Pls do u think 270 is safe for nursing?

Hey Reign27

Unical Nursing Merit cut off for last year was 240, locality was 225 and ELDs was 215.

Though we all know cut off marks aren't constant but with a score of 270 you do stand a good chance. But do not be over confident of that score. You still need to sit tight and Ace the post utme.

Remember you can never score too high above the cut off mark, you can only score too low to be considered for admission. WORK.

am a male aspirant, seeking admission into Usman danfodio university, I scored 254 ,pls I need ur advice, based on job opportunity in Nigeria, which course is best between medical laboratory and nursing

Personally when it comes to choosing a career or wanting to do anything what I first consider is my interest towards that thing. I believe the passion I have for anything I choose will be the force that will keep me going.

So when it comes to choosing between MLS and Nursing, why not you look critically into what MLS and Nursing both entails and you pick any of them that interest you?

Talking about job opportunities, I believe both courses have good job opportunities after graduation but hey you must know that no matter your course of study employment isn't automatic after graduation.

Whatever decision you make, Choose HAPPINESS

What matters in Jamb is understanding. Good textbooks plus lamlad series as sub-textbook is enough joor. If one is not carefull, past questions app or hardcopies can make one depress. You can imagine after reading a full text back-to-back, then you decided to know how far. At the end of the day, it's 70 Jesus!! I was expecting 90+ not knowing I got some the app failed for me.

On the other hand, Obsessive use of past questions causes Illusion of mastery.

One mustn't depend on past questions to do well in utme though. Read and understand the topic. Past questions only gives an insight on what to expect

Similar issue here bro. Let's just keep reading and praying. Some of the past questions' answers are wrong. In short, Verify all answers with textbook or probably Google. Which past questions are you using hardcopy? PDF? or CBT app?

Actually a lot of the answers in past questions are wrong. In the 2 utme exams I've written I do make use of past questions alot not knowing answers to most of the questions because I've not gone through most of the topics.

But now that I've gone through a large part of the topics in phy chem and bio and going through past questions make me realize I've been on the wrong side ever since.

The most important thing is going through the syllabus of all the subject you're writing before going into past questions OR going through questions that are related to a topic you just completed. So it's either at the end of syllabus or end of topic. But for now I'll recommend the former because of time factor.

If you don't have the Lamlad series, you can download JAMBPREP app. I've been using that app for a while now and it's answers are mostly reliable and you can also search questions for a particular topic in it

I'll advice you take jamb this year and also complete your ND.

When I was doing my National Diploma I had a friend who took UTME in ND 2, the guy is in 300level now.

So don't wait until you complete the ND before writing jamb. You're in ND2 now, so you'll definitely complete your studies before starting your studies at the uni if you write it this year.

Med school in uniport?.. Well I guess what you mean by that is how Do they run their admission process since it looks like you're still an aspirant.

Contary to a post I saw on this thread, Uniport has A very fair admission Procedure, From my knowledge it is very difficult to Wriggle your way in with cash or something of that sort.

Uniport is unique because it's one of those few schools that Has Catchment areas all over the state, and admission is Not confined to any Geo-political region.

According to My admission experience, Each states are alloted quotas Based on applicant population or something of that sort.

The merit cut off mark is always friendly. Like for me, I scored 288 in the 2018 Utme and 36/50 which is 288/400 in the post Utme, and I was admitted in the first list, and people with lower scores than that also got admission in subsequent List.

Uniport unlike other schools can release up to Four admission list, and the MCDN quota for medicine in uniport is About 150 though 40 of that number comes from the basic program.

Uniport may not be the Best Medical school we got here in this part of the world, But We Pose a threat to Other schools and may feature in the Top 10..

The competition for medicine here ain't as great as other schools, but is great to an extent, And the cut off mark is very friendly. In UNN a combo of 288 in jamb and 288 in post Utme won't even get you med lab Sci, talk more of pharmacy or medicine, But it got me Merit list in uniport, so if it's about admission, so long as you can dig up some good scores you're good to go... And to better things Unlike schools in the West that considers O level result Grades before admission, uniport doesn't do that

I would have told you about the school fees, but let me save that.. The koko nah the admission Bruh.

I don't know about others, but from my Pure honest opinion, I think uniport Med school is the easiest Federal Med school to get into In the nation.

Happy new year mani.

I appreciate your time and effort on reply man. You just said everything I needed to hear. Thanks man.

Btw Happy New year everyone!!! I pray we all achieve greater heights this year

hello bosses in the house. I'm a medical aspirant, dentistry to be precise as we all know 2020 jamb is almost out but I have major problem which is I don't know which University I am going to choose yet. I am from osun state I put in unilag during the last jamb but my olevel is kinda of weak, 3b3, 1c4, and 1c5 also I flopped in the postume maths is not my thing so I end up scoring 12 in the postutme and also I had 257 in jamb, in short it all end in tears. I have gotten the necessary textbooks for the jamb and I am positive I am going to do better than before I am actually aiming for 320 now. I need suggestions on the best institution to put considering my state of origin, olevel result and my deficiency in maths.
please I need urgent reply.

As ShahRukhKhan has stated above the catchment stuff though has been abolished might still be used (Naija way).
Since you're from Osun state I'll recommend OAU too. You have a better chance there. And also their UTME is 50% post utme 40% and O'level 10% which according to what I heard is different from that of Unilag.

But at the end of the day, be sure to understand the system of the school you chose. Very important.

Also make sure you do your possible best to score as high as possible in your Utme to boost your chances.

There are institutions closer to you than OAU that are even easier to get admitted into. Unless you don't want to consider proximity of distance

Not really considering the distance tho.
But if I may ask bro what are the cons of schooling at a far distance from home?
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Commmy: 8:01am On Dec 31, 2019
ShahRukhKhan:

I guess you want to enter OAU via utme. Well just beat her merit cut off and you're in with 95% chance.
The minimum utme score needed is 320, anything less than that means you must clock 35/40 in OAU post utme to stand a chance. OAU post utme seems weighty and can either boost or drag you down. If your utme score isn't strong enough, please don't waste your time on Ife Mbchb.
Since you're from Delta, you'd be considered only on merit. Practice, revision and smart work should help.
If you don't mind, I'd suggest Uniben or Uniport save for if you're western states based.

I know I'll only be considered on merit reason why am putting my best in preparation. Let's see the outcome of my UTME first but OAU would be my first choice for now.

As for UNIPORT, do you know a lil about the medical school there?

I think the catchment area of a thing has been scraped. But this is Nigeria, you never know. Nevertheless just as any medical school out there you have to work really hard. Score as high as possible, ensure u have a good o level and do your best in the post utme because OAU post utme can be very tricky.

PS: There are several delta students here in college of health sciences. Once you meet the cut off no one will denial you admission.

Alright bro. Thanks for this piece.

And are you in the college of health science there?
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Commmy: 10:20am On Dec 30, 2019
Alexaonfleek:
Hmmm
Oau uses catchment area which will make it harder for you as a non indigene.
If you want oau, at least 300+ in jamb and also do very well in put me
Otherwise put in uniben, you have a higher chance there than oau.
Uniport too is good, but their admission is not all that transparent.
I think unical is okay too.
Otherwise put in delsu or any other state uni in the south south

Yea I'm aware the chance at uniben compared to oau for a Delta. But I believe if I'm able to meet the cut off then am good to go, right?

justflow1:
i put it to you that both are not absolutely the same thing.
Business Management degree equip graduates with policy making, building systems, process and other guidelines. for which the Business administrator then use that guidance to run the operation. Management is non linear as it deals with people, profit, innovation, competition, entrepreneurship and organizational systems.

Business administration is kind of streamlined, students are thought on how to take care of the administrative tasks, business administration functions is linear in nature. Hence, bureaucratic in outlook. It is concerned with things being done the way they ought to be done.

conclusion:
Administration is a subset of Management
your sister will sure b lucky if she could get Management, (i am not saying one is better than the other tho, but from the foregoing one will see that its self evident that one is more sophisticated than the other)
i studied Business Administration in the polytechnic, and i am currently in my penultimate studying Management in University of Nigeria
best of Luck to your sister.

Thanks for your detailed response. I get your point very well.

But in the Labour market is there any significant distinction between both degrees? like Business administrators being restricted to certain job opportunities that are meant solely for Business managers?

Also, success in your studies!!!

Hi Nairalanders...

Compliments of the season!!!

My younger sister wants to study BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION and her choice of school is Uniport.
A quick check at the website of the school shows Uniport doesn't offer BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION instead it's BUSINESS MANAGEMENT under faculty of management science.

So I want to know the difference between both degrees and which of them offers better opportunities?

Should she fill another school or go for the management course at Uniport?
