seunmsg: You are just a presidential candidate and not a real contender. The contest in 2023 was between Tinubu and Atiku and the contest in 2027 will still be between Tinubu and Atiku. If you want a presidential debate so badly, go and debate Sowore of AAC and Gbenga Olawepo of Accord party candidate. Those are the presidential candidates in your cycle of presidential wannabes. I am not a fan of Peter Obi, but I must say that your comment made no sense at all. No rational person would say that a candidate who pulled over six million votes in a presidential contest where the eventual winner scored less than nine million votes wasn't a contender. |

Undisputed01: Tinubu deserves second term. He is really doing well in terms of infrastructure. Infrastructure my foot. I actually thought that Tinubu was smart until he removed subsidy only to dole out the funds to State Governors, as though he was a total stranger. I hoped that he, knowing that fuel and transport are closely intertwined, will roll out CNG or electrically powered FG-run mass transit schemes in all States of the Federation; fix power supply and security... He has just blown the chance of becoming Nigeria's greatest president out of power drunkenness and uncontrollable knack for corruption. He is more concerned with making sure every Governor and human being in Nigeria belongs to APC. What nonsense! |

Some people feel it's their share of the national cake. Till resource control at regional level is implemented, this might likely continue. Bunkering still lucratively going on, despite trillions being spent on pipeline security. What a country! |

[quote author=lionshare post=139727099]To look at it objectively, genuine democratic politics happens when voters are free from manipulation and can vote according to their conscience. Relying on split or block voting patterns doesn't define good politics, and it's a misconception to think otherwise.
True governance and its benefits should never be conditional on which region, state, or community provided the most votes for a leader. We rarely see this kind of transactional logic in advanced democracies.
This kind of narrow mindset only holds our country back. It’s especially disappointing to see this outlook from a young person, from whom we should expect more forward-thinking views. |

lionshare: What’s hard to understand about his point of view? If a country can run three election cycles without your input, your political influence is nearly gone — so how will you protect your region’s interests? It's hard because it is a defeatist and baseless point of view. Why would any right thinking person look at the cumulative votes of people from a particular region and describe it as 'insignificant'? Do those votes not form part of the votes of either the winner or losers of the election? Una reasoning sha! In case you don't know, I know Ben Nwankwo very well. He could be susceptible to such petty reasoning. It's such a shame! Did the winners of the last three election cycles you talked about win in all the regions of the country? chopnaira: Their votes are insignificant, but they never learn how to play politics in Nigeria. It is the most unsmart thing for someone of his calibre to say. Erstwhile Commissioner, and three term- former federal legislator and now Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo. Is he saying that the votes from the Southeast aren't counted as part of the INEC figures during National Elections? Oftentimes, I wonder how these men earn PhDs. How does the fact that a region's cumulative smaller votes translate to its insignificance upon considering the overall election figures by the Electoral Commission. |

O ya, go there and go and do it differently, you can't even win the senate ticket of an inconsequential party like NDC. So, where is the competency you have always talked about. If you are not competent enough to win your party primary, and then can you fix the numerous and complex problems facing the country? There is nothing fantastic Wike and most Nigerian politicians. How does a Southerner contesting increase Tinubu's chances when he has been alienated by the North? I really can't figure out how some of you rationalize things. It is Atiku's chance that is being increased as the North more likely to choose to produce a President (Atiku) than a Vice President (Kwankwaso). |

In his days when a Nigerian shout life is hard_ it was about money to do projects like buy car, build house etc. Not ability to afford ordinary food and commodities for personal care or hygiene. Dude wanted a perfect president: We got Buhari and Tinubu the perfect guys! I get where you're coming from, and it's a shame that things are the way they are today. But that isn't really the main point I was making. I was trying to highlight how Jonathan contributed to the rising trend of empowering thugs and social misfits, at the expense of law-abiding and hardworking citizens. |
Politics › Re: Thugs Now Fly First Class In Nigeria, Says Jonathan by CoolAmbience(m): 10:38am On May 21 |
LagosOrigin: You caused it , you shouldn't have allowed APC anywhere close to the corridors of power, now see how bad they've destroyed our country .
Tinubu have destroyed everything that our founding fathers laboured to build. The economy is in shambles, terrorism and banditry is now the order of the day and the useless president isn't doing nothing about it till president trump stepped in .
But I believe that Nigerians will get it right in by kicking this APC government of terrorism and economic hardship out in 2027. While the debate over the rise of the APC is best left for another time, one cannot overlook Goodluck Jonathan's legacy in the Niger Delta. As Vice President leading the Presidential Amnesty Program, his administration effectively enriched local thugs. By granting billions of dollars in pipeline security contracts to individuals under the guise of militancy, he established a system that handsomely rewarded criminal behaviour. Jonathan's revisionist history on this matter is deeply frustrating. |
