okay thanks. what if I put it this way... I'm going on a vacation as a tourist but being sponsored by a friend over there( they have already paid for where I would stay in a Harding center). they are not into trafficking... they are also Jehovah's witnesses and wants me to visit them.. planned taking me to cedar point where Jehovah's witnesses had their first international convention in 1922, also take me on a visit to our newly built Head office in Warwick and amusement parks. they wanted to make my invitation a month but I told them as a result of My work schedule I can't stay that long because I have few other things to do before resuming back to work on 2nd of July.

You just gave your visit a purpose, Purpose sometimes augment ties, explain these points well and when asked about your job explain why you will be going away for 3 weeks and all. The truth is, in the past religious purpose always improve visa issuance chance, but these days it even makes it slimmer because of the way religion has been abused.
My only concern is why will an adult be sponsored on a trip that is of no benefit to the sponsor?

You have just made one of the biggest mistakes . These agents do not care about you, he is only interested in the fee he will get.
You better before the interview fill another form and swap it, even if visa is not issued always make sure your record is true. I repeat do not proceed with the interview, drop that agent and fill new form yourself with your true details.

I don't usually do this but I think you should be careful of who you use as point of contact in the US.
Do you know how the person migrated to the US?
Your being independent in the US gives you a better chance in my own opinion.
I think you shouldn't reapply in a hurry it will only show sign of desperation.

Well, perhaps, stating that I will be spending my leave in the US and at the same time attending a convention was a bad Call. But that was my honest intention.My intentions are genuine and the VO should have asked me to clarify things.

As for reapplying, well, i just wanna give it a second try since there is Still time to attend the convention otherwise I would hv just left it till whenever...

BUT PLZ I STILL NEED TO KNOW IF ITS A MUST I WAIT FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS BEFORE I CAN REAPPLY

There is no law like that cast in stone, its just the minimum time for some life changes to have occured which migh give your application more credibility, so many applicants never wait more than one two weeks, they reapply and most times they get their visa.

I would play it safe and not reapply so i will not look desperate.
The convention, has not been established by you to affect your career growth if you dont make it this year. Also your visit now is not event specific, like a family members wedding etc, so you can surely sightsee in the USA anytime in the future.

You alone know some key details and after weighing your options you may decide to re apply, a Vo who will listen more and get a clearer picture of your itinerary might be the one to interview you next. All the best

Yes there is no way you will be in Cali and not sighsee, but you started off with it being your annual leave, and you will be visiting cali( when you say visit here and on leave i will think its for touristic purpose), then you added "and i will be attending a convention". This is my opinion and its very possible there were other more serious pointers the Vo saw and believed you do not merit the visa now.
About reapplying so soon, well its your 54k, you have the final say. All the best

ME, I intend to spend my forthcoming leave in the US, and I will also be attending a convention...was about telling him the venue of the convention and the other places I plan to visit before he interupted me with the next question.

In my own opinion you had alot on your plate, visiting and convention. Would have been more appropriate if you had explained better on one purpose of visit. Also i would not use my annual leave to attend a convention, no matter the convention because i should be taking time off and relaxing.So if i happen to be a Vo, that will make me wonder if the convention added to the visit is just you puffing the purpose to make the USA visa needed.

This America sef! Na dulling place to get stuck in. The beauty is in visiting for a few weeks, once it has passed one month, body go de scratch you. I did 5mths when I went to have my baby. I was frustrated. Everybody will go to work. You will watch TV till ur eyes water. U will be so bored you will decide to go out.

Bus pass is like $10. If u buy food outside, expensive. If you window shop you will b tempted. The worst is when people know you are available and jobless. That is when they will be sending you on errands which you will be glad to go on because of the boredom. There was a day I sat at a train station just to watch people passing. The boredom Na die!

the way Naija will hungry u eh! Now imagine that you cannot come back home again. See punishment.

You are even lucky to have family or friends allow you stay 5 months o.
Most people, after max 2 weeks of staying home and racking up utility bills plus food, they want you gone ASAP. That is why alot get stranded here on arrival, especially if the supposed host suspect you want to turn "team stay" lol.

Cool beans. We have a Nigerian association here and they're pretty supportive. The lady was almost due when they came here and she was sleeping at the women shelter. The shelter won't take men so the husband was sleeping at the greyhound station. I'm sure having a baby in the shelter would be hell, so the president of the association took them in for a while till they were able to sort housing for them at least. They had to organize a shower for them cos the don't even have pin for the baby thinking things will magically be set right in America. Smh.

Glad the association stepped in to help. I am sure they would be advocates of "No magic in America", even those with legal status find it hard to feed.

I also have relatives going/gone through stay process like u said. The one I do not have is the one that did not plan his/own.

In summary, where I grew up, you plan to stay US once you enter or come back to face Naija struggle. Nothing must happen by accident. Nobody will even ask you for the class of visa u have. Wole jade or Ko duro

lol, i actually went to such parties back in the day, all we knew was he/she is relocating abroad. Just last week a friend told me of some guys experience at the POE, he threw a party after being granted B visa, and at the party a night before he travelled he took pictures and made videos on his phone. At the POE he was taken to secondary and upon going through his phone all videos and pictures from the "sendforth", text messages from friends and family wishing him well in his new abode were also found. Needless to say he still use the +234 prefix as we speak.

That clearly is intent and he got what he deserved.

I am sorry bro, but I have to tell you this. This your sister and her family's plan is DOE. This is the reason why a lot of people end up stuck in the system here with nothing to show for iot after years and years of living in the US.

Legal residency/citizenship or even Employment Authorization, they cannot get. Home (Nigeria) they cannot go back to because of shame and the automatic ban once they step out of the US. Some even have deportation orders pending for them. How in the world do you think they will emigrate to the US on a visiting visa and get their "stay" visa? On what basis? Fraudulent marriage to an American?

They both would have to divorce each other before they can even think about getting married to an American for papers. But remember, they came here as a couple. Married. Good luck convincing USCIS that the new marriage is not a sham paper one. Even if one is lucky, who will file for the other one? Abi they will remarry each other? I am confused. You better advise them before they make a mistake they would come to regret.

Lets also not forget that you are not breaking any law, if you had no intent at the time of applying for a visa to adjust status once in the country. If during your vacation,you happen to attend a job fair(get a job offer and they sponsor your work permit), School open day( you get admitted and they issue you I-20), meet a man or woman fall in love and marry. The bottom line here is "you will have to demonstrate to USCIS's satisfaction that you arrived without a "preconceived intent to ". It is true this privilege has been abused but still it is a law and permissable, so lets not be quick to judge people, so many had no intent of absconding when they applied for a visit visa. Plans change and the authorities are well aware of this as human nature. Hence this provisions are there to accomodate such change.

Basic question would be asked. Why did you come to the USA? How long you will be staying? How much you have with you etc. Just know the purspose and details about your trip and as you got your visa yourself, the information filled in the form. Do not think much of POE and panick, the visa interview is more tense so no worries. Have a safe trip

and you are not married , you your self look at that age bracket , that age is young , you can travel on b1/b2 visa , get there meet a lady
marry , change your status , apply for immigrant visa using DS-260 .. NOW that right there is their fear if you are within that age bracket
Now look at the same age bracket and now the person is married , automatically you cant go through the process i just mentioned , i[b]f they give the visa and you get there and say you divorce your wife and marry another woman over there, believe me 99.9 of those kind of cases usually get denied they dont even go through at the NVC.

I am now really married and wants to visit a friend in the U.S. Question is, will the false info be retained in their database for over 10 yrs now? As I am now older, wiser and married, and hopes to present my true position now. Will they dig up the 10yr old details?

When filling the form, there should be a question about if you have ever misrepresented, answer yes and explain in the column. Explain better when asked during the interview, do not try to continue lying it will be more detremental. All the best
