Whether you like it or not, tradition remains tradition. Let me lecture you on Tolerance Tolerance is about accepting people view even when it's different from yours. I believe you are learned but don't allow your emotion cloud your judgement. If you are a Christian, you must have heard apostle Paul saying if you go to the Rome behave like the Romans and likewise if you are in Samaria Enjoy your tradition, let's enjoy ours. We no dey complain. So the Man should sieze the family properties just because he held custody of it. How many properties have he sold. What about the dividend from the land that he has been enjoying. If the said uncle is previledges to such don't you think he would have been successful. Don't let emotion cloud your judgement. sapoyoro: You Igbo people are so shameless. See how every one of you is saying properties belong to only the first son? Which kin rubbish tradition be this ? So the first son owns all the properties and will share to his siblings as he deem fit? As per say the other children mumu. Omo I thank God for being Yoruba in Yorubaland everything will be shared equally even down to the female child nobody is left cheated nor is anyone made to feel superior. You guys can’t even cover up your shame. Tue tue |

Judging from the way women reply on this thread, I understand why our ancestors exclude them from inheriting any properties |

The properties belong to your uncle as the first son of the family. It is within his right to share the properties among his siblings after taking the lion shares of the land. Whether your father built or renovate the house, it's still within his right as the first son. Who knows your father may be behind his predicament in his sojourn abroad. He own greater share of the properties as the first son, and your dad own shares too. If tradition should be forgotten, ur father should have shared the land and properties among your aunt's. |

The rise of crime, especially armed robbery and kidnapping gave rise to this. It's necessary to have some documentation of tenant resident in your environs. They have been instances of lady tenant stealing another tenant sleeping baby when the lattér step out to get foodstuffs at the stores. Another instance is tenant stealing Keke napep belonging to another tenants in the same compound. Last week hoodlums on Keke snatched a five year old boy from the parent at 8pm, it's the same youth that pursue this armed hoodlums for over 30 minutes rescuing the boy ang catching the criminals, though soldiers helped in the pursuit. It's the same as tenant filling forms in the hands of lawyers before renting a house. Previously the practice is not acceptable in Oba and it's environ. This youths are doing everything possible to protect their environs from criminals masquerading as tenants |

ChybuzzDD: Your explanations are not correct. The PHCN or whatever simply transferred the old, outstanding debts from the estimated bills into the new meter. This 53,000 is the outstanding debt for the entire occupants, including the landlord, of that building starting from when ?PHCN started bringing bills to that house. The landlord knows this and simply wants only this guy and his colleague to inherit it. The man might not even be adding his own part of the bill after collecting those 5,000 from the guy, which made it possible for the bill to accumulate to this extent. What he was doing was like this: if they brought an estimated bill of like 10,000 for the entire house per month, he would collect 5000 from this guy to pay in for the month to avoid disconnection, and the arrears kept accumulating.
The guy should reject it or simply pack out, if the landlord refuses to contribute towards settling this outstanding 53,000. He is right. I used prepaid meter In few months time after my first recharge was exhausted, I realized that my new meter have outstanding debt, gotten from estimated billing from PHCN |
