Barca and Atletico played more games between December 1 and January 31 2015 than any EPL side apart from Chelsea in the same winter period.
The reason Madrid played less was because they had to travel for CWC competition

Rescheduling on Friday nights isn't exclusive only to epl. Don't make it look like it's special. when they played those games, who told them not to rotate players? Who told them not to buy one or two during the Jan transfers? Who told them not to believe in their youth players?

buying more players? you haven't heard of FFP? rescheduling games on friday is a way of helping european teams to be fresher for european games. they play friday night & they don't play until tuesday night for UCL....that's a break of 4 days.

EPL teams will play till saturday night & then jet straight out to europe for a tuesday might game, matches don't get moved here in england. you have to deal with what fate has handed to you. how can you not see the difference the extra day would make?

what about the fatigue they have carried before the knock out stages of the UCL? EPL teams were playing back to back games when messi & suarez were in south america refreshing their batteries.

fatigue is actually one of the reasons EPL teams suffer in the KO stage of the UCL. no rest at all till february & by the time they meet other european teams, they are too knackered to compete. every top EPL manager has asked for winter break. if they do not think it would benefit their teams, they wouldn't ask for one.
