atlwireles: So what? How would you feel if your place have been sidelined bu the government in terms of projects only for them to bring in something like this? Of what benefit will such a center be to Emohua people in particular? That is why they are protesting against it. |
Emohua people are fully against it. Of all the projects Amaechi could have cited in that place, it is Ebola center that he chose. |
obayaya: The entry points into Aba are all messed up. And that goes a long way in painting Aba as a messed up city. The good parts notwithstanding.Really unfortunate. |
Another Yoruba impostor trying to stir trouble. |
OdenigboAroli: First of,I am not from Aguleri and everybody here knows that but Aguleri is special in Igbo history and culture. So because of the billions you have poured into the project, it is okay for you to fold your hands and watch hundreds of people get killed? What kind of logic is that? This is the time to shed the blood you claim to be known for. |
OdenigboAroli: Believe me,the ediot is from Umuleri Oke Ebo!Maybe you don't understand what I am saying. Where were the Aguleri warriors when Ibaji people were killing you for your own oil? I heard some Aguleri people have been displaced from their homes and now live in camps, where were the warriors while this was happening? I hate empty boasting. |
OdenigboAroli: Aguleri and Umuleri are relatives until you losers tried to claim the fertile Otuocha land and everybody knows what happened after that. Since then you people cant stop crying over the beatings you got from the superior Aguleri fighters. Next time pick your fight and when you lose dont transfer your frustration to an innocent man(Obiano) and the man(Obi) that made him just because you can't get over the a.ss whooping you got from Aguleri.See foolishness na. You guys are only warriors when it comes to fighting your Umuleri brothers but you sit back and fold your hands while Kogi people are slaughtering you for your own oil. What a shameful mentality. |
abu12: Merge for what? That oil belong to kogi, kogi will be the first northern state to be declared oil producing state. I don't knw why anambra state governor will decide not to attend such meeting, even when Dora was buried on thursdayThis Anambra oil matter will soon kill you. Hope you have your nooze ready? |
The article is more than a year old, why is it being regurgitated now? |
^^^ You don't need to post links to convince anyone, We all know the industrial capability and potentials of Aba, that is why we are angry that the city has been held back by bad roads and poor waste management. Thankfully, the aspect of insecurity has been dealt with to a manageable extent. |
QuiverBox: Whta is PFD?Portable Floating Device, same thing as Life jacket. The guy just dey blow grammar. |
kel4soft: Life jacket work depending on the current of the water the jacket is been usel, the essence of life jacket is to suspend you for the time been when there is an accident pending when you will have rescue operatives. Bonny water especially this Peterside area is something else, the wave there can scare the hell out of someone. I won't be surprise if some of those victims died as a result of fear.Or the life jackets were worn out or not properly worn. |
RareDiamond: .Can you name the city that is dirtier than Aba in Nigeria? Fools like you are the reasons wht T.A Orji was able to rule Abia for 8 years despite doing absolutely nothing. You are a perpertual slave |
chinasaekperem: he should take a walk to makoko in lagos. There are slums hidden somewhwere in almost every city, but that of Aba is different; you are greeted by filth whether you are entering from the left or from the right. You can fall sick by just driving through there alone. |
RareDiamond: I AM SURPRISED THAT YOU COULD MAKE SUCH A DUM.B AND UNFORTUNATE COMMENT OF ABA. YES SOME PART OF ABA IS DIRTY AND GOV THEODORE ORJI DON'T DESERVE ANY RESPECT AND PRAISE BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE ABA THE MOST DIRTY CITY IN NIGERIA. NEVER !!! ABA IS FAR NEATER THAN SOME CITIES IN NIGERIA . SOME PEOPLE NEVER KNEW ABA HAVE SOME AREAS THAT ARE BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME OF WRONG INFORMATION AND UNBALANCED REPORTING. WE SHOULD NOT SET OUR HOUSE ON FIRE BECAUSE WE WANT TO KILL A RAT. ABA WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER AND NEATER UNDER GOOD LEADERSHIP. YES WE AGREE !!! BUT TO SAY ABA IS THE MOST DIRTY CITY IN NIGERIA IS A MALICIOUS FALLACY AND LIE THAT SHOULD BE VIEWED AS AN ACT OF WICKEDNESS AND IGNORANCE .My statements aren't based on what I read on websites but what I have seen with my 3 eyes. I have meen to many cities including the Ibadan you mentioned (several times) and I still say Aba is the dirtiest in Nigeria. If you like bury your head in the sand, it is your business. |
ketoprofen: Read the title of the thread, u will see that you are making noise over nothingMy problem is not the title of the thread or the OP, I was even ''liking'' some of the pictures until I started seeing comments suggesting that the dirty pictures of Aba are fake. There is no dirtier city in Nigeria than Aba. This is not the time to relax or pretend, Aba must be made better. |
Arysexy: What Aba needs is a little cosmetic touch,.just do the roads, beautify the streets lights and good landscaping, the inhabitants have already given the city some aesthetic look with buildings. That is exactly what is needed, this is not the time to start showing some so called ''good parts of Aba'' with elections coming up. It is the time to remind Aba and Abia people in general why they need to vote wisely and defend their votes to the end. |
kettykin: you are quite right about the dirty areas, but the previous posters did not balance their views about Aba , people at a time were scared stiff about Aba. Aba has its good side and bad side just like any other city in Nigeria the bad parts of Lagos and Abuja are even worse than the bad parts of Aba. Arysexy: I like ur frankness but it's good to balance views, I av not been to Aba before and the bad pictures and news that has circulated on NL erroneously shaped my view about the city, now I have seen the good sides .This is exactly what I don't want to hear ''every city has its own slum'', believe me, that of Aba cannot be compared to any of those places you mentioned, your skin begins to crawl the moment you step into the city, that is how bad it is. I can't think of any other place as bad as that in Nigeria. Pretending will not help anyone. |
kettykin: @ Chinas God bless you a billion times !!!! for coming with the real live pictures of Aba, the wrong pictures being circulated all over the world has scared investors away and those willing to relocate back to the east from the diaspora. Those dirty pictures of Aba are very real, there is no point pretending otherwise. What you should be advising Abians to do is demand for better governance not blowing a trumpet that doesn't exist. I appreciate the fact that the OP is showing some good parts of Aba, but that doesn't mean that the bad ones don't exist. Aba is the dirtiest city I've been to in Nigeria, and I have been to many. |
ChrisOD: But can you answer his question of how many met tons of coal there are in Enugu and surrounding areas. If it is less than 50 years supply, would it be worth the investment?I have never mentioned Enugu in all my posts here. My only interest is generation of electricity using coal as it is done in most parts of the world by serious nations. Whether in Enugu or Kogi or anywhwere, coal power plants should be built to solve our electricity problems once and for all, if the coal in Nigeria isn't sufficient, they can always import. I am not talking about private investors, but the government. It is their job to provide us with stable electricity. Asking if providing power for people is worth the investment is quite frankly a useless question. No wonder they tag you guys as suffering and smiling. |
So what should we do about this? |
It simply means the aren't ready to end the menace yet, who loses? As for them killing Igbos in the north, any Igbo who is killed their committed suicide. |
kmariko: .What is the population of those middle east countries? How many of them can boast of up to 20 million population which isn't even up to 1/5th of Nigeria's? Iran's populations is about half of Nigeria's, they have oil and gas, yet they still import coal for electricity production in addition to the little one they have. Name one country with half of Nigeria's population, enjoying constant electricity that relies totally on gas. |
No one should read the story in that link. That is undiluted wickedness! |
CHAIRMAN1: Bros shun coal, gas is the way to go. Its a cleaner source of fuel as it contributes less to global warming than coal does. Your stae Governor should be the one you should call on to harneess that potential and attract an industrial revolution to Enugu. Instead he's busy fighting his deputy over poultry and pullets. You are just the kind of fool the whites want to keep as slave forever. They tell you coal is dirty and causes global warming while they still generate the bulk of their electricity from the same coal, industrialising and developing as a result of the constant electricity in their countries, while fools like you keep dying from generator fumes dreaming of meeting your electricity needs from gas alone. The developed countries with all their technological advancement have not been able to do that and you think Nigeria will be the first? Can the amount of gas available in Nigeria in anyway be compared to that of Russia who still uses coal to generate a chunk of its electricity? Money has been spent on tens of gas plants all over the country yet we still produce just over 4000MW, if you take away the hydro dams, I don't think the gas plants combined together will even produce up to 2000MW. A single coal plant can produce 5 times that amount. |
kmariko: remember the primary purpose of business is to make your shareholders happy (i.e make profit). In a competitive environment like Nigeria, why would one import coal when other cheaper raw materials are available for power generation. It will merely increase the consumers power rates which would of course move them to other companies. What other cheaper raw materials are you talking about and how many megawatts have they been able to generate for us? You talk as if we have excess electricity flowing all over the country with consumers having the luxury of choosing their electricity providers, that is delusional. Coal still remains the number one source of electricity in the world with a 50% stake, there surely must be a reason for that, it is cheap, reliable and produces more megawatts per plant than most other sources. What environmental impact? What are the environmental impact of millions of generators in Nigeria? What is the environmental impact of coal in USA, UK, China, South Africa, Germany and other developed countries where it is still veing used heavily? |
Whoever started this thread should be shot. Absolute nonsense! |
kmariko: The coal supply has to last for a very long time...do we know the amount of coal we have in Enugu in relation to the "desired" power needed in the subregion taking into cognizant future growth.Even countries that have no trace of coal in their land still make use of coal to generate electricity, and they are better off for it. Assuming we don't have enough quantity of coal in Nigeria to sustain eleectricity production, we can always import. Despite all the alternatives available, 50% of the worlds electricity is gotten from coal alone. Think about that. |
