Abia people are the problem of Aba, they are all living in denial. They are always ready to project people like Orji kalu, TA Orji and his boy Okezie. They hate development.

Ttipsy:
which Abia is getting better?? the obvious fact still remains that there are more of bad roads in Abia state as a whole than the number of good roads here. take a trip to the popular Ariaria intl market... etc and many other prestigious places. the road are in a bad shape...

Abia state getting better today in terms of infrastructure more especially requires a good leader who has a core insight that Abia state esp Aba needs well structured infrastructure to enable the economy grow stronger.. forget propaganda Aba is a disgrace to some cities in the SE or SS in extension when being compared to them due to the bad shape of it's major roads and streets and the unruly attitudes of road side traders.

This is not an insult but a statement of fact.

NonsoWow:
Of a truth, Aba is a horrible sight to behold. You need to visit that town to get the full picture of its backwardness, desolation and rot. Spyder is just posting pictures of the very few surviving roads in town from the Sam Mbakwe era. Aba stinks! The degradation in that town will take much more than propaganda from the useless ikpeazu and his paid praise-singers to fix. As at today, Aba is only fit for animal habitation. We only wish this will change in the future, so that the shame that Aba is bringing upon the Igbo race can be wiped away. You only need to drive around with a first time visitor to Aba to hear the humiliating but genuinely truthful words about that decayed mess of a town.

Politics / Economic Development: We’re Taking Ogun Beyond Nigeria ―amosun by computerwiz2: 10:05am On Apr 21, 2018
Senator Ibikunle Amosun
THE Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday, said that his administration would take Ogun, the Gateway State, beyond the shores of Nigeria in terms of economic development.

He noted that the achievements so far recorded by his government would be consolidated upon for accelerated development in the overall interest of not only the State but Nigeria and Africa in general.

Amosun made this known while addressing newsmen on the 2018 Investors Forum with the theme “Consolidating the gains, accelerating growth”, at the MITROS Hall, Gateway Annex, Abeokuta.

The governor explained that 75 per cent of Foreign Direct Investment that came to Nigeria in 2016 and 2017 were domiciled in the state.

He added that 304 industries had berthed in the State since 2012 with some investing in between $50m and excess of $200m.

Amosun said that his administration which is less than 15 months would leave the state better and bigger than it was met.

“There is no day that we do not receive a request from investors and we are ready to partner with them. As we are exiting in 2019, we are leaving behind a system driven environment and anyone that is taking over from me would only consolidate on the works we have done.

Ogun is laying foundation for better future for students —Amosun
“Before we leave, people will not believe that this is Ogun State. We are encouraging more investors to come and partner with us. We have changed the face of the State and many people are identifying with the State.

“This is the reason why the World Bank is supporting us with the whopping sum of $350m. Also, we are getting assistance from DFID. They are happy with what is happening in the State,” he added.

The Forum slated to hold between March 20-21 according to the governor would be declared open by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Speaking on the Forum, the State Commissioners for Commerce and Industry, Bimbo Ashiru and Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina, explained that a lot of successes had been recorded since the Forum started four years ago.

Ofuzo:

Let's not worry about ambode and makoko. Let's discuss how onitsha and the rest of igboland will be salvaged by street trading, highway trading, sidewalk trading, residential properties with two, three and four attachments. Trading everywhere and anywhere. This is an igbo disease that MUST be solved. All igbo cities except owerri looks like SHITHOLE That's why I support the okorocha's government in banning keke and all it's other renewal projects. Two major initiatives which was a FIRST in igboland ie the free education system and the urban renewal projects was initiated by okorocha. The man have his other flaws, but history will surely remember him for those two things. Absolutely no doubt about that. I'm very very happy that anambra state is following suit. As a matter of fact, the entire igbo and igbo leaning states should follow suit. That's why I'm very happy to read this good news. Let concentrate on that instead of muddling the issue by bringing up ambode or makoko.

Health / Most Polluted Cities In The World 2018 by computerwiz2: 3:23pm On Apr 17, 2018
There is more trouble for residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, as it has been ranked among the world’s worst air polluted cities in the world.

The data for cities’ air quality index is analysed every day by AirVisual, a global air quality moitor founded in 2015, “on the belief that data enables action, and that without air quality data, the hazards of air pollution will remain invisible and unbeatable”, it wrote on its website, airvisual.com.

According to the latest ranking on Thursday, the most polluted city in the world is Delhi, the capital of India.

Lahore in Pakistan is second followed by Kolkata, India, Dhaka(Bangladesh), Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), Jerusalem(Israel), and Mumbai(India).

Others are Hanoi(Vietnam), Port Harcourt(Nigeria), and Kaohsiung(Taiwan).

Until this latest ranking, Onitsha and Aba, all in South East of Nigeria, had been reported the worst polluted towns in Nigeria.

Port Harcourt has been struggling with soot said to be the consequence of illegal refining of petroleum products by illegal bunkers.

In arriving at its results, AirVisual says it applies artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing to map complex, nonlinear air pollution trends accurately and efficiently. The method employs deep machine learning - a process of simplifying data by learning multiple levels of representations and abstractions.

Politics / 2019: VON DG, Okechukwu Attacks Okorocha For Pitting Catholic Church Against APC by computerwiz2: 1:48pm On Apr 03, 2018
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, has attacked the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, for pitting the Catholic Church against the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Okechukwu said Okorocha’s actions could further pit the church against President Muhammadu Buhari.

The VON DG said he read a report credited to Okorocha where he allegedly “dared” Archbishop Anthony Obinna that he cannot install an All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as governor in Imo State in 2019.

Speaking with Sun, the APC chieftain, however, called on the people of Imo State and Ndigbo worldwide not to take Okorocha as a “poster card” of APC.

Okechukwu said, “What we lost in APC is because of him. He is a man who doesn’t believe in himself and he tells himself lies.

“My worry is that Okorocha should separate religion from politics.

“I remember vividly how he took President Buhari and all of us before the 2015 election to Archbishop Obinna, who welcomed Buhari wholeheartedly.

“In fact, when we finished the preamble, we were not privileged to go into the inner reserve where the archbishop took Buhari and APC leadership to.

“As a member, I was not privileged to be in that inner circle, but from my calculation, it showed acceptance and support from an archbishop of a big diocese like Owerri Archdiocese, one of the biggest archdioceses in the Catholic kingdom all over the world.

“So, Governor Okorocha should please stop pitting the great Catholic Church against the APC and, by extension, President Buhari.”

Crime / Owerri Bank Robbery: Pastor Arrested By Police For Keeping Rifles In Church by computerwiz2: 6:50am On Mar 01, 2018
Policemen attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police Command have arrested the founder of Jesus The Rock of Salvation Healing Ministry, Uratta, in the Owerri North Local Government Area of the state, Pastor Chiedozie Anochima, in connection with the February 22, 2017, robbery in a bank.

The attack on the Wetheral Road branch of Zenith Bank in Owerri, the state capital, left two policemen dead, with another injured, while one of the armed robbers was gunned down during the operation.

The police, who had since rounded up the fleeing members of the gang, said the arrest of the cleric during a church service last Sunday was a major breakthrough in the investigation of the crime.

A police source said on Wednesday that the arrest of the last member of the gang, Chinonso Onwugbuchlam, one year after the incident, helped the police to arrest the pastor.

The source disclosed that it was in the course of interrogation that Onwugbuchlam, who was arrested by F-SARS operatives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, mentioned the pastor’s name.

He said, “Onwugbuchulam named one Pastor Chiedozie Anochima as one of them. The pastor is 36 years old and he is the founder of Jesus The Rock of Salvation Healing Ministry, a church in Urratta, in the Owerri North LGA.”

The source told PUNCH Metro that Onwugbuchulam confessed that the pastor kept the gang’s rifles after operations and prayed for them for protection.

“Onwuegbuchulam led the F-SARS operatives to his church where we arrested him during a church service. The pastor was surprised to see us. We swooped on him and arrested him immediately. That was last Sunday,”the source said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said the arrest of the cleric was a big breakthrough for the command.

He said, “Yes, it is true. We have arrested the pastor and he is with us. You know that criminal investigation is like kerosene; it spreads. The more you investigate a crime, the more it spreads.

“We are working harder to make sure that all those involved in the bank robbery at Zenith Bank in 2017, do not escape justice. We will parade the pastor before newsmen very soon.”

Our correspondent gathered that the arrest of the pastor, which caused a stir during the church service, made members of his church to flee.

Politics / Ohakim Threatens To Protest Unclad Against Non-payment Of Imo Judges by computerwiz2: 9:20am On Feb 06, 2018
Ex-governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has threatened to protest naked against the non-payment of judges in the state. He said the high court judges had not been paid for about 16 months, describing the situation as ‘scandalous.’

Ohakim alleged that the state government had also failed to pay about N7 billion, which the courts ordered it to be paid to those concerned. He said unless the issue was resolved, his protest would hold along Wethdral Road, Owerri, the state capital, especially as he has no pending case in the courts.

The ex-governor disclosed his plans in an interview with journalist at his residence in Prefab, Owerri, the state capital.Ohakim said, he could not watch as the judges continue to suffer or die because of their inability to afford hospital bills.Ohakim said he was using the media to inform the Inspector General of Police; Idris Abubakar about his planned protest, which, he said, would hold in March 2018.

According to him, he had written to Governor Rochas Okorocha on the matter, and also asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief Justice of Nigeria to intervene urgently.

Attempts to confirm the government’s reaction were unsuccessful. Several calls made to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, including text messages were not answered, hours before filing this report.

Ohakim said: “A governor is not bigger than the judiciary. For one year and four months, no judge in Imo State has received a kobo as salary. They are being intimidated, as some are often called into a room and warned.

“Unfortunately, no body wants to speak for these judges. But, I want to congratulate the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for instituting legal action against Okorocha’s administration on the issue.”He expressed concern at the government’s resort to delay tactics, by instituting preliminary objections to the matter.

Meanwhile, Ohakim has disclosed his intention to run for the upcoming governorship election in the state. He accused Okorocha of destabilising the ‘institution of governance,’ and expressed the hope of winning the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. He urged the people to support his re-election bid the same way they did in 2007.

The former governor revealed that he left N26.3 billion in the coffers in 2011 for Okorocha, and promised that if re-elected, he would return the demolished Eke Ukwu Market from Umomiri to Douglas Road. The ex-governor lamented that the sufferings in the land has led to higher deaths and an increased number of mortuaries from 11 to over 22.

Health / Lassa Fever Kills Three In Imo State by computerwiz2: 8:19pm On Jan 24, 2018
At least three persons have been confirmed dead following the outbreak of Lassa fever in Imo State.

Markets and other public places were partially deserted on Wednesday when news of the victims’ death filtered into town.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Angela Uwakwem, confirmed the incident in a chat with our correspondent.

She said: “Lassa fever is in Owerri. It has been confirmed.”

The commissioner said the three persons who contacted the disease, died after they were taken out of the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owerri.

Uwakwem added: “We have seven suspected cases of Lassa fever in the state. Three are confirmed dead. The Imo State government is working hard to establish the point of the first contact. The media should equally help us to enlighten our people."

“People should stop the unnecessary shaking of hands. People should equally stop eating exposed food. The virus is caused by rats, so people should be encouraged to make use of rat poison in their homes.”

The Chief Medical Director of FMC, Dr. Kingsley Achigbu, said the Lassa fever victims who were referred to the hospital were later referred out.

The state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has also confirmed the death of the three victims.

Though the governor did not disclose the identities of the victims, he assured that the state government has taken necessary steps to bring the situation under control.

“This morning we woke up to hear that Lassa fever has killed three persons and we also have seven cases of Lassa fever patients and this number is too large for a state. And we are concerned about the speed of spread. These cases were recorded in some hospitals, somewhere in Orlu and some other parts of the state. For this reason, we kindly advise that people should avoid overcrowded areas, lessen the shaking of hands, and body contacts at this period,” Okorocha stated.

Politics / “Okorocha Is Not A Role Model For Anything”-Pat Utomi Slams Imo State Governor by computerwiz2: 7:05pm On Jan 12, 2018
Patrick Okedinachi Utomi, a Nigerian professor of political economy and management expert, has dismissed the Imo state governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha, as unworthy to be labeled a role model. The professor of economics said this during an interview with SaharaTV, in reaction to the comment of Mr. Okorocha about the performance of the current administration.

When asked; “governor Rochas Okorocha just said that 89% of Nigerians are not satisfied with the Buhari administration, do you agree with him?” Mr. Utomi chuckled then questioned how the governor came about the statistics.

“My goodness, I don’t know where he did the survey and I am not quite sure Governor Rochas Okorocha Is a role model for anything,” Mr. Utomi said.

However, he conceded that the APC led federal government has not fulfilled many of its manifestos. He also acknowledged that the party was not as organized as it should be when it got to power, adding that this was the reason for some of the “hijacks” earlier witnessed in the party.

He said; “We have just come from nearly two decades of a political party that has a certain culture that has taken our country very far. Unfortunately, I don’t think our party was as well organized when it got to power as it should be. So, a bit of hijack took place.

Politics / Gov. Okorocha Attacks Economic Team For Exposing Debt, State Of Imo Economy by computerwiz2: 8:35am On Jan 09, 2018
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has lambasted his economic team led by Prof. Maurice Iwu for allegedly leaking the outcome of a private meeting held at Government House, Owerri, to the public.

The Prof. Iwu-led Imo Economic Development Initiative had visited the governor to discuss issues affecting the state.

The issues were the debt status of the state, which the group said stood at N93 billion; economy of the state; donor agencies, the ban of Keke operations in the state capital, IGR and poverty level among others.

The governor had before the meeting which was held behind closed doors, directed all those coming for the meeting to drop their phones with the protocol personnel at the entrance of the venue.

In a statement signed and made available to reporters in Owerri yesterday, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sam Onwuemeodo accused Iwu and his team of leaking the discussions to the press.

The statement said for this reason the economic team did not deserve government’s respect.

He said, “Less than 48 hours, the story of the meeting was everywhere in the media with some of them quoting from the document Prof. Iwu read. Which means the team released the document they came with to the press.

“And by so doing, justifying the initial observations of the governor concerning the timing of the meeting and the political inclinations and aspirations of key members of the team.

“For that reason, we do not think that Prof. Iwu and his team deserve our respect again, having abused the respect we had extended to them, since one does not eat his cake and still have it.

“We have always maintained that the 2019 election will be left for Imo people to decide at the poll with regard to who will govern the state after Governor Okorocha. It is not by tricks. We have our achievements to show the difference between us and all those before us.

“And they know that it will be difficult for Imo people not to listen to Rochas when the time comes with regard to his monumental achievements.

“It is going to be achievements galore versus propaganda stuff. And your guess will be as good as mine, on the one that would mean much to Imo people when the time comes.
