America did not take the oil from Nigeria.
US WTI is a slightly different type of oil compared to Nigeria's bonny light. Nigeria's own is of higher quality and more expensive in the international market. Dangote is likely purchasing the US WTI because it is cheaper than Nigeria's oil and secondly, there is not enough supply of Nigeria's oil because a good portion has been used to secure loans.

Just say the reason is because Nigeria's crude is unavailable because it's been used to collaterize loans into the future and don't add the fact that US WTI is cheaper. I get angry when people are this context to the reason for importing crude from US because the price differential is very marginal.
US WTI Crude is selling for $83.65 while our own bonny light is $85.20 as at today meaning it's less than $2 per barrel difference. Now if you factor in the freight cost of a single vessel from the US to lekki which will run into millions of $ you will notice that it might probably cost Dangote more to buy US WTI despite the meaningless price difference you quoted.
Let's just face it that Nigeria is doomed and a failed country.

More like 80 percent of Nigerians are mourning. I went to market yesterday to fill up my groceries and all. I never buy quarter of my list and the way folks around were looking at me made me feel so unsafe. I had to apply caution and visit three different markets.
