The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, is one of the most prestigious military training institutions in the world. It is the British Army's initial officer training academy and it also trains officers from other Commonwealth countries.

Several famous Nigerian officers have attended the academy, including General Yakubu Gowon, Major General Hassan Usman Katsina, Major General Illya Bisalla and Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu. The alumni of the college include several members of the British Royal Family (including the Princes William and Harry), members of several Arab royal families (including Kings Talal, Hussein and Abdallah of Jordan) and heads of state of several African and Asian countries (including Generals Akuffo and Afrifa of Ghana). The Sultan of Brunei is also an alumnus of Sandhurst.

Video of Nigerian head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, visiting his alma mater, the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in 1973. He took pictures with Nigerian cadets that were studying at Sandhurst and reviewed the parade.

I think that the late Brig. Zakariya Maimalari deserves a mention whenever a list of alumni of the prestigious Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, is made, being arguably the first Nigerian to attend and successfully pass out from the institution, alongside his friends, Umar Lawan. The quartet, including the late King Hassan of Morocco and one Charles Buah from Ghana, were the first Africans to attend and successfully pass out from the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, England.

It is heartwarming to see the kind of accolade the young lady is receiving for her commendable feat. Interestingly, this was the same institution Buhari attended yet many called him 'uneducated', despite having attended NMTC prior to Sandhurst.

Peter Obi is the only one with INTEGRITY. The rest are thieves and druglords.
Peter Obi has a business and a job, .any others are FULLTIME POLOOTICIANS.

Obi does not have any futuristic ideas about governance beyond what his 17th century borehole typifies. His idea of governance doesn't go beyond building basic roads, paying teachers salaries, maintaining general hospitals etc. He does not have visionary ideas. That's why if you look at Anambra you cannot point to anything he initiated and consolidated by his predecessors. Just an average gov

Obi was relatively unknown in 2019 , why didn’t Atiku win that time? Labour Party was unknown then. Why didn’t Atiku win? Stop blaming Obi for Atiku’s failure.Obi had the right to contest that election, just like any other Nigerian who meet the constitutional requirements to become president.

Believe it or not, Obi messed things up for Atiku. Any good student of Nigerian politics will easily concede that. What Peter Obi / Labour Party got as votes were traditional PDP votes. A clear example is the votes from the Southeast.

The person you quoted wasn't talking of right or lack of it, to contest.

Atiku, obviously, stood a better chance in 2023 than in 2019. In 2019, Atiku was up against both an incumbent president and the ruling party. The scenario was slightly different in 2023.

Celebrities / Re: Jnr Pope: AGN Suspends All Movies In Riverine Areas, Boat, Bans Adanma Luke by CoolAmbience(m): 9:19am On Apr 11
As sad as this situation is, we must acknowledge that, not even the most preliminary of safety measures were employed in executing the boat trip(s). Not even life jackets were provided and enforced. This calls for alot of questions for the Jetty Management, Marine Security, Anambra State Ministry of Transportation, and by extension, the Anambra State Government. We must wake up to responsibilities. There has to be standards and strict regulations set, and dutifully enforced.

We can't continue to allow these kinds of negligence to occur. I worked in the coastal area of Bonny Island for many years, where the water body is way massive. I recall Navy operatives inspecting each boat taking off and berthing, to ensure that passengers had their life jackets on, and also that the boats were not overloaded. This is not to say the boat mishaps do not occur in Bonny Island, and other coastal areas, but the situation has greatly improved. We are all aware that accidents of this nature are bound to happen, irrespective of measures. However, seeing this situation where hard working, young people are being, carelessly, conveyed across such river without life jackets is saddening. It doesn't make us come off as a people that attach any form of value to human life.

It reminds me of Wigwe's death. The negligence of not cancelling the flight despite the glaring terrible weather, caused avoidable deaths.

Politics / Re: Borehole Controversy: I Am Disappointed In Obi - Tonto Dikeh by CoolAmbience(m): 8:39am On Apr 11
[quote author=9jatriot post=129369512]In fairness to Obi, I am not sure but I do not think Obi called or can call this his project a borehole project. At best we can say he donated a 1,200 litre tank to them.

Look at that tank very well, it does not have an inlet pipe that can suggest that there is a borehole nearby, so I want to believe it is a tank that a water tanker will have to supply water to.

The one he donated in Sokoto is a lot better. The real reason people are not overlooking this is because his mob tries to present him as a saint and he himself is always quick to criticize even when he does not have all the facts. People are just paying him back with his own coins especially as he played into their hands by himself.

Anyway, his gesture even though we all know it is for politics is appreciated. Any gift no matter how small must be appreciated, but someone like Obi should not be anywhere close to power. People like him slow down.)

I am from Anambra State.
And I am very impressed by what you said.
My problem with Obi has always been around his penchant for needless criticisms, poor quality projects and insincerity.

A good number of roads constructed under his administration are now overdue for reconstruction, in just less than 15 years. I am not talking about rehabilitation. He is not known to have the capacity to assemble a strong team of individuals with the drive for excellence and qualitative results. This attribute put him apart from Tinubu. You are as good as your close team. Your team is you.

Where are the Obi ambassadors, I am talking about those that served under him, in Anambra. Where are they in national reckoning and politics? What are their accomplishments? We know Tinubu's team of Lai Mohammed, Tunde Fashola, Yemi Osinbajo and many others.

As for the borehole project he donated, I think it is commendable, albeit lack lustre, for an individual his stature.

clarocuzioo:
Each time I drive past the third mainland bridge, am marveled at quality of works done by Engr. Dave Umahi an Igboman.

Fashola was super minister of works, did a lot of maintenance on that bride for years but never did the quality of job done by Engr. Dave Umahi within just 6 months.

The irony now is that anyday Dave Umahi decides to contest for President in this country, they will remind him that he is an Igboman and as such is not permitted to rule Nigeria.

The tribal colouration you introduced trivialized everything that you said.

First, no one has said that we Igbos can't produce the next president. That's a satanic lie! You need to win election to rule Nigeria. Which Igbo man won election and was denied?

Any right thinking Igbo man should know that the current state of political relationships among the Igbos, Hausas and Yorubas, is not sufficient to deliver an Igbo presidency.

Dave Umahi, Chris Ngige, Ogbonnaya Onu etc, understand this perfectly. Peter Obi does not. Though I am Igbo, I was born and raised in the North. I can tell you this for free.

Also, Dave is doing great but has not done anything significantly comparable to what Fashola did. Dave may outdo Fashola tomorrow, but he is not anywhere close yet.

Fash delivered the Second Niger Bridge after decades of back and forth. What about the Bonny-Bodo Road project and bridges. Fash significantly progressed works on the Enugu-Awka-Onitsha, Port Harcourt-Okigwe-Umuahia-Enugu Highways and several other highways across the country. Travel times have been substantially reduced on these highways.

Abeg, e never reach where we go compare Baba Fash with Dave. There is no basis at all.

Did he not pay for the service he desired? Air Peace has been misbehaving and acting unprofessionally for sometime now. How can someone pay for Business Class and you unilaterally move them to Economy Class without a single explanation?

Only incest is biblically acceptable for a divorce.

The problem here is hypocrisy. People want to be here and there. People want to eat their cake and have it.

If you want to divorce your spouse when he or she offends you, avoid church wedding. Do your traditional marriage or any other form of marriage. The issue is that people want church wedding but don't want the cross that comes with church wedding. Church wedding vow says, "... until death do us part".

Choose a tradition you can maintain. Don't deceive yourself with church wedding when you are not willing to abide by its principles.

Whether Church, Mosque, Shrine or Traditional wedding, once couples can no longer 'see eye to eye', everyone should find their way.

No need for all these long talks and sermons. It is all these unnecessary long talks that have led many their their early graves.
