Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah Scrambles To Cover Up Certificate Forgery Scandal-PREMIUM TIMES

Embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and her associates have spent the last several hours scrambling to clean up the minister’s biographies on the Internet, following allegations that she lied about her academic qualifications, PREMIUM TIMES can report today.

News website, SaharaReporters, had Monday quoted authorities at St. Paul’s College, where Mrs. Oduah claimed she studied for Bachelor and Masters degrees, as saying they did not award her an MBA at anytime as the university does not even have a graduate school or graduate programme.

The minister is yet to respond to the allegations. Efforts by PREMIUM TIMES to get her to comment for this story were unsuccessful.

Joe Obi, her special assistant on media, did not answer or return calls.

Yakubu Datti, the spokesperson of the aviation agencies, who usually speak for her, said he was not aware of the allegation against the minister, and that he would revert after consulting the minister. He is yet to do so as at the time of publishing this.

However, this newspaper has observed an attempt by the minister and her aides to revise her profiles on the web with a view to cleaning up any reference to St. Paul’s College in her history.

Already, Mrs. Oduah’s biography on the website of the Ministry of Aviation has been revised, with references to St. Paul’s College now wiped out.

Stella Oduah's new bio without a university

“Oduah-Ogiemwonyi received her Bachelors and Masters Degree (in Accounting and Business Administration respectively) in the United States,” the new profile said of Mrs. Oduah’s education, without any reference to the university she attended.

The Wikipedia page of the minister has also been hurriedly edited, and it now has no reference to the university Mrs. Oduah attended.

All links and reference materials on the Wikipedia page capable of linking the minister to the university that has disowned her have also been deleted.

Even the minister’s personal website has been reviewed to remove any reference to St. Paul’s College.
While the links leading to Mrs. Oduah’s foundation and photographs remain active, the other principal link, which should lead to her history page, has been deactivated.

It’s unclear whether it was being edited at the backend when PREMIUM TIMES visited the site.
Mrs. Oduah had in a resume she presented to the Senate as a ministerial nominee in 2011 indicated that she obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, United States.

Stella Oduah’s new Wikipedia page without a university

But SaharaReporters quoted the President of the college as saying his university had never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program.

The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said in response to the website’s inquiries, “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”

The school’s website also indicates clearly that Saint Paul’s College awards only baccalaureate [bachelor’s] degrees.

It is not clear yet whether the minister received an undergraduate degree from the college as she claimed. SaharaReporters said Dr. Claud Flythe, the college’s current president was unable to confirm that claim because the college had been closed since June 2013 after it lost accreditation.

Mrs. Oduah had since October being enmeshed in a a N255million armoured cars scandal in which she was accused of compelling an agency under her supervision, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to buy her two exotic bullet cars at clearly inflated prices.

The purchase of the cars generated outrage for weeks because its cost was inflated, and it was neither listed in the government-approved budget nor did it comply with the Nigeria’s public procurement law.

The House of Representatives has since asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the minister but the president has failed to act.

SR told us Madam Peace had surgery in German, it was denied again until Madam Peace gave thanksgiving in church.

SR told us Mr President was a drunk, it was denied, until evidence surfaced.

SR told us a 255m worth of cars were bought. It was also denied, until House of Reps probed the allegation.

Genny is currently staying at D'banj's Lekki home, and I hear they are already talking marriage. Yes I said marriage. Almost 500 PDP Chieftains In Sambo’s LGA Decamps To APC

In a move to further confirm his political irrelevance in the North, about 500 chieftains of ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Vice President Namadi Sambo’s home base local government in Kaduna State will on Wednesday morning finally decamp to All Progressive Congress (APC).

A competent source in the Presidency confirmed to SaharaReporters, that Sambo who hailed from Kaduna North local government have been going through hard political moment recently, and was tip of the move on arriving Kaduna this evening.

A pro-President Goodluck Jonathan organization, Youth for Change Initiative had on Sunday appealed his ousted as Jonathan’s running mate in 2015 election due to what they described as ‘weaknesses and failed Vice President’ from the North who has failed to form a political base.

The source said, “We got tips and it is true, about 500 chieftains of our party in Sambo’s own local government, Kaduna North local government area of Kaduna State will join APC, it is unfortunate that his relevance keeps diminishing astronomically.”

The source added that in the same local government, all elected representatives are members of APC, he explained, “The LGA chairman is APC, all members in the State and National Assemblies are APC. The Senator too, and it is a bad omen for a sitting Vice President to be left in such a political cold.”

It would be recall that Sambo lost all elections in his own polling unit situated at Camp Road, Kaduna during 2011 elections that later turned out to be bloody.

As at the time of publishing this report, Sambo’s office is yet to respond to the development. But another source in Kaduna said he will be in the town for four days, following crucial issues related to PDP abysmal failure and crisis emanating from an open letter addressed to him by his associate, one Engr. Umar Gana who exposed his political weaknesses in the state and North-West Zone.

“Iyetade leaves behind two children, both parents, numerous siblings, nieces and nephews.”

No funeral arrangements were announced in the statement. SaharaReporters was unable to reach Professor Soyinka before press time.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole

Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole survived a motor accident at Ewu Village along the ever-busy Benin-Auchi road in Edo State at about 9.45am Saturday, 28th December 2013 on his way back to Benin City from his Iyamho Village. The incident occurred at about 9.45am at Ewu, in Edo Central Senatorial District, when a Peugeot J5 Bus filled with tomatoes and plantains apparently lost control and rammed into the Governor’s Flag Car from the opposite direction before swerving into a roadside ditch.

Three vehicles in the Governor’s convoy were in front of the Governor’s Flag Car and had passed the Peugeot J5 Bus before it [J5 Bus] had direct impact with the Governor’s car, which had the Governor, his Aide-De-Camp [ADC] and his Driver as occupants. The Governor’s Car was badly affected but both occupants of the Peugeot J5 Bus and that of the Governor’s sustained no injuries.

The Peugeot J5 Bus was following a truck that was descending the Ewu Slope when it suddenly veered off into the Governor’s lane from the opposite direction and directly impacted on the Governor’s vehicle, apparently because of brake failure. The good story is that nobody sustained injuries in both vehicles. The Comrade Governor is hale and hearty, his ADC and other occupants of the Peugeot J5 are also in good condition.

The incident has been reported to the Divisional Police Station at Ewu for further investigation. This is to assure all good people of Edo State that there is no cause for alarm. Their loving Comrade Governor is fine, hale and hearty as well as other occupants of the other affected vehicle. The Comrade Governor is wishing everyone a prosperous new year ahead.
Signed

Prince Kassim Afegbua
Special Adviser, Media & Public Affairs.

SaharaReporters Media Warned Of Planned ‘Major’ Assault By Abuja On Its Operators and Operations

SaharaReporters Media would like to alert its readers, fans, supporters, commentators, columnists and whistle blowers it has learned authoritatively of a plan by the Nigerian government and several of its affiliates and cronies to inflict a major assault on its producers and reporters, and blackmail the website.

Our source says the plan follows the Abuja regime’s worry about the relentless groundbreaking reporting and unflinching by SaharaReporters to compromize, going into the 2015 election year, of the corrupt and incompetent governance in Nigeria. Part of the plot involves blocking SaharaReporters and SaharaTV reception in Nigeria.

SaharaReporters has in the last five years had incidents of attempted hacking of its website, as well as spurious lawsuits funded by successive Nigerian governments and its agents that we have successfully navigated. In some cases, we do not know who attempted or implemented those attacks.

While we lack the limitless resources of those who would like to shut down or compromise our operations, we stubbornly intend to continue to expose, with every tool available to us, the elements and practices that hold Nigeria and Africa down.

This pledge is sacrosanct, as we have demonstrated in the past, no matter who or what is in power. We appeal to all those who seek the best of and for Africa to be resolute and to remain unbowed and unshaken with us, no matter the outcome of this latest plot.

We will provide developments or details as they become available.

NNPC Diverted $49.8 billion Meant For The Nigerian Treasury Between 2012-13, Says Central Bank Governor In A letter To President Jonathan
Posted: December 9, 2013 - 18:06

CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi Lamido
By Saharareporters, New York
SaharaReporters has uncovered a document in which the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) complained to President Goodluck Jonathan about the continuing refusal of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to honour its legal obligations, including failure to remit $49.8 billion to the Federation Account between 2012 and 2013. That amount represents 76% of the value of crude oil liftings during the period.

The CBN complaints are contained in a letter to the President dated 25 September 2013.

“Our analysis of the value of crude oil export proceeds based on the documentation received from pre-shipment inspectors shows that between January 2012 and July 2013, NNPC lifted 594,024,107 barrels of crude valued at $65,332,350,514.57,” the letter said. “Out of this amount, NNPC repatriated only $15,528,410,098.77 representing 24% of the value. This means the NNPC is yet to account for, and repatriate to the Federation Account, an amount in excess of $49.804 billion of the value of oil lifted in the same period.”

Drawing attention to an attached table of analysis of the crude oil liftings and repatriations as prepared by the CBN, Governor Sanusi noted that the failure of the NNPC to repatriate the amounts constitutes not only a violation of constitutional provisions but also of both Nigeria’s foreign exchange and pre-shipment inspection of exports laws.

Also drawing attention to previous occasion in which he had expressed concern about what appeared to be shortfalls in remittances to the Federation Account in spite of the strong recovery in the price of oil, Mr. Sanusi said that a point of departure ought to be to insist that the NNPC account fully for all proceeds that were diverted from its accounts with the CBN and the Federation Account.

“As an indicator of how bad this situation has become, please note that in 2012 alone, the Federation Account received $28.51 billion in Petroleum Profits and related taxes but only $1013 from crude oil proceeds,” he informed Mr. Jonathan. “In the period January-July 2013, the corresponding figures are $16.65 billion and $5.39 billion, respectively. This means, Your Excellency, that in the first seven months of the year, taxes accounted for 76% of the total inflow from this sector, while NNPC crude oil proceeds accounted for only 24%.”

Mr. Sanusi specifically recommended to the President to:

Require NNPC to provide evidence for disposal of all proceeds of crude sales diverted from the CBN and Federation Account;
Investigate crude oil lifting and swap contracts, as well as the financial transactions of counter-parties for equity, fairness and transparency; and
Authorise prosecution of suspects in money-laundering transactions, including but not limited to BDCs who are unable to account for hundreds of millions of dollars.
It is unclear if Mr. Jonathan has read the letter. Despite claims of fighting corruption, he does not normally take any anti-corruption action against members of his cabinet or implement any reports, and NNPC is famously supervised by Petroleum Resources Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, one of his closest confidantes within the cabinet.

He expressed his respect for first lady, Patience Jonathan, but also mentions the inaccurate role he believes she is playing in politics: "She (Patience Jonathan) tries to insist that I must tell her what I'm doing in government...She is the wife of the President. I can only respect her". Gov. Amaechi also explains the controversy between the Nigerian Governor's Forum and Pres. Goodluck Jonathan. He notes that "We governors are change agents. We can work with the President tomorrow but we must see a change agenda from him". The relationship between President Jonathan and Gov. Amaechi began deteriorating since early 2013 because of Gov. Amaechi's personal political ambitions.

Whats the difference between the old and new PDP? They both have something in common (corruption and voilence). Nigeria is a crawling giant and everybody takes us as a joke of the century. Nothing substantial will change until Nigerians stand up for their right.

Just want to ask, why are our schools not teaching "moral educations"? I'm currently studying ICT (information and communication technology) and they are actually teaching us morals. Believe me, this subject will change how Nigerians think and act. I keep wondering why it is not been taught in our schools.

TravelMalaysia Condo Ban ‘African’ Tenants by coninse(op): 11:08pm On Aug 28, 2013
At Subang condo, ban against ‘African’ tenants.

PETALING JAYA, Aug 26 — “African” tenants at a Bandar Sri Subang condominium here have three months to vacate their units after the building’s management slapped an unprecedented occupancy ban on them last week.

The decision came after the majority of Ridzuan Condominium residents voted in an annual general meeting (AGM) held on July 6 against renting their units to foreigners from the continent, whom they allege to have “caused a lot of nuisance”.

The Malay Mail Online sighted a copy of the memo circulated to Ridzuan residents explaining the ban, which has also been making the rounds online through Facebook.

“We refer to the above matter without prejudice and without malice,” the memo dated August 19 started.

“As a result of the decision held in the AGM on 6th July 2013, the majority of the residents voted in the AGM to not letting their units for rental to Africans any more.”

The memo on the move banning the renting of units to ‘African’ tenants affixed to a notice board at Ridzuan Condominium.
According to the memo, the presence of Africans has created “a lot of nuisance and problems to the community”, which in turn has driven down the property value of units there.

It further asserts that owners have found it difficult to rent out or sell their units to other prospective customers due to the alleged situation.

“It was also resolved during the AGM that any resident who has an African tenant is to cancel the rental and to vacate them from their units within three (3) months from the date of this letter,” it added.

It did not, however, specify the course of action — if any — that would be taken by the management should an owner or African tenant fail to comply.

It was also unclear how they plan to enforce the ban, with the only criterion being “African”.

The circular neglected to specify if this ban will apply along the lines of ethnicity or nationality, nor does it mention who would be the final arbiter should any party dispute the “African” label.

The memo was signed by a Jerry Low Boon Chay, who was named as chairman of Joint Management Body (JMB) of Ridzuan Condominium.

A member of the JMB, who refused to be named, confirmed the authenticity of the memo to The Malay Mail Online through a phone call last week, and admitted to sending the memo to residents on behalf of Low.

During a subsequent visit to the condominium on Saturday, The Malay Mail Online discovered the same memo affixed to a notice board within the grounds of the property.

Ridzuan is a 14-year-old condominium situated near the PJS10 lake park, with units from 590-sq ft; rental starts from RM1,300 a month.

Residents are mostly families and working adults, and Ridzuan started out as a high-end condominium complete with a swimming pool, gymnasium and tennis court, but property analysts have noted a downward trend for its value in recent years.

Situated near a number of private tertiary institutions such as Sunway University, Taylor’s University, the Malaysian campus of Monash University, and INTI International University, Ridzuan has been home to mostly Malaysian students since 2002.

None of the aforementioned institutions are within walking distance to the condominium, and students commute via shuttle buses provided by their schools or drive their own cars, contributing to daily traffic congestion around the area.

The condominium is, however, some 15 minutes’ walk away from popular shopping mall Sunway Pyramid and close to the Sunway Mentari business area, which provides students access to entertainment and nightlife.

Property website PropWall has reported that Ridzuan frequently suffers from petty crimes due to lax security, while its previous management had also been embroiled in a recent financial fraud case.

The ban may be the first attempt of its kind reported in Malaysia after years of alleged discrimination and hostility towards the oft-maligned African community, including in mainstream media.

Despite being a continent of 54 countries with diverse and distinct ethnicities, cultures, languages and societies, its migrants are commonly pigeonholed using the “African” catchall, while the derogatory label “Awang Hitam” (literally, Black Fellow) is also used by Malay-language dailies in reference to their dominant skin colour.

The negative perception towards African migrants in Malaysia is believed to stem from the frequency of cases of drug smuggling, financial scams, frauds and sex crimes reportedly involving the group.

But it is also not a local stereotype. The ubiquity of online confidence tricks involving Nigerians, in particular, saw the global law enforcement community dub such swindles as the “Nigerian 419 scam”, with 419 being a reference to the country’s Criminal Code for fraud.

Malaysia’s Immigration Department reported that a total of 79,352 Africans entered the country last year.

The department also issued 25,467 student visas to Africans in 2012 to study in public or private institutions.

PoliticsDear Men, Beat Your Woman In Lagos And Go To Jail by coninse(op): 12:48pm On Aug 05, 2013
Dear men, beat your woman in Lagos and go to jail
There's a new Domestic Violence Law in Lagos State, and it states that if you beat your wife, you will go to Jail. It is now an offense for any man to hit his wife.

According to the deputy governor of Lagos State, Hon Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the Domestic Violence Law is made not only to protect women who are most times the target of violence in the home but also to safeguard the interest of men, children, servants, maids and everyone who may be a victim of domestic violence.

In case of man/woman abuse issues, it does not matter whether there's a valid contracted marriage between the victim and the perpetrator of the act as long as they are living together in a home setting. Continue...

Here's what happens when there's a case of domestic violence.
1. Remove the abuser from the home pending when the abuse is corrected
2. Or remove the complainant from the residence and put in a protective home
3. Provision of financial assistance by the state via the Office of the Public Defender/Legal Aid Council to victims of abuse who maybe financially unable to seek redress in court.
4. The court can issue warrant of arrest and remand order
