This is just wrong. Having an aunt in the place where you go to school does not mean that you have immigrant intent. In fact, it gives at least one reason why you are going to school somewhere. Living with relatives who are already in the US will make your education much more affordable...

I don blow VO quote me, well having a relative makes life easier, and cuts out accomodation cost, but im talking about his aunt sponsoring him from the US.
We've had people here, who were denied cos someone from the US is sponsoring them for their education.

I don't like those "How was your night" and "Happy new month" issh too... I didn't do it during my interview besides the guy was ridiculously young and I felt he should be the one greeting me with sir ( I dey joke ooo).

Sometimes giving VO's the aura that you don't even care about their damn visa (without being proud though) it helps eliminate immigrant intent.

I had my visa interview on Monday August 03 at the Lagos Consulate.
After a very restless night, I got to the consulate at Walter Carrington at about 5:20am. My appointment was for 6:30am. I got into the Hall of Judgment by 7:30am. At this point, am so confidence about my interview question.

I was called to Window 12 around 8:00am. The VO was some middle-aged, white woman and the following conversation ensued:
Me: Good morning , happy New Month ma.
VO: Good morning. Place your left four fingers on the scanner.
Me: After the finger print.
VO: Where are u going too?
Me: Harold Washington College in Chicago.
VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: My Aunt. She’s a clinical pharmacy at university of Chicago, medical center.
VO: which course do u want to study?
Me: I said Electrical Engineering.
VO: do u write any exam?
Me: Yes, I wrote SAT and TOEFL.
VO: What is your SAT score?
Me: I said 1210
VO: Why Harold Washington College?
Me: I was referred by Admission advisor at Illinois Institute of Technology(where I applied as a transfer student) I should complete my prerequisite course work at community college before transferring to Illinois Institute of Technology.
VO: Since you are already studying Electrical Engineering at Yaba Tech, why are you going to study in the US without finishing your program here?
Me: My program at Yaba Tech is a National Diploma and I wish to obtain my Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering in US.

She type for a while and she said I was not eligible for visa. I ask her that why, she said nothing. That I should reapply. I ask her again, what should bring when coming bck, she said I should go through the blue paper she gave me. I said thank you bye. I want to deferred my admission to spring 2016 (resume Jan 11) and planning to reapply for interview in october

She asked who is sponsoring you, she did not ask what does your aunty does. When they dont ask you a specifi question, dont just jump to it, read more undergrafuate transcripts, see how questions are answered.

Why not apply to a university straight, rather than a university, referring you to a college. Fix this

Your aunt being your sponsor, in the same state as you are gonna be schooling, shows immigrant intent man.
If you used a sponsor here in nigeria, and your aunt lives in illinois, there would be no problem.

Since you are an undergraduate, you shouldnt have even mentioned being in a school, or you could have said you have graduated from yabatech whatsoever, i was in my last semester in yabatech, yet i said ive graduated from yabatech. I printed some of my results online to show proof... Even if i was asked where my final result was, i could have said, it was not put out online already.... Mentioning that you are in a school in naija already raised something up, and you couldnt even defend it well, by saying the school is inline with the latest technology etc and give some technical examples of what yabatech has and what the school has. Give cogent reasons why u chose your intended school over yabatech.

1. Choose a university and not some uni that would tell you to go to a college first before transferring (i can give you list of schools to start applying to. That would release ur sevis records straight if u wanna transfer)
2. I could have adviced you to change your sponsor, but keep on, cos it is always adviced you use a sponsor from nigeria or outside nigeria
3. Give cogent reasons why you chose your intended school over yabatech, learn to give technical reasons that would burst the VOs brain (read why your intended school is better than yabatech's engineering) you can always transfer to the illinois tech, nobody would hld you back
4. Dont just jump into questions you are not asked.
Also wetin concern VO with new month, you were there for business, and business only.... The VO is not your friend. Somepeople like me, dont like all these happy new month ish. No offence tho me just wan advice

Measles 1, Measles 2, Rubella (MMR): Vaccination (2 doses after 1st birthday) OR Titer (lab work) Date and Result.

Hepatitis B-1: Vaccination OR Check the declination box OR Titer (lab work) Date and Result.

Meningitis: Menactra/MCV4 vaccination at AGE 16 OR OLDER (if living on campus) OR check the declination (if not living on campus).

TB Screening: Tuberculosis Screening required for all students residing at an address outside the U.S. at the time of application.

If you are in lagos, go to luth, idiaraba, unilag teaching hospital, that was where i go my bacteria meningitis shot from, once you enter luth front gate, you'll see a yellow building, go to the second floor, and tell them about all the shots you wanna recieve.. Then they'll bill you. Go there as early as 10am, so they can get the required vaccine for you, as early as possible, even if they dont have it there.

Feels good to check back on this forum that God used to grant me my visa. Special thanks to all the guru's in the house with advice and courage to go face the VO back then.
I have been anxious to check on the guys granted visa and those delayed(delay is not denial) but school work no gimmie chance. Well, i have had my own BitterSweet experience within the 2 month i got here but if there's one thing i can assure guys coming here, SERVE GOD DILIGENTLY and BE SMART. I came here with absolutely $200 usd but now, am living averagely good with the help of GOD and the redeemed christian family. It pays to serve God.

P.S My sis just got granted this morning at the Lagos Embassy, i hope she comes to share her transcript soon, i can't speak for her right now. I only got a message from her this morning. It is adviced that you write standardized test, cos it would give you chances for scholarships, also an edge in the embassy.

Those schools i listed are for undergraduate admission though

remove Southwest minnesota state university from your list cause they require English tests (TOEFL and IELTS)..And they also require SAT too.

I got admitted to SMSU without toefl and SAT, also they considered me english proficient, with instate tuition of 7k per year.

Also u should have collected an international drivers license for 5k or 7500 in nigeria, so that would make it easy for you to drive here, because if you wanna collect their licence here, you will have to start from scratch and it would be way too expensive to go for Driving lessons. But if you have your nigerian drivers licence i think u can use it to drive too somehow..

In Nigeria you think your accent is all right, but here, it becomes all wrong (come again everytime or "huh? " ) .. Oh well i'll keep on confusing them.

They dont really follow, whats written on the flight iterinary, it might change, i pray it dosent change when it applies to you tho, because in nigeria, they'll add like 30minutes, at dubai, very big plane to the US, ull wait for everybody to board the plane, before even thinking of moving. So i dunno sha, just pray u dont miss ur flight

Dem no even search at all for dubai sef, dem no search our carry on with their hands, na just machine dem use Search, our plane had a delay for 30minutes on air so wahala no dey, no delay at all, na to just go straight to ur plane, but 2hours lay over thats not much o, cos before ur baggage gets to you ehn, from the baggage claim place it might take loooong... Just like mine did, people that came from nigeria dodnt get their baggages from the plane till 1hr later

Safe landing for my sister and i, we thank God. Dallas port of entry wasnt even strict at all, wasnt asked anything at all, just my I-20 four fingers and face.

So far so goo, emirates flight is the best ive boarded in my life, better food, free WiFi, new movies, you will never get board, first class people dey enjoy sha, one day i go fly first class, see comfort... . No POE at dubai tho, just a terminal to go through, walspring na dallas i dey go straight oh, na there be my POE.
