Hello guys, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone here, I learnt so much from this thread. Here is my transcript for a successful interview today.

Me: New York, for a conference.

You did good and explained your case quite clearly. There are more and more screening ongoing at various POEs in the USA. My first tip is, for no reason should you change the duration of stay from what you originally filled in the form.

This so called 'village people' are all busy now travelling doing omugwo o, so no time to winchie anybody lol. Personally i feel there is more to the guys story. His Uncles wife is in another state and he landed in another without an onward ticket there. Same aunty that should be picking him up in New york.. His uncle giving him a Gf's number in lieu of the wife's number and he knowingly or unknowlingly provided false information to a cbp officer.

I graduated from Uniben too o, and we do every that year. Still i dey dread Atlanta sef talk more of Chicago, the Violence in the US is on a whole different level. A whole city as big as Chicago can't be all dangerous for sure, but i won't be visiting soon lol.

Can I contact the consulate officers and explain to them even though am not reapplying now. And how soon can I reapply. Am totally messed up. Was updating my profile along the way, till the sudden stop.

Some travelling tips for next time. Keep your trip to yourself, not that you fear 'winches' o. Any countrie's POE can spring up surprises, VISA does not guaranty entry. Take pictures on the way, but don't update until you are stamped in and settled. Then nothing can pa

I had a terrible experience in new York airport. I was refused entry. Reason been my relative address had changed from when I applied for the visa. I was supposed to stay for 13 days. The officer tried to contact the number and address on the form without success.

So sorry to hear about your experience. it is not a good one. You withdrew your application, so you have no ban. But the implication has a great effect on your credibility in getting another visa. Give it time and please no need re applying now.
Evaluating your case it seems you and your uncle messed up.
1- Where was the final destination?
2- Were you in possesion of a local airline ticket to take you to your final destination? And in this case it should be the city where your uncle and wife live in.
3-Your uncle, in my own opinion did not want you at his house. Hence the guise of not giving you the wife's number because she has a 'bad attitude'. The same woman with a bad attitude, tried to cover for you when she was called by saying she will get you a ticket.
4- Why did your uncle not provide his own number to you during this whole process? his number would have been more appropriate.
5-Now on a lighter note, go to Shoprite and buy alot of chocolate. Stay away from the office and return after your supposed 13 days in the states. This will save you some shame as you have bragged at work. and give you some sanity too.

Its pretty tough here now, and that route will not be viable at this moment. Too many raids and random screening.
Tell the 'Guy' to return home after his visit,and keep his travel history clean o.

You amuse me. So you didn't even figure out the answer to the question before booking another interview?
No one here will give you any Phone number to call. Lots of answers have been provided, now you do some soul searching and analysis to know your LIFE CHANGES.

Can down and read the reply again, it is easy to understand.
Ties means what will ensure you return back home, this can be Work, properties, family, financial might etc. Now evaluate what has changed after your first interview.

B1/B2, i think is generally granted from most embassies. On arrival at the border(POE), a CBP officer determines which based on the brief interview. Then a B1 or B2 will be wriiten on the inside of the passport and stamped with duration of stay granted.

Consular Officer go through these forums. And use these posts as training for their Visa Officers. They also use it to look out for visa applicants. Let us encourage honesty at all times, some posters are undercover agents. Better safe than sorry.

Good evening my nairaland people.. I was at the embassy today to cheer up a friend who had is interview this morning 9 am. Oh boy too manybpeople were denied in between the hours of 7 to 11am even mh friend was denied because did not have strong ties. The visa interview goes thus..

Your friend had the best opportunity at the interview to establish ties.Going by the stated questions asked, but he blew it. He should try again if he has the resources and explain more on his ties. School, work, the importance of the conference and wedding in April should count for something.

Apart from this wildly talked about incident do you have anyother like this online? not the Canadian one.... it is a violation of your digital privacy right for them to demand password to your account,Social Media... they can ask for the username not the account.
Because we are from Nigeria does not mean that we don't have right... You can ask for your right and attorney but they won't tell you that at POE.

At the POE The Fourth Amendment, which protects people from searches and seizures without probable cause of a crime being committed, doesn't apply in the same way at the border. Please clear your phone and other electronic devices of questionable materials, simple.

They can search through your phone if there's no password on it(Unlocked) but asking you for password of your email accounts,instagram,twitter etc You're free to ask for your right oooo and what to do.

At the border while seeking entry, you are not bound by same rights as someone already inside.They have the right to refuse entry if you do not provide password and any other information sought. You will not only write the password out, you will also explain things found.

1-Yes American citizens provide password when needed, read up on the NASA Engineer who was made to unlock a Government issued phone with sensitive information and data.

My Birthday Was yesterday and I also had my interview yesterday at lagos embassy... There's one Guy at window 3, he just dashing out visa .. Please tell me my mistakes so i can learn... for i apply again.. I think i have to wait for 2years

Sorry about the outcome of your visa interview, you do have a weak tie as your studies alone might not guarantee your return. I would suggest you finish your studies, start work and build your ties a bit more then re apply.

Also please no VO ever dashes out visa, they are trained to spot out deception, spot out genuine applicants etc. For what its worth the visa is paid for, so its not dashed either ways.
