While Femi Falana was on their case, the federal government suddenly sent all of them to Cameroon with no extradition hearing. One of the men was married to a Nigerian woman and had children with her in Nigeria

Falana took the Federal government to court for unlawful extradition and won. The courts declared that the arrest, detention and subsequent extradition were illegal and awarded the men compensation. The court also ordered the federal government to return the men to Nigeria
