Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Most Nigerian Recruiters Don't Get Back to Interviewees by Contango(m): 5:14pm On Nov 09, 2021

Yet, when they receive the same treatment from candidates they start to breathe fire and brimstones, creating threads on Twitter and other social media platforms to hyperventilate and wail about it grin They don't like a dose of their own medicine at all.

Lol. Nigerians can be so unprofessional in their dealings and here’s an example. I was notified of success in a recruitment via mail and phone call by Dangote refinery years ago and that I should get ready to resume for medicals the following month. Waited for like 2months and didn’t get any communication from them so I reached out to the HR in charge via mail and phone call but no response from their end.

A year later, after I had already spent like 4 months into an offer elsewhere that paid around 5times Dangote’s offer(knew this because some of my colleagues worked there), someone from the HR (perhaps someone else) sent a mail to me to resume the following Monday. You could imagine the insolence from their end. Didn’t even bother replying them so they’d have a taste of their own medicine. After like 3missed calls and another mail reminder the Tuesday following the day I was told to visit their office in Lag, I conceded and sent them a mail telling them to literally shove their offer letter up their asses as they did a terrible thing by not updating me on the status earlier on and their poor communication and information management processes.

Was my action unprofessional? Yes. But it felt good and still does grin

As for defensive midfield, I said Messi drops momentarily to DMF. If you haven’t seen Messi drop that deep, then you clearly don’t watch Messi play hence it is not surprising that you dont know what you are talking about

Kingcalls:

Stop saying that crap...he is has been a striker/ winger for over a decade now

1. You are missing the basic point. Messi has played all the positions except goal keeping, central defence and side back.

2. Messi has played central forward, Second striker, left wing, right wing, attacking midfield, central midfield and at some point in games, defensive midfield. As Pep, one of the most respected and experienced coaches would say, Messi is number 9, 10, 11, 8, 7, 6 and 4.

3. Most attackers don’t maintain the position the play. That someone is a striker on paper does not mean they maintain that position. Messi as a striker is not the same as Cavani or Lewandoski as striker. Most times, Messi is a false 9 meaning he is a coded midfielder whose job is to draw center backs into the field to create pockets of space for wingers and some central midfielders to exploit. Only creative players do that. Aside Messi, Firmino and Van Persie, we’ve not really had much false 9s that were effective. Similarly, Ronaldo is a traditional false left winger who starts at the left wing but cuts in centrally. So he is basically number 11 and 9.

4. Ronaldo only plays two positions. Number 9 and number 11. You only see him japa to the right wing (7) if the defender on the left wing is too tough for him. Ronaldo is a very good finisher but not a creative playmaker. He wouldn’t even compete with Liverpool’s firmino or Coutinho in in playmaking to be honest. But he is the best striker the world have seen in my opinion.

5. Don’t let your love for Ronaldo blind you from the truth. If you want to have an honest unbiased opinion as to who is better between the two, listen to experts and people with experience in the game. Find out frm world class coaches and football captains their opinion on who is best and why and stop following what short sighted fans say. While I respect the opinion of football fans, I think it is prudent to pay more attention to the opinion of subject experts

This is how it will look like with no penalty;
messi not in the top20 for goals score in international football but ronaldo in top2.
messi no longer the highest goalscoring player in a calender year[91 goals]
messi would have gone 3 months without scoring a goal last season.
no group stage goal for messi in the champions league last season.
both messi and ronaldo would not have been golden boot winner this summer.
so you see my friend, penalties is beneficial to both players.

Fair enough. But the conclusion of the argument would be that Messi still eclipses Ronaldo in goal scoring and assist tally. Don’t forget that Messi is not a striker. He starts from the wing and shuffles around depending on need.

Ronaldo is always around the 18yard box waiting to score. It is expected that he ought to have more goals that someone who is more of a midfielder

typo error. but still it only takes 2 non penalty goals from ronaldo to shattered that arguement that is if messi continue to struggle in the farmers league

But Messi started playing 3 years later than Ronaldo. Imagine if he had started just one year later than Ronaldo, I am pretty sure his total non penalty goals would have exceeded Ronaldo’s total number of goals with penalties inclusive

and with fewer games

lol.

Now compared to Ronaldo, Messi has more non penalty goals, more non penalty free kicks, more assists, highest goals scored in a season, played fewer games, has more individual awards, more international awards, more club awards, more ballon d’ors, more World Cup achievements, more golden boots …yet according to some people, Ronaldo is better than Messi simply because he has more penalties and played in more clubs.

To be honest, the biggest mystery that would forever remain unsolved is how Ronaldo and his PR guys were able to convince atleast half of the soccerverse that he is remotely close to Messi cheesy

Aswear. More than half were penalties.

There should be a law that golden boot shouldn’t be awarded if penalty goals exceed 40% angry

This might look like a joke but you actually have a point.

Lets say two hypothetical players exist. One scores 10 penalties making him top scorer for a particular league, and the second player, the runner up has say 7 goals consisting of 4 out of the 18 yard shot goals, 2 free kicks and 1 in tap in. It would be grossly unfair to the runner up of the golden boot were given to the 10 penalties player just simply because he has more goals. I actually feel golden boot award should be reviewed to offer some level of down grade on penalty goals. They could say 3 penalties = 1 non penalty goal or thereabout.

[s]Ronaldo ahead of messi with just 1 non penalty goal[/s]. But the way pessi fans are raving about it one might think ronaldo had 500 more. Was it not the same penalty they were all commending messi for in the champion league last season when he scores 5goals in which all are penalties. When ronaldo scores its penaldo when messi scores its paneka penalty.

Actually, it is Messi that is ahead with 1 non penalty goal

Romance / Re: My Experience Dating A Lady From Zimbabwe by Contango(m): 11:27am On Oct 04, 2021
Martinelli35:
I am going to make this as brief as possible. I have noticed a trend with the reputation Nigerians seem to have with other Africans. I am currently dating a girl from Zimbabwe and we both are resident in England. The day I asked her out, she was initially a bit skeptical and told me her father had told her to avoid ending up with a Nigerian, I asked her why and she told me she had no idea.

We started dating and I began to get an idea of the reputation we had, obviously she was scared I had a wife and some kids back in Nigeria, I had to convince her that this was not the case and that I genuinely liked her.

Another time she told her friend from Zambia that she was dating a Nigerian and was told to be careful while dealing with me as a Nigerian.
It’s not all bad though, obviously we also have a reputation of being smooth talkers, she told me that we Nigerians have a way with words and that can make us irresistible at times. Who else has experienced this?

Had a similar experience too. Was on a 3rd date with a Jamaican-Brit back in Manchester when she asked for my nationality. When I told her Nigerian, her countenance said it all cheesy

She said it was hard to believe I was Nigerian cause I seemed different from what she had heard about Nigerians.

Same shock greeted me when my flatmate learned I was Nigerian. She said if she had known earlier that I was Nigerian, she wouldn’t have taken the flat in the first place grin

Guys, our brothers don spoil our market all over the world o.

You seem to find it hard to comprehend write ups. Now listen, no matter how u want to pretend to twist it, a man that wrote a final year exam and passed in one sitting is Ronaldo. He got to the finals and won it. And a man that wrote several final year exams before he could pass is Messi. He got to several finals but couldn't win.

If Euros finals is analogous to final year exams, what then is World Cup?

I give up bro. Ronaldo is the GOAT of Goats! grin
