zeezahbee: F1 student or not, you break an agreement then it's a bad one
In Texas, if you break a lease, you will be made to pay for the remaining months and sometimes forfeit your deposit. The money is so much that you wont have any choice than to stay back or sublet the apartment.
If you move out of the house without notifying the leasing agent, it will go on your record and it will be so hard to get anOther apartment.
I don't know how it works in other states but I know breaking a lease is a huge game. My advice is sign. 3 mth or 6mths lease and you can move later in peace. This one is even an oncampus hosuing for the college and it spans for one year. If i run, they wont see my break light again, they might even report me to the school, before they do, i would transfer I dont even think i can sublet the apartment, cos they always do constant checkups on the students living the oncampus apartments. |

DARKLIGHT:
Boss, after the rent you have paid for expires, scout around. Make some friends. Tell them your predicament, you might be lucky to find a good person that will help to find a cheaper rent for you. One thing I have learned here in US is that if you don't ask questions, you get stuck and no help will be rendered. Thanks boss, classea are yet to start, sure i'll do that. |

DARKLIGHT: Boss, according to a lease agreement, if you break loose from it without given the landlord prior information you might lose your security deposit. Security deposit means the amount the landlord uses to pacify himself in case the tenant decides to violate the lease agreement. I'm even planning to break loose from my lease agreement because I saw a cheaper rent somewhere. I don't mind if I lose the security deposit. But you got to be careful because this lease is binding by law, so you won't be sued when you violate the lease agreement. Study your landlord. Alright boss thank you so much, ita just like an oncampus housing, those people (old women) seem really strict, but i dont really care, cos i have no record or SSN and they have no access to my SEVIS records hopefully, i dont mind losing the deposit too, after paying 850 permonth, after a month i would move away from there, the money for rent is just way too much for 2people, can you kindly tell me how to persuade people to live together with you, so we could share the bill of a 2bd apartment, or 3? i be complete novice. |

U will jst waste time and money here as the $3,500 every semester for ESL woulda done a whole better if u had written the standardised test..shalom P:S: anyone interested in studying here should holla at me Yep thats the truth, you will even be required to take a test, degree level or college level placement test, to determine where you will fall. |

thesoj: @akagson Your chances of staying in the US exponentially increase if you study any course that is physical sciences or engineering related. This is because there is a higher demand than supply for such jobs, therefore it is wayyyy easier for the employer to convince the US government to issue you a work visa. Nothing is ever guaranteed though, so I like your strategy of contingency plans.
@coobboy visa is two years but that's not what matters. What matters is the expiry date on your I-20. You can legally stay in the US on an expired student visa if your I-20 is still valid. In the same vein, you are illegal if your I-20 stops being valid even if your visa is still valid.
FYI, I did my undergrad and post-grad in the US. Okay, i knew that. I just corrected him, thats all. |
