ElSudani: Since you love rice so much, how many damn acres do you have under cultivation? How many acres does the folks around you have under cultivation? None, that is the simple answer. I am sick and tired of people like you who would rather japa or die than to be seen on a farm complain about the prices of food. Funny enough, people like you are the first on the internet to wail and lament about hunger. We have a better alternative to rice in Nigeria, eat cassava it is the same carbohydrate. If your survival is tied to rice them grow it. Is Tinubu also preventing you from doing that? You should first ask how many acres of rice Seyi Tinubu, Iyabo Ojo Tinubu and you the Cheif Zombie Tinubu supporter have grown first. The sad truth is that many of you are wallowing in self imposed poverty and poverty of the mind. You better emancipate yourself from this mental slavery before you infect your children with it if you have any. |

ElSudani: Everything boils does to the price of rice. May I ask you how many acres of rice you have under cultivation right now? Probably none. Your taste for imported food is one of the problems facing the country. What did we eat before Thailand rice? Have we always depended on imported food? Your taste for imported rice is one of the problems the government must address. Either you grow it or eat cassava instead, carb is carb. Look at this zombie giving another excuse that it's our taste for imported rice that's making the price go up. Where I bought rice for 58000 yesterday, they also sell Eko rice there (i.e made in Lagos rice) the price of the Eko rice is 56000 per bag and you can go and check if I'm wrong. Shebi according to you it's our consumption of Thailand rice that's making the price go up, why is the locally produced rice equally expensive? Also, is it also the impoverished citizens by this same government that's making it buy SUVs for politicians, budget 15Bn to renovate VP house, go on a jamboree to Dubai? Just admit it that the useless government you are supporting has failed, it will not kill you if you do. Must you be a zombie to politician in your life? |

ElSudani: You don't know what you are talking about. Did you read where one of the ministers said we already got the money for some of the oil we are selling right now? What that means basically is that we mortgaged some of our future oil earnings. Tinubu didn't do that and I suspect it doesn't mean anything to you as long as you can afford rice. Your summary already validated my point, all the excuses in the world won't mean anything to me and millions of Nigeria if a bag of rice is sold for 58,000. Mind you, you may give all the excuses in the world but can you bet with your life that by this time next year a bag of rice will be selling for 35000 the way Tinubu met it. You will come back again to give another excuse for why that cannot happen. Lol The government is not the only.problem of this country, it is zombies and zombie followers that always give excuse for failed governments that are the main problems. |

I get your point though About not raising hopes on politicians ,, but still TNB so far has been better that BHR Lol, is this a joke? Tinubu is better than Buhari? How please? What was dollar rate in Buharis time and what's the rate now? What about bag of rice then and now? What is the price of a flight ticket then and now? Treadway: lol....nice wordplay.
I still dey HODL my dollar stash sha. Will be following the trends....till then.
To the folks here, make I epp una answer some of your questions. If the refinery does start, the price of fuel will largely remain same or even higher. So don't expect cheaper fuel. What you will expect as a benefit is more Forex to go round..forex that would have gone into importing fuel will now be saved, meaning more available Forex, meaning the exchange rate gets better IF the rogues y'all put in power don't mop it all up. What forex do you think you will save with Dangote refinery? You are being scammed forex just the same way you have been scammed with the price. Dangote will be buying crude with forex from NNPC and any forex he makes from exporting refined products will go into buying crude oil. Any FX profit Dangote makes thereafter from the sale of crude will go into his account and not to Nigeria. Now, if you expect Dangote to sell his products to Nigerians in Naira, how will he pay for the crude he's buying? For every crude oil NNPC gives to Dangote for local consumption , the government is also losing forex they would have gained by selling it abroad. So where's this forex savings coming from? |

Refineries are created to make money. Money to pay the owner, to pay for maintenance, to pay for taxes, and to pay for worker's salaries.
Any attempt to restrict money making by refinery would lead to its collapse.

Anyway, Nigerians do not want to face that truth.

Fujiyama: ^^^ If your trade balance is positive then your currency appreciates - unless you decide to keep your currency artificially low (China for example keeps the renminbi artificially low to keep its exports competitive and maintain that positive trade balance).
As far as I am aware, Nigeria is not keeping the Naira artificially low. So how can such a large trade surplus of N3.5 trillion (this trade surplus is about 15% of your entire 2023 budget (supplementary budget included)) not lead to appreciation of the local currency? And the year isn't over mind you - if this positive trade balance (as reported) continues, then the year end trade surplus should be even larger. Some posters have mentioned a lag before the effects of a trade surplus can be seen. How long? A year? A decade?
Something is not adding up. You are wasting your time responding to a zombie with basic economic principles. A zombies brain is not matured enough to understand economics, the only thing it can comprehend is agbado and standing on his mandate. Nigeria is the only country in the world that will have a trade surplus and her currency has devalued by almost 100% within the same year. Is God not wonderful. |

Cmanforall: I think that's a major issue here. Polaris may be trying to avoid any fraudulent transactions. Moreover, her transaction is complex (Transfer naira from Polaris to GTBank , then from GTbank to another person's naira account . This 3rd person lives in UK, so he/she paid for you in Pounds. The Uni only refunds to the account that made payment. This 3rd person's UK account is no longer functioning . Polaris (if they have all these information OP shared) may be wondering why not this 3rd person provide his or her new account details with ID to prove he or she is the same person and owner of both the old and new account. So they changed their policy because of OP plea (Polaris may think?) Did she notify Polaris amd provide all the evidence to show the legitimacy pf the transaction? If you are in the system you will know what's going on here. She's trying to be clever by half and trying to blackmail the bank into submission. She probably got the pounds when the rate was around 500/$ and today the rate is above 1000/$. She knows if they return the money to the account she used to remit it they will convert it at the old rate to dollar as per CBN policy, but if she diverts the funds into a pounds account she will receive pounds without conversion and sell it at the rate now which is above 1000/$. The bank will not want to incur CBN wrath by allowing that to happen because they might be fined if the source of the fund is traced and it's found to be roundtripping. Many people were using this method to cash out when CBN was still selling dolllars to students through the banks. |

Mopolchi: Well, I believe that with IreV, the affected parties can argue their cases and send APC packing. The updated IreV currently shows the number of accredited voters. What these parties need now is to print out the number of accredited voters per each polling unit. Make/force INEC to get the collation results at the ward level, then compare and contrast to see if there is over-voting. If there is, the court will have no choice than to cancel any polling unit with over voting. Irev is irrelevant to elections in Nigeria according to supreme court oga. |

Mopolchi: Unreasonable and unrealistic figures. Irev shows lesser people were accredited, so why did INEC agree to these bloated figures by APC? Other oppositions should challenge these results in court. Evidences dey. What is irev? The supreme court has already confirmed that irev is irrelevant in elections in Nigeria. The presidential election judgement according to the supreme court states that irev is irrelevant and inconsequential in election results. Nigeria is doomed, just know this and know peace. |
