Car TalkRe: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 1:52pm On Sep 18, 2024
remi4ever:
Hello guys. My car runs fine, no check engine light.

But sometime I ago I noticed that the car vibrates during reverse so after cleaning the throttle body it runs well now, the issue was caused by the pipe in the image below spitting small dirty oil into the air flow box, so i had to remove it and cover it with a paper temporarily, is this safe?
Your vehicle will not heat up to operating temperature quickly with that hole plugged. If you use a thermostat and don't want to be wasting 1 - 2 litres of fuel every morning after a cold start you better open up the hole back and plug in that pipe.

On the other hand, the reason engine oil is getting tucked into your throttle body via that hole is possibly due to a clogged PCV valve. Either clean it or change it so the issue goes away.

I am not educating him. Na discuss we dey discuss.

Now, with freight and other import tax out of the way, Dangote is selling at 950.

The car is Honda Pilot 2009.

I will consider your suggestion.

The annoying part now is that I just observed that my transmission D is blinking. I checked and noticed that the transmission oil is low. I don't know where to source Honda ATF DW1.
Better contact luvinhubby here and pay him for just one liter of original DW-1 and use it to top off. Stop driving it till then.

No carry that gearbox play
Car TalkRe: I Am Considering Switching To Petrocam Engine Oil by Conner44: 10:59am On Sep 16, 2024
What car? What type of engine?

I once switched from mobil1 to Petrocam and after 3,000 kilometres my engine developed 'piston slap' and I had to drain it out and put in mobil 5w30 before my engine got itself again.

My engine uses 5w20 from factory but I now use 5w30 semi-synthetic. 3 years down the line and no issues. Just regular drain and refil at 4 - 5k kilometres.

i suggest you do the same

ATM, NNPC said they bought 898 from Dangote.
Dangote said it's a lie.....that tulumbu will announce price.

[s]I think this thread is now becoming a thread of hate and troll that can't handle a proper critics, once you disagree to any of their statement, trolling don start.[/s]

You're saying passengers won't be able to afford the service if price keeps going up, so drivers should be the one bearing it, this is someone collecting 40k as delivery and at some point, he will want to increase the delivery instead of reducing it since he knows there's dip in patronage and it is the norm now.

Anyway, I will see how drivers will keep up with car maintenance cost if price remains the same.
Nobody is trolling or hating you undecided they are only telling you the reality which you are adamantly refusing to accept for reasons best known to you.

The moment we have some clarity on what we would be paying truly for PMS, I'm sure ehailing companies and others will adjust their prices to the current reality.
If there's still no clarity on the wages workers will be receiving (minimum wage increase) at the same time then then I am afraid things will get worse.

It will bring a scenario where there would be more drivers (due to juicy fares) and less passengers (due to subpar salary increments)

They are the ones caking up right now. Those trip people think is not making sense is perfectly ok for them.
And they will be the only ones to keep caking until fuel prices go lower OR men are able to 'downgrade' their current vehicles to those with smaller engines.

Anything apart from the above is just a pipe dream in today's nigeria .

I really pity those who live outside lagos at this moment. If Fuel gets to N1,000 per liter here then it would surely be at least N1,500 in other states in the south and almost N1,800 in the north.

Bro, not like we don't want to convert, it's very expensive!
I understand the expense is much right now but let me make some few truths known to you tonight . . .

1. Ehailing will not end in nigeria, there will always be demand

2. Price of fuel will keep rising no matter how hard we pray

3. No matter how high the price of fuel gets per liter CNG's price (pound for pound) will never rise up to 30% of the price of fuel per liter

4. Conversion of engines from petrol to CNG is being regulated today both in installation and material standards by the federal government

5. As the price of fuel gets higher, my igbo brothers will later start importing their own conversion kits for sale in our open markets

6. Our 'kazeems' who feel adventurous will start offering their own conversion services soon

7. The combination of items 5 & 6 above will definitely lead to an increase in the risks associated with CNG use in our vehicles (engine deaths & explosions due to incompetency or substandard materials)

8. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GET CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE AT THE LAST 3 POINTS LISTED ABOVE

so you see brotherly. It is best to bite the bullet now and save up/cough out the 1 million to do a conversion and keep using your full sized luxury sedan for family and business than to shell out above 5 million naira later to buy a vehicle akin to the Toyota starlet or suzuki espresso that can't even carry a family of 5 comfortably all in the name of reduced fuel consumption (while keeping in mind that the CNG conversion will make using and maintaining your present 2.4L camry MORE cost effective than using any other smaller vehicle)

Bros, advantages yampian shocked

I guess you use bolt.
Bolt has lost a whole of riders. Imagine being on bolt for 20 mins and more and no request, even in a good area! Today no good at all!

Since the recent fuel increament, I buy 20/21k fuel and I make 55/60k, but today, with 20k fuel, I made 40k. It was Bolt's bonus that made 46k, after completing 7 trips. Fuel don finish already. Time to sit down and have a rethink
Are you serious with ehailing? Using a 2.4L engine? Then my brother CNG is your new best friend 🧡

Embrace it while it's still government regulated. Once this fuel issue worsens it will get out of hand

There is an appointed time for everything, a time to live and a time to die...lol... Besides, it's been ages i contributed my few cents on this platform, but oftentimes I try to go through the comments to see if it's still what it use to be, with the likes of king of meme BAZOO, the Volvo guy and many more, Felicity, Barbiturate and so on.

But I'm thinking of an idea. I don't believe e-hailing biz can be like in the past anymore, we all know the reasons, which ranges from exchange rate, currency devaluation, inflation, price of petrol and many more.

My idea is this, I love when people test the waters... this e-hailing association set up in time past, with the pioneer always on Naija info radio complaining about price fares at all times. How about those who are still active in this hustle, to form a group and approach the chairman of the presidential initiative on CNG, at their warehouse in ibafo Lagos state and have a discussion with him on how he could use his influence, either to give a discount on the cost or proffer a workable plan, that will favour the drivers. The e-hailing apps too are not excluded. I believe most of drivers discussion should be centered around this initiative.

Out of curiosity, have visited Mobil filling station at agidingbi to find out more about this CNG and hoping to visit the ibafo center as well in no distant time.

I'm impressed how a driver narrated how he bought N18,000 worth of CNG and drove from Lagos to Abuja (source AriseTV)

Please, let us start looking for ways to stay afloat in this dire times.

Thank you&God bless
Yes you're right, ehailing isn't what it used to be but the reason why such a thread as this was created was so that we can all brainstorm new ideas and carry each other along as well. No matter what the government does to frustrate drivers one thing is bound to remain certain and that is the fact that TRANSPORTATION IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A BASIC NECESSITY FOR EVERYBODY so why throw in the towel only to give the next man your slot to achieve what was destined to be yours 🤷

Example, on the telegram thread today I was lamenting about how much fuel I had to buy to travel from the east to lagos last week, I AM STILL REELING FROM IT'S EFFECT ON MY WALLET and I was letting them know that as regular transporters they should start thinking of this CNG initiative on time because the fuel price can only get higher from here on out. These are the kind of things we need to talk about now as it directly affects us here in pursuit of our daily bread.

It really hurt to know there is another place where such a discussion is ongoing that isn't 'right here', i mean, for heavens sake this thread is sorry, was GROUND ZERO cry

Anyhow sha, I wish all pilots well in tackling this new monster within our midst in the name of 'rising fuel prices' ⛽️
