buzugee: when you say europe, i hope you are not speaking about england. the youth in england are the dumbest in the world. their aspirations are to be chavs, pregnant with a council flat and giro, party animals, drunks or football hooligans This might seem a tard too harsh but it aint far from the truth |

texazzpete: I don't know why some people are whining about the 'west' here. Yes, the ECOMOG position is backed by the western countries. But it's also supported by the UN. The proposed action has support even from the likes of China and Russia.
Instead of Africans to be proud that for once ECOMOG is standing united against crimes against democracy (this will serve as a deterrence to coup-plotters) they are here babbling about Western colonialism and interference. Nonsense. you bother to worry yourself with these conspiracy theorists who continue to regurgitate the the same argument ad nauseam.Yes,agreed no can rule out neo-colonial tendencies of western powers that does not detract from the heinous crimes of African leaders against their own people. Ola edo: You have to ask yourself who really is the "international community".Notice how they never give names of countries in that community. It could very well just be France, the U.S., and maybe 2 other African countries. I'm not sure I get what you driving at |

^^So because the international community failed to intervene in the Rwandan genocide, they have no business intervening in future crisis of such magnitude. What a warped logic |

Dede1: There should be no civil war if the Ivory Coast political issue is allowed to be settled by Ivoirians. However, civil war is ensured when foreign interest is placed above the interest of ordinary Ivorian. This isn't sound judgement to me.We need not wait for another Rwanda,Kenya,Liberia,S/leone or even Zimbabwe before we take neccessary measures to curb further killings. This political quagmire must be stopped now. |
Politics › Re: African Militaries Led By Nigeria Ready To Act In Ivory Coast Standoff by cold(m): 9:01pm On Jan 21, 2011 |
Dede1: Stay way from the internal political issue of a member nation and urge non-Africans to do the same. There is no perfect political process on earth. There is a electoral process in Ivory Coast and its decision must be obeyed even if the outcome is not what we hoped. The idea of UN or EU announcing the results of elections in Ivory Coast is unacceptable to right thinking African
What is about to happen in Ivory Coast is what happened to Nigeria in 1967 that will lead to everlasting hatred and mistrust among the citizen of Ivory Coast. Seriously, does this sound like a reasonable decision? When another civil war breaks out the fall out would be even more costly to contain.Better the evil is nipped in the bud sooner rather than later |
Politics › Re: African Militaries Led By Nigeria Ready To Act In Ivory Coast Standoff by cold(m): 8:10pm On Jan 21, 2011 |
Dede1: You are one of the Africans I referred in my post. The so-called duly elected president of Ivory Coast was based on the result of election announced by EU and UN. The last time I check, these useless bodies are not part of Ivory Coast. I guess the so-called democrats you referred in post were the servants of neo-colonialists in Africa. Ok slow down on the hyper-ventilation.Regarding yourself as Foriegn Affairs Minister in any of the ECOWAS countries, what practical solution/solutions would you recommend to the head of your government devoid of military intervention |
