There is some sense in what you are saying...however it leads to the very dangerous idea of one single person determining what is true news and what is fake news...which can lead to totalitarian levels of control

Also, it sounds too paternalistic. We want a government, not a parent. And allowing the government to act as The Parent usually does not end well.
