its been a while boss. Its been over 1 year and six month using the civic and I'm enjoying the car, its fun too drive, very fast acceleration, it's actually a beast on the road... my major problem is getting the actual part for the car, as the part used in this civic spec is not readily available in Nigeria, the parts are totally different from the regular civic of the same year..

The engin and gear is in good condition as I often paid attention too the dashboard light and repair accordingly..

It's using electric power steering. I'm using mobil oil 5w-30 the Ash cover about 50k now and change every 4month or 4000km... the car is still in perfect condition

That's how someone was arguing with me that driving a vehicle on ehailing without thermostat is not an issue, that after 30 mins to an hour the engine temperature will rise and reach its normal level.

I then asked him only one question and till today he hasn't given me an answer, the question was . . .

How can you be using thick engine 20w50 oil and driving with a cold engine for more than 2 hours in total everyday and believe your engine will last more than 3 years without losing compression or smoking?

Guess what the guy later said, he started yabbing me that it's poverty mentality that makes a person drive a vehicle for more than 3 years without changing it that its only here in nigeria its done that he will sell the car and buy another one to keep driving when the one he's using gets bad (the said vehicle is just 2 years in his possession)

I then asked him, so all those 2010 corolla that we import tokumbo from yankee to tincan and buy for N8 million naira has had its engine changed at least 3 times according to your logic? because the guy said that it's not only one owner that used the vehicle in Yankee before it was shipped down here then I asked him again, so did the first owner change the engine before selling to the second owner who also changed the engine before selling to the 3rd owner who later changed the engine before having it shipped down to Nigeria? Just because they are 'rich oyibo people'?

I suspect my transmission side mounts, I can hear some faint thump when I brake or the car downshifts. This car was bought new in Nigeria, and none of the mounts except the top one was bad which I've changed. I'll check the bottom tranny mount tomorrow. Also, the engine hasn't been opened before, neither is the gear. As for the throttle body, It doesn't throw any code and car moves well, so i doubt. The IACV is on the throttle body right?

I forgot to add, my Belt tensioner is loose. The Hole where the knot is supposed to go is stripped. I'm scared of these guys removing the engine, because that's the only way they can retread it.

Could that also contribute to the vibration?

I think I will check the throttle body again for the IACV and clean it, I will also check the lower mounts.

I'm not so sure about the harmonic balancer.

At the bolded above concerning your tensioner, I doubt its issues will contribute as much vibration as having each of the other 4 options I listed above.

Harmonic balancer issues can arise if you've ever had a timing chain work done in the past.

Engine mounts have China and tokumbo. Using China mounts in strategic locations will always give vibrations. Use proper original mounts always to eliminate this. The mounts that cause vibrations on idle are mostly the engine side ones, the mounts that cause thumps on gear changes are mostly the transmission side ones.

If your throttle body is electronic I'd advise you just replace it. Especially if you're sure of all other options being ticked off.

repair the stripped tensioner soon to avoid getting broken bolts along your other serpentine belt driven components

Oga your vibrations can come from either one of the following 4 places in scale of most recurrent

1. Bad engine mounts

2. Bad IACV

3. Bad solenoid that directs vacuum to the associated engine mount that is designed to reduce vibration

4. Bad harmonic balancer timing in your engine sump

Check which it is and fix

The Honda k24 has 2 basic versions. The usual ones with 160-170HP (A1, A3, A4, A8) and the souped up ones like those used in acura TLX and Civic SI (A2, A6, Z series) with from 190 to 210HP.

The crosstour uses a high output version of the latter variants of k24 engines so it is definitely no slouch on the road.
