Selective democracy you mean ? |
This post reminds me of the folly of my youth. Ah, what an excessive sleep has cost me! A tale I have told my children, and surely, they shall pass it on to their own, that my misfortune may not be in vain. It is an encounter that fills my heart with both joy and sorrow. Joy, for it is long gone—besides, who among men can turn back the hands of time? Sorrow, for what was taken from me that fateful night. But I shall tell this story, for I grow old, and an old tongue loves to wag. It was on a certain night in Ikeja that I crossed paths with Gladis, a Yoruba maiden of striking beauty—though her trade was one of the night. As I made my way home from a lively evening at the bar with my dear friend Osoego (may his soul rest in peace), fate willed that I should stop. Oh, Osoego! One day, I shall see you again, in a place where there is neither sickness nor worries. I only hope they serve beer in the world beyond. But back to my tale… It was not my intention to go home with a harlot that night. Nay, I was resolved to be a man of virtue. But alas, Gladis’ beauty, and the twin treasures upon her chest, made my neatly polished Peugeot 406 come to a halt of its own accord. She did not waste time with bargaining, for the sight of my car alone had declared me a man of wealth. Ah, what a night! She was the best thing that ever graced my bed. So much so, I thought of sending my wife—who still resided in the village with my mother—packing. But, who marries a prostitute? She served me with such skill and devotion that I resolved in my heart to double her pay by morning. But the night was long, and the flesh was weak. It was a break-and-quench affair, a battle of strength and endurance, until the very cock itself grew weary of crowing. At last, at 3AM, we fell into the arms of slumber. The next time I opened my eyes, 12pm And lo, Gladis was gone. My gold chain was gone. My wallet was gone. Even now, I still long to see Gladis again—not for retribution, nor to reclaim my stolen possessions. Nay! For another round of that sweet, unforgettable encounter. For truly, what she took from me was not even enough to pay for the greatest night of my lifetime. God bless Gladis. |

dawnomike:Which part of Lagos state ? |
I have a business that will keep me in Lagos for 18 months, so I decided to secure accommodation before relocating—I hate being stranded. Knowing that rent on the island is quite high, I focused my search on Main land . Omo, the cheapest room and parlor apartment I found was ₦1.2M, with a total package of ₦1.6M. Another agent even quoted ₦2M as the total package for the same type of apartment. I’d love to get some insight into how much you all are paying to see if these agents are overpricing or trying to rip me off. Also, if you have any advice on renting in Lagos for a JJC like me, please share. Thanks 🙏 |
In summary Enugu youths, under the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), have warned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over his remarks against Governor Peter Mbah. In a statement, NYCN Enugu Chairman, Chukwuebuka Bartholomew Okoh, condemned Wike’s comments as divisive and harmful to PDP unity. He urged Wike to adopt a more diplomatic approach and avoid actions that could destabilize the party, particularly in the South-East. Reaffirming their support for Mbah, the youth body called on PDP leaders to focus on strengthening the party rather than engaging in internal conflicts |

Everything summarized for you 👇🏼 Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has left the APC for the SDP, citing the party’s abandonment of internal democracy and its founding principles. El-Rufai, a key figure in the APC’s formation and its electoral victories, now aims to unite the opposition to challenge the APC in 2027. El-Rufai’s political journey spans multiple parties—PDP, CPC, APC, and now SDP. Once a prominent technocrat under Obasanjo, he became FCT Minister, earning a reputation as “Mr. Demolition.” Later, as Kaduna Governor (2015-2023), he was influential within the APC. His fallout with the APC began when he was denied a ministerial position in Tinubu’s government. He criticized the party’s leadership, internal decay, and economic policies. Tensions escalated with NSA Nuhu Ribadu, whom he accused of blocking his appointment and tarnishing his reputation. El-Rufai’s defection signals a major political realignment, with talks of a grand coalition to unseat Tinubu. However, challenges remain—opposition disunity, Tinubu’s political strength, and El-Rufai’s own polarizing image. His move could be a strategic gamble or a path to political obscurity. |
