders? The Siasia who doesn't know what the meaning of defense is? The Siasia who doesn't know how to kill a game which led to Egypt scoring late to end our hope of qualifying for AFCON? The Oliseh that huffed and puffed and drew Swaziland of all teams? Did those two qualify for AFCON? Did Siasia, Lagerback not have prime Mikel, Yakubu, Martins, Osaze, Yobo at their disposal? Did Rohr not use Oliseh's team to qualify for World Cup with ease in arguably the toughest group in CAF WCQ history?
TruthinAction: I understand your point but Rohr is the worst coach we ever had. In addition, when it comes to critical competitions like the world cup, foreign coaches exhibit some sentiments in favour of their whites. I have observed it in most world cup matches. Racism still exists and they feel it when a black Africa team defeats a white team especially the popular ones.
To buttress my point, Westerhof no doubt was one of the best coach we ever had but he contributed to our lost against Italy. You might want to ask how. When the eagle's defense was under pressure the last five minutes of the game, he was so relaxed. A concerned coach will either make a change and bring in a defender and remove an attacker. The second option was to yell at the boys. He did none of this. I can recount other world cup I noticed similar things.
What we are seeing from Rohr is a far cry from what we expected. There is no flow in the game so far. Please try and download Samuel Chukwueze skills on you tube. The boy is just too good. That's the way he plays in his club and he is giving them results. If he doesn't like his dribbling skills, he shouldn't have invited him. Even when he played for the u17 team, that's how he plays. Messi today became famous for his dribbling skills. So why destroy the rare gift we have in our team. He has an advantage even over Jay Jay because of speed. The couch should just allow the boy to flow. The white world doesn't want to see another USA 94 team. We were nightmare to them. The young talents we have can produce even a better team but Rohr says no. We don't want him even if we win the cup. Luck has been our friend so far. Let's see if it will favour us in the next game. For now, we don't have a team we can beat our chest on.
This post is a lie. You're saying Rohr is worse than Oliseh, Siasia, Lagerback, etc.? I question the mental capacity of some of you.
forgiveness: Can you please remind me of any of his deadly freekick that almost led to a goal because I can't remember one?
It was for that reason Etebo took over from him. I guess?
However, I can still remember Victor Moses's cross that found Balogun though he didn't score.
At least, I remembered one or two Victor handled well.
Maybe you watched a different match.
Etebo was the taker of left side free kicks. None of Iheanacho kicks were close to being a goal but at least his kicks made it to some of our players. Moses kicks them out of the box.
It's better like this because when we defend, the defense will form a paralle line with five players while Victor and Ahmed defend on the wings.
Iheanacho is needed. Against Iceland we finally had decent corners and we all know how deadly he is from free kicks. Do you still want Moses handling our set pieces?
fabyom: how many minutes? He started against Poland, Congo came in against Czech and Croatia. That is 230/360 minutes without a goal and only one shot on target.
80 mins vs Poland 45 mins vs DRC (in a bumpy pitch. Provided an assist) 13 mins vs England 10 mins vs Czech 18 mins vs Croatia
I’m not sure how that equals 230 or 360.
Don’t forget Iheanacho had a goal and two assists vs Argentina.
fabyom: baba but Iheanacho too has not scored for us recently and I think Etebo on the LWB will compliment Ogu. I opt for Ogu cos of his composure and physical presence. Vicmo is not discipline in SE jersey so playing him as R/LWB will be suicidal.
TheSuperNerd: How long did Oliseh stay on the job? Didn't he resign?
He did it against Cameroon. Against Swaziland and against another African opposition whose name I would recall in time but not now... All in his short controversial reign.
But with Rohr, we simply have not seen same improvement even against African sides. I am not even talking Europeans.
Two scans in Uyo and Abuja have ruled him out, but oga/NFF want to be stubborn and go to London, for what?
Even if the London scan doesn't rule him out entirely, he will probably be on the sidelines long enough to miss two games, so, why must he occupy space nitori olorun?
Smh without Simon Moses we will be down to one backup winger. How can a team go into the world cup with only 3 wingers? Imagine if Moses or Iwobi gets injured...
Home Nigeria Nigeria John Ogu, Etebo & Iheanacho Will Play Against Algeria – Eagles Coach Rohr Suggest October 9, 2017010
A much changed but strong senior national team of Nigeria will be lined up by coach Gernot Rohr when the Eagles take on Algeria in their final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers in Algiers.
Nigeria are already through to the World Cup in Russia courtesy of their 1-0 win over Zambia on Saturday in Uyo, but Rohr insist they will approach the game with the seriousness it deserves.
A whole lot of players will be given the chance to showcase themselves in the game according to Rohr as he wants to provide every player with a chance to stake a claim for a start.
It means players like John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Anthony Nwakaeme and co who have been frozen out of the starting line up are going to be strong contenders to start in Algiers.
” We never go to a match with second team, we want to win our last match as well. At least not to lose so we can qualify without losing any game, it will be wonderful this is another challenge but I think we will play a second friendly game perhaps in Morocco to see all the players who couldn’t play in our previous games”, the coach said.

Iheanacho won't do well with Etebo playing the #10 role.
