This will make them want to subscribe to the information you deliver so that they have first-hand information when you publish them.

I was asked a question and it was my answer that prompted me to write this article for the benefit of those who want to take advantage of online advertising or who have made mistakes, one way or the other.

Now let’s start by asking, “What is online advertising?”

In layman terms, online advertising is a means by which an individual or business places information, on the internet, about the things they do or services they offer in order for more exposure or to generate leads, which in turn translates to income.

Another question is, “What are the methods of online advertising?”

People can either use the free means of advertising or use the paid means.

Let us then differentiate the 2 and explain what both require.

Free Online advertising

This requires work and sacrifice which pays off on the long run and it is important to note that if you don’t do well in free online advertising, there is a high probability you will waste your money on paid ads.

Let me explain: Showcasing your services for free requires you using free means such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google Plus etc. by posting information about what you do and how it benefits people. In doing so, since it’s free, you will put all effort to win the approval of people based on your services because you know that it’s a handful of people you can reach. Therefore if you can do well in free ads, then, when you use paid ads you will most likely thrive.

Now, in using free ads you need to ensure the following:

Engage people
You can do this by offering information not readily available and will benefit people. The best way you can take advantage of this is by linking the information to the services you render. This will make people trust you because you are giving something they can use which will not cost them. While you offer more and more information, you can chip in your services and the benefits, and you will most likely be able to make them customers.

If all these procedures can be followed, you will be able to save a considerable amount of internet data while using your mobile phone.

You can also monitor data usage as well as know which app consumes the most data under the Data Usage section of your device.

This will save considerable amount of data because some pictures can be as high as 8mb.

You can use a note app which does not require the internet to compose your article. After which you can copy and paste it in the website. Thereby saving time and data spent on the website.

I’m certain, like me, you have wondered how your internet data gets exhausted before the expiration date of your subscription, especially with an android, apple or java phone. Hence the question:

How come my internet data on my mobile phone finishes so fast?

This question prompted my thinking of the things that consume internet data and the ways to save internet data on mobile devices.

In order to answer this question we need to know the causes of internet data consumption. They are as follows:

Browsing the Internet or Mobile App:

Website browsing, especially sites with videos, graphics, pictures etc. tend to consume data on a faster rate than normal site with low volume of videos, graphics, pictures. This is because when you watch a video via the internet, depending on the size and length of the video, data is transferred and taken from the available data in your subscription. Hence, sometimes, when you want to watch a video you are prompted that you may be charged by your telecommunication company. This usually is charged on your data.

Likewise graphics and pictures. The size of the graphics or pictures you view with your mobile phone on the internet determine how much data will be consumed.

Also the longer you are on the net, whether active or not, data consumes. What I mean about active or not is when you are physically browsing and when your phone is on standby but with a website page(s) open in the background.

Solution:

Reduce the amount of videos, graphics and pictures you view on the internet with your mobile phone. Sites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc. are certain to consume more of your internet data, so reduce time on such sites.

Close pages when you are done browsing so that, even when your phone is on standby, data is not consumed because of graphics. For instance, when leave your phone with a facebook or twitter page or app open, continuous updates of feeds and tweets are still going on, even though you are not using your phone, so data is transferred.

Lastly, when you are not available to use your phone, you can switch off your internet data. For instance, when you are sleeping, working, in a meeting, driving etc. This can help to save data.

Updates:

App and mobile phone updates consume data, which depends on the size of the updates. Android phones are known for updates of different applications and if not careful the updates can start automatically, consuming a lot of data.

Solution:
If your internet data is limited you can switch off automatic updates and wait till you can connect your phone to a wifi for the updates.

Uploading of content or images via the internet:

There may be times you need to compose a long article probably on a webpage, which requires your phone being connected to the internet. The time spent while composing consumes data.

Also uploading images on websites or apps consume data based on the size of the image.

Solution:

Our guess why the cost of bbm ads is high is because they do not want to flood the feeds with ads, since there are limited spaces.

If they can segment bbm users into more categories, like locality, male, female, students, workers etc. then they will be able to get more people to advertise based on their targets instead of basically by country

6) You can add your business to various directories and register your business on google, in order to expose your business information more.

7) The use of the internet reduces the cost of communication especially when the parties involved are in different states or countries.

You can transfer transaction files, forms and documents via the internet to ease and fasten the process of business transactions.

9) Networking is a very important aspect of succeeding in business and the internet makes it very easy and aids people in connecting with each other through social media platforms.

10) You can find relevant, educative and innovative information, as well as, resources at ease via the internet to remain up to date and even ahead of your contemporaries.

Now you have known the benefits of the internet to your business, but how do we use it effectively?

To answer this question, we need to try to put ourselves in the shoes of customers, in order to know what they expect when surfing the internet for products and services.

* They want comprehensive and credible information about your product and services.
* They want you to be able to prove you have a level of control over the product and services
* They want to have an idea of the visual appearance (pictures) of your products.
* They want to know the specifications of your products.
* They want to know the benefits of your products and services.
* They want to be guaranteed that they can be compensated in case of a fault.

If you can fulfil the above, you will gain their trust and even though they may not need your services when they come across your information or your product does not meet their requirements, you should be rest assured that they will want to contact you when they need such services or refer you to someone who needs it. Also, they can go to the extent of asking you for a similar product, not in your portfolio, because they are confident of your services.
