nnesochim:You are correct. Some of the courses that are advertised in DSSC are offered by NDA RCs. It is people like lawyers and doctors who don't have competitors from NDA RCs that have advantage over others. DRCs can become Major Generals but in rare circumstances because of the pyramid policy of the higher the rank, the lower the intake. Thanks 1 Like |

If the list is released soonest and training is made to kick off before December, won't the Christmas or New Year festivities interrupt the training? Won't there be anything like Christmas or New Year break? Thanks. |

Eldonbrowny:It is not about when we are to commence cadet training but rather it is about when will the final list be out to know if you are going or not so you can know what to be doing now. No matter when training will commence, if you are sure of going, you won't be worried. Right now, a lot of people are already missing other opportunities because they don't know if they will make it or not by the time the list will be out. |
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by collins777: 2:39pm On Oct 08, 2016 |
The delay is too much. Last cadet training that started from January 2015 was as a result of postponement, as the list was actually published 2 October 2014 for training to start 25 October 2014. That is to say that publication of final list and commencement of training are usually within October. Let's just hope that the delay is not intended to create a room to favour some persons. |

Something different was observed during the interview with the Army selection board for the SSC and DSSC. While at the SSC, the candidates' chest tags were not replaced with different tags before going to face the Army selection board, that of DSSC, the candidates were asked to submit their chest tags and different chest tags which do not reveal the state of origin of the candidates were issued to everyone before going for the board interview. What could be the reason for this different mode of appearance before the selection board for the SSC and DSSC candidates? |

samobaba4u:The issue is not about when training shall commence but it is about when will they shortlist the names? No matter the time for commencement of training, once your name is on the list, you know that you are going. In any issue that has to do with the release of result, the earlier results are released after examination, the more the credibility of the released result because when you delay, you give room for people to influence the outcome of the process. |

One doesn't really know the number to be shortlisted for each State and whether it will be based on quota system for every state. I am having the feeling that the number of intakes may increase this year following the announcement made earlier this year by the Army to recruit 12, 000 personnel into the Army due to the 8 Division that was just established in Borno State and the proposed 6 Division to be created in the South South. More so, as there was no enlistment for SSC and DSSC last year 2015. However, I have strong misgivings if this final selection is state based because if it is, what will then happen to States that were adversely affected during the eviction of candidates and for the DSSC candidates, what about States left with candidates whose professions are not really needed compared to States left with persons whose professions are in a very high demand in the Army? Well, let us just keep watching as we await the final list. A lot of factors may really play out and every year may come with its peculiarities. Thanks. |

Harymis1:The advantages of DSSC over SSC are as follows: 1. DSSC is exclusively for professionals, hence DSSC applicants have higher chances of being enlisted more than SSC applicants. This is the case because the graduates from NDA are not usually professionals (lawyers, medical doctors, Nurses etc) so they are just ordinary graduates with BSC and just like the ordinary graduates applying for SSC so while they can compete for available space with ordinary graduates applying for SSC, they can not compete with the DSSC applicants who are professionals. Remember also the NDA graduates are given priority over SSC applicants in the recruitment process because of the military training of the former. 2. The DSSC applicants are often given higher rank and salary benefits including allowances upon enlistment than the SSC applicants since the DSSC applicants are seen as professionals. 4 Likes |

mimzy007:You are correct. That form is meant to be filled by the parents of the applicant based on the following reasons: 1. The form is meant to be completed by your parents. 2. It is an avenue to get your parents' consent and contact details in case of any casualty. 3. Your name as the applicant is already printed on the Form and so it is needless to re-enter your name on the space provided for Name. 4. The form is intended to bind your parents legally, hence they require the full information about your parent who is signing it. Thank you. 3 Likes |
