Legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2016 Ballon D’Or award, his fourth time of winning the award. Ronaldo led Real Madrid to a record 11th UEFA Champions League title in May, before carrying Portugal to an historic UEFA Euro success weeks later. He had previously won the award in 2008, 2013 and 2014. The 31-year old also had a phenomenal year stats wise, scoring 51 goals in 54 games for club and country in 2016. “It is a special moment. It means that all my sacrifice was worth it. I feel very happy to win this. I worked very hard,” Ronaldo said in accepting the award. While majority of the music world was worried about the mental health of rapper Kanye West, it might all have been a scam. According to Rick Ross, anyways. Speaking at an appearance in New York City, Rozay, who's worked with Kanye on multiple occasions in the past, called him a "genius". Bishop Akan Weeks of the Reigners Bible Church Int’l Inc has made his first statement following the collapse of the church building in Uyo. A huge congregation had gathered in the church to celebrate Weeks' consecration as a bishop when the building collapsed, killing over 30 people. Weeks himself was injured in the incident, and is currently in the hospital receiving treatment. Halima Modu-Sheriff, daughter of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff married Nigerian Army Captain, Ronnie Dankabo in an elaborate ceremony over the weekend. Captain Dankabo is an aide-de-camp to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai. Halima is a graduate of the Canadian University in Dubai, and is currently a fashion designer. The United Nations has called on Gambian president Yahya Jammeh to step down following his loss in the country's December 1's presidential elections. Jammeh had lost to president-elect Adama Barrow, and had surprisingly conceded victory in a speech following the elections. Following a slight accounting error by the election-governing body, Jammeh had withdrawn his concession, and is demanding a new election. In a statement issued by his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon told Jammeh to respect the decision of the people. Manchester United Jose Mourinho has played down the extent of star winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan's injury after he was stretchered off in United's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. The Armenian scored the only goal of the game as the Red Devils registered a much needed win, but a tackle from Danny Rose in the 81st minute prevented him from finishing the game. The Confederation of African Football has released the full nominee list for the 2016 Glo CAF Awards, which will be held on January 5, 2017. The body had previously released the five nominees for its most coveted award, the CAF Player of The Year. Saido Mane, Riyad Mahrez, Mohammed Salah, Islam Slimani and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were the players nominated for the award. 7 Nigerians were nominated in the other categories, including English Premier League duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi, and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala. A 2-1 victory over Spain was not enough to secure passage into the knockout stages for the Nigeria as they crashed out of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The Falconets finished the group stage level on points with Spain and Japan, but had the worst goal difference of the three. Kevin Durant had made one of the most controversial off-season moves when he swapped the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors weren't the only team courting Durant in the free agency, and one of the teams he had rejected was the Boston Celtics. C's fans weren't too happy about this, ad they let their feelings known when Durant and the Warriors arrived at the TD Garden for their NBA fixture against the Celtics. Once upon a time, Nokia was the leader of the mobile phone industry. With a bevy of 4-digit named brands such as the 3310, 6020 and much more, there was always a Nokia phone in every home. When the smartphone revolution began, Nokia failed to keep up with the new big boys like Samsung and Apple. A partnership with Microsoft for the Lumia was the company's attempt to stay fighting, but it fell short too. Having take some time off to apparently re-strategize, Nokia is ready to return to the industry. The announcement was made at Nokia's Capital Markets Day 2016, with the company stating that 2017 will represent "Nokia brand's return to smartphones." Celebrity couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are expecting their second child soon, and according to Kutcher, he's not getting to name the child. In an interview on Wednesday night with Conan O'Brien, Kutcher revealed that he wanted to name the child Hawkeye, but Kunis refused the idea. "There was a rallying cry from a collective that believed in the name Hawkeye," he explained. "I'm an Iowan, to have a kid named Hawkeye [after the University of Iowa football team], and it's like, MASH. He could be a doctor!" MASH was a TV show in the 80s about 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in the Korean War, and featured a character named Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce. The exact location where the incident occurred is currently unknown, but photos and videos surfaced on social media early Wednesday morning. There is a beef between UFC champion Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., and the beef is getting pretty big. Comparisons were drawn between the two after McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday to win the lightweight belt, becoming the first double champion in the competition's history. With the pair not already on the best of terms, Mayweather, in typical Mayweather fashion, called the comparisons "disrespectful." Two goals in Chile's 3-1 win over Uruguay means Alexis Sanchez is now one goal away from being Chile's top goalscorer ever. He had suffered a low grade hamstring tear last week, and there were doubts that he'd be able to play for Chile in the crucial World Cup qualifier. Soulja Boy has joined everybody else in participating in the Mannequin Challenge, but his video might just land him in trouble. The Crank Dat rapper shared his video on his Instagram page, with a couple of his friends joining him for the challenge.
