The thing with religious people is that we never see how we’re the oppressors. Imagine if another group of people (atheists for example) had taken billions that belonged to everyone to fund a belief/non-belief based activity that doesn’t serve the general population. Imagine how they’d be crying about how the ends times have come and immorality is here to stay. Bla bla bla.

But these guys comfortably took billions that tax payers contributed just to fund their religious activity. No one even sees the real irony in that. The only anger is because there’s no money in the land. When we should both be angry at not only the misused funds but the audacity as well

My kids are thriving in California.

It’s a wonderful place. Every single question about sexuality I’ve been the one to educate my kids first before they even have a chance of learning about it outside.

They’re not going out there to have teachers tell them “you have to join the LGBTQ gang”. That’s something that simply doesn’t happen. Don’t let republicans propaganda get to you.

If you’re unlucky and your girl child gets raped in a red state, they’re working to ban contraception and abortion. I know a lot of people are anti abortion but they would be willing to treat a raped child so the kid doesn’t get pregnant from the rape. Republicans are working on banning contraceptives so that raped children will get pregnant for their rapists and birth the rape babies

Some republicans are proposing death sentences for children and women who have abortions regardless of the circumstances. So your 13 year old child is raped, is forced to carry and birth the rape baby or be put to death. That’s what we’re voting for? Because we don’t like gay people?

Washington state is my home state and now I’m currently a Californian by temporary residence. I’ve only ever visited Nevada (Vegas things) otherwise I don’t have real experience in Nevada.

I’ve also lived in some red states due to the nature of my families nomadic lifestyle grin

Let me tell you there’s no comparison. Literally none. The quality of life is unmatched. What red states have over these places is propaganda. They know that if they pluck those cords that harmonize with the parts of our hearts that prioritizes God and religion, they can use propaganda all day everyday to mask how they are the worst places to live in. Slave wages, anti worker policies, weak infrastructure, deep deep rooted racism that their judges have no problems publicly expressing. They still hunt & hang black people, rule it suicide and everyone turns a blind eye.

What Californians and Washingtonians ask is that everyone be treated equally. You can go to church without harassment, you can express your personal faith without harassment, you can love your God vocally without harassment. You can literally do anything you want that pertains to your faith in your own life and no one will ever bat an eye. But you’re prohibited from harassing others in the same way that you’re protected from harassment. This is the part the republicans don’t like and that’s why they come up with the tall tales they spread online.

The Washington republicans especially are very rabid about their hate for LGBTQ people that’s why they spread lies about how kids are being indoctrinated. Teachers aren’t even allowed to talk to kids about their sexuality. So where’s the indoctrination?

Never ever in all my years of living in these places has one LGBTQ person came up to me or my kid to talk about sexuality or anything pertaining to it. I don’t want to know about it and they keep their business to themselves. What more can one reasonably ask for?

Personally I’m with this ruling. If a child’s parents can’t tell that their child is transgender, there must be something wrong at home. At best, It shows a serious lack of involvement from the parent. At worst there may other bigger issues at play.

So it’s best for the child to be the one to tell their parents when they feel safe to do so. If your kid doesn’t you (generic), as a teacher I won’t feel it wise to trust you either until I know why that kid doesn’t feel safe with you.

If you're ever to japa to the US, stay far away from woke states like California, Washington State, Nevada etc. They are completely expunging parents rights on their own children and indoctrinating them with all sorts of LGBT nonsense. Even their kindergarten books have LGBT contents in them. Southern states like Tennessee, Alabama, Florida etc are still conservative to some extent. Not like there are no LGBT stuffs there, at least they're not shoving their doctrines down children's throat...Yet!

A parent should know if their child is transgender or not. If you’re relying on the school to tell you whether the child you birthed and live with is transgender or not, then there’s something ridiculously wrong with that relationship. Don’t blame the school. Blame your uninvolved parenting style.

Since you yourself left your country, should we say you’re not brilliant because you didn’t stay to fix things? And let me get you correctly, only Igbo people are the ones complaining of racism in America? Of all the minorities from all over the world who experience racism and talk about it, only Igbo people are the ones you singled out to disparage? I don’t know where this is coming from but it’s very surprising to say the least.

Apart from politics of economics, you can’t think of any other reason why anyone would hate the Republican Party? Even though you have women in your family who (if the repubs have their way) would be relegated back to bare foot and pregnant needing a man’s signature to own property or bank accounts. That Republican Party?

It really tells a lot when people disregard important issues because they feel it doesn’t affect them directly therefore there’s nothing wrong with it. Are you not paying attention or do you just not care? Project 2025?

Not to mention that you’re the one spouting republican propaganda in the name of facts. This is Not to minimize the problem that black men were and are to their communities. That’s a topic for another day. But as long as we are being sincere about race, you have adopted the slave masters point of view on this issue.

Welfare destroyed black families even though white families received more welfare? I’m sure it had nothing to do with the imprisonment of black fathers. Some for the mere possession of weed while the same white people own weed dispensaries today. They pumped crack into the black communities and locked them up for it but white people are receiving help for opioid dependence. This same system is the one that’s not rigged?

You don’t think the low rate of black ownership of homes has anything to do with race? Prejudiced Lending practices? Employment bias based on trumped up criminal convictions? Young children railroaded into jail and prison so that they have a criminal record by the age of 21 and thus have limited employment opportunities and thus low income prospects which then cascades into poverty in their future?

Yet there’s no system racism. Indeed

Just because you are successful doesn’t negate these facts. Being successful can’t make me blind to the truth. And The truth is that the effects of white people’s colonialism is still remnant in our minds until today. That’s why a lot of us overlook the things they do. And you don’t understand why African Americans can’t do the same.

White people are worshiped in your country Nigeria when they live there but treat us like crap when they can get away with it and your solution is for us to be grateful because they allowed us into a country that doesn’t even belong to them. This was not on my bingo card for 2024.

IbeOkehie:
Ma'm, substantially all you've said above is wrong, I don't even know where to begin. I'll pick just two.

(1) If my friend is so brilliant, why didn't he stay in his own country and make it better?

OK, if we can justify his coming here, can we justify him now calling the country racist, the same country that admitted him and gave him opportunity? I repeat, Igbo people have a high tendency to gleefully make fools of other people and exploit their kindness and fairness. We both know the high levels of fake marriages to Black American women for Green Cards and many other forms of cheating the system.

(2) In an earlier post and in this immediate one, you keep blaming Republicans for economic woes in the USA. We can agree that the Great Recession of 2008 was an economic calamity. Here is what caused it -

https://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html

The Democrat Clinton Administration claimed that racism was preventing Black Americans and Hispanics from buying homes. So he enacted new rules FORCING banks to use LOWER CREDIT STANDARDS in granting loans so that generally poorer non-White Americans could benefit.

So many Blacks and other Americans rushed to buy homes. The Democrat made regulations were so bad that they inspired NINJA loans. Eventually many people couldn't repay the loans and banks crashed and took the rest of the economy with them.

An interesting thing is that Black Americans had the HIGHEST DECREASE in homeownership during the Great Recession. Worse, our home ownership rates today are LOWER than before the crisis. Every other race has recovered and surpassed their pre-Crisis home ownership rates.

Reminds me of how Democrats destroyed Black American families with welfare programs starting in the 1960s.

Carry on though. I hope you look into this topic and understand what the issues are.

Good Luck to Nigerians.

People like him and Madam Cococandy are the real danger to the USA.
The real danger to the United States is people like you who have individualistic mindset. This is typical of the republican person. They can’t fathom fighting for something unless it personally benefits them.

No one country would be in a good place if the successful people decide everything is okay and we should remain at status quo. What that does is create a big gap of slim ultra wealthy, thin middle class and plenty of impoverished people who will forever be impoverished.

I've already told the story of my million dollar earning friend still complaining about racism. Someone in the top 1% of USA earners still sees himself as a victim of racism. And our Igbo are the worst, they come as a guest to a country and want to dominate the owners of the land and call them fools. Any wonder the Sarduana said what he said in that famous BBC interview in the 1950s.

My bros, the thing is mind blowing. In fact in our discussions he always emphasizes that the racism is SYSTEMIC. So I asked him how a systemically racist system allowed a Black colored Negro like him to rise to the top 1% and he can't answer. In fact a systemically racist system wouldn't even let him become a USA citizen. Oh, and he was always saying he doesn't mind paying more taxes. Just like Warren Buffett grin

Many of these people don't realize or refuse to acknowledge that in a free market capitalist system, the rising tide will lift all boats in the long term. That's why Black American descendants of slaves are the riches set of Blacks in any country on earth. Like I often tell my liberal friends, Jeff Bezos went from $300K to $100 billion net worth in 30 years, me I went from $0 to where I am now....he improved and me too I improved to the extent I live better than 95% of Nigerians where I grew up. What's the problem?

You only have to look at California to see what's going on. I've tried to tell you what is really happening. I suspect an American Reformation is coming in this our year 2015 and it's about time.

Good Luck to the USA.
Racism is systemic. Your friend is a smart person who hasn’t let the fact that he earns well cloud his sense. There’s more to society than money if we even want to speak on it. But even if we just focus on money, the systemic racism is the reason why your friend probably put in 10x the amount of work it took for a white person on his level to get to where he is.

The funny thing is that if you’re not making 500k/yr or even more, you’re closer to the person making 50k and more likely to be affected by the corporate welfare system the republicans endorse than the system of equitable taxation and representation. Some people start making 6 figures & own some choice properties then they think they can be like Jeff Bezos. Hence they hate the democrats and their “socialism”.

But it is brainwashing because your taxes aren’t going to get smaller under the republican government. It will get bigger. It just happened after Trump put in worse tax polices and left office didn’t it? You’ll pay more and it will go to the billionaires while you still aspire to be like them even when they are the reason you will never get there.

The ultra wealthy who have sold you (generic) the idea of a free market economics only love when it favors them. When free market favors the common man, they move quickly to stop it. Reminisce on GameStop if you would. The so called free market is rigged from the beginning to never let you get past a certain level in life and you will never see it because you think you’re closer to Elon Musk in wealth rather than the poor man who makes $50k/yr who truly is more your financial peer even if you’re making multiple 6 figures.

If we’re looking at California to see what’s going on. Can we be truthful about how we are your sugar mommies please? We give you money and you send your homeless to us because you don’t have social programs to take care of them. Yet you turn around to insult us.

All the conservatives states are the biggest loser states in America. Draining the country financially without adding as much money back to the economy. Depend on us and New York for handouts yet have everything to say against handouts.

That is emphatically true. Blacks have this penchant for feeding bottle mentality. Always government support with other people's money o. Never theirs, but as Margaret Thatcher stated..."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money".
You mean to say black people not blacks. Yes I support social programs that help people who are down on their luck, provide affordable healthcare and housing, affordable widespread public transportation, paid maternity and paternity leave. You know, all the things that truly make a 1st world country. Things that some other 1st world countries have managed to implement without falling into communism. Yet America is still beating about the bush on these issues while brainwashing anyone who cares to listen that it’s impossible to achieve.

I pay my taxes in the thousands and I’d love to see the money go to those who actually need it versus padding the pockets of military contractors who go around the world stoking wars and strife so they can sell more weapons. It’s not other people’s money. It our collective money that’s meant to benefit the collective public rather than a select few corrupt business men.

I am amused when I see Igbos, regardless of location, complain of racism. It makes me chuckle.
I don’t even know what this is supposed to mean. Because I’m Igbo, am I supposed to overlook the fact that certain people truly want me to perish for my skin color? And they mostly occupy the Republican Party?
Or should it just be another day because “by the way it’s worse in Nigeria”? You have truly made no meaningful point with this comment here.

There are facts to support it. 1) The greatest beneficiaries of AA are upper middle class blacks, not the downtrodden./

And I’m surprised at you as well. But we can’t all agree

I know who’s interested in gutting everything that helps the less privileged in the society and fund more wars and it’s not democrats. Records and results? On the record republicans always set the economy back every single time. I’m still paying for the effects of Trumps polices 3 years after he left office. When Biden is done fixing stuff and god forbid Trump wins, he’ll come in to take credit, ruin things and leave it for the next democratic president to fix.

On equity and inclusivity, I’m usually not surprised when minorities who support conservative policies find out they were never meant to be represented by the conservatives in the first place. But they themselves act surprised that the party of racist white men didn’t actually mean to care about them except when tokenizing them.

Let’s agree to disagree. But if this world described below is the world you went to vote in by supporting Trump, there’s no conversation to be had.

Project 2025 envisions widespread changes to the government, particularly economic and social policies and the role of the federal government and its agencies. The plan proposes taking partisan control of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Commerce, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), dismantling the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and sharply reducing environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production.[14][17] The blueprint seeks to institute tax cuts,[18] though its writers disagree on the wisdom of protectionism.[19] Project 2025 recommends abolishing the Department of Education, whose programs would be either transferred to other agencies or terminated.[20][21] Funding for climate research would be cut and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) would be reformed according to conservative principles.[22][23] The project seeks to cut funding for Medicare and Medicaid[24][25] and urges the government to explicitly reject abortion as health care.[26][27] The project seeks to eliminate coverage of emergency contraception under the Affordable Care Act[24] and enforce the Comstock Act to prosecute those who send and receive contraceptives and abortion pills nationwide.[27][28] It proposes criminalizing pornography,[29][30] removing legal protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity,[30][31] and terminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs[5][31] and affirmative action[32] by having the DOJ prosecute "anti-white racism."[33] The Project recommends the arrest, detention, and deportation of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.[34][35][36] It proposes deploying the military for domestic law enforcement.[37] It promotes capital punishment and the speedy "finality" of those sentences.[38][39]
IbeOkehie:
I'm surprised you think like this. I urge you to do some research on policies of the Dems and Republicans. Actual policy. I've repeated this over and over...the USA and Nigeria have EXACTLY the same problems and this election is the USA version of the 2015 election in Nigeria.

I find most of us Blacks tend to be superficial in our political attitudes and choices. Just look at the record and results. Research the policies. It doesn't matter which way you vote, we can only recommend reality over emotions.

Good Luck to the USA.

If you need to sit this one out, by all means do so. I understand if it doesn’t concern you. But it absolutely concerns me. It affects me, my life, my properties, my healthcare, my kids’ futures, my safety to name a few.

Trumps last tenure saw an increase in taxes that I paid this past year. Paid $23,000 in child care fees that I couldn’t claim in my taxes because of reforms he made. In past regimes, I could write it off on my taxes. Meanwhile Amazon billionaire got a tax cut. Meaning that I and other tax payers actually gave him money to become richer.

You might need to shut up but I don’t. I don’t contribute to the conversation because it’s trendy. I contribute because it affects me.

Oh and they plus their forefathers are immigrants just like us. The difference is that they killed everyone they met who already lived here and pushed the rest onto reservations. That’s why they are paranoid about immigrants. They think everyone is a savage colonizer like them

Now you’re just rambling

Am I smarter than them? There’s one brain cell shared between them. A shoe is smarter than them.

Left to them and their conservative ways, nothing would be where it is today. They’ve always wanted the status quo. Always fighting against development and progress. That’s why they share a mindset with many primitive people from primitive societies. And those are the times they went to drag the whole world back to.

Keep up pls

djon78:
Make we hear word

Are you smarter than them?

They have made there choices

At least they bettered there countries

You guys are running to

You guys are scared of anti immigration stance of Trump

Which is even good for Africa

We mess up our countries and run away to places where they have developed

Draining our best brains that will help in development of Africa

I support Peter Obi

There’s a difference between supporting a candidate you think will do well and worshipping a known scoundrel. Pls park one side

naso Nigerians rally around buhari and he failed them. Now it's obi, n I'm pretty sure that obi will do same.

The way people cult follow someone is beyond unreasonable. Folks need to start thinking for themselves
