I completely agree that Young did his best this season and believe me i concede he has real heart to come back from the abyss.

And earlier this season i said for United to really be free and move forward then we need to sell Rooney and RVP.......those 2 are the ones really holding us back. Sell those 2 and get proper, quick and potent forwards and wingers and real midfielders.

Rooney is not good enough to be our 1st choice no9 or 10 or 8.
RVP is about to be a finished product

age has caught up with RVP. there's a rumour he's going back to holland. rooney should be relegated to a squad player. he can never be the same excellent striker he was 10 years ago. we need top tier strikers that are in the same level as aguero, suarez, etc

Even as a right back heis still clueless most times he is overlapping. if we had Rafael or G.Neville in those sweet positions Valencia found himself we would have created more from the right.
He has a few things going for him....he is fast, stays fit n uninjured and appears tactically disciplined.

he's the biggest fraudster in the squad if you factor his wages. di maria is the greatest fraudster in the squad of you factor the hype that came with his signing.

rooney is a level-1 forward.....lets just agree on that. we need a better forward in our squad. the earlier we sort that out, the better for us. when he played as a CM, the excuse was that he was too far from the opponent's goal. he was played as a lone striker for many games and he had nothing to show for it.

You dont know what you are saying. Zonal marking clearly explained that Young went to camp with Aggonlanhor on the left thereby forming a triangle on the left with Agbonlahor and their left back.

Same way Silva formed a triangle with Nasri..... More so, Silva is the natural 10.

If whoscored says a player played in the Attacking Midfield Centre in a match, it means that player started from that position. Even if he were to be moved to another position later due to substitutions or changed in tactics. Nobody can tell me anything about whoscored. I have read it long and well enough. I opened it down then see how scores are changing every minute and after every incidence.

Ashley Young was Villa's Attacking Midfielder in 2010/2011 in all their formations. This was his major position that season.

He was their only player out of 23 tagged with AM(C) in 2009/2010.

The above are the only two seasons we can get from records. The so called productivity from the wings is a scam!

They get their formation from opta, them after 1-5 minutes of game, they either leave it or adjust it according to what they see on the pitch. Even if there are changes 10 minutes later, it wont reflect in their formation. I have studied them for a long time. I opened whoscored during matches and I see how every player marks and stats change as games are played. Whoscored get their formations right over 90% of the time.

Here Phil Jones was substituted after 4 minutes, Blind too after 38 minutes. Herrera came on and Rooney moved to DM. Smalling went to defence but whoscored did not reflect these changes. Till thy kingdom come, the starting players are left in their positions.

Aston Villa most used formation 27 times was 4-5-1. Ashley Young was put behind the striker bent as the player who had the best performances in that position.

In their 4-4-1-1 formation, Young was in number 10 behind Agbonlahor who was the striker.

4-2-3-1 Young put behind Carew in number 10 and 9 respectively.

Only in 4-1-4-1 Young was in the wing as the best winger. May be this is why he finds this 4-1-4-1 easy.

young doesn't have to be substituted to play another role. he can fill in for a player that got substituted. if agbonlahor gets substituted late in the game, young can fill his space while the sub that came on would go to young's former position.

8 goals/16 assists for a club like villa as a winger is an excellent number no matter how you colour it. we have a fat charlatan in our number 10 earning £300k/week, he has never notched such assist number in his 12-year career as a professional footballer.
