What I found ludicrous about people's argument on the past govt is that people just want to believe those in govt then didnt do anything with intention to improve people's lot. Every information is disputed and regarded as lies. Even when that govt was trying to pass an important information, such information is disregarded with a wave of hand. We were told there was never a subsidy; subsidy was a scam and Prof Tam David West came and even told us how it is possible to sell pms for N40 per litre without subsidy. President Buhari if I remember well even told us he doesn't understand the word 'subsidy'.
Fastracked into 2months into the life of the same govt now, they want us to believe they are paying over N1b per day on subsidy payment. Now while I am not objecting to the fact that GEJ govt might have been reckless and exaggerated some of the figures given, I ask from a moral point of view:
Can we trust a people who have denied subsidy existed but now want us to believe they are paying so much billions for the same subsidy?
Is it that they never new that subsidy existed or they simply exploited it for personal gain?
If we say they didn't know, can we really trust their future judgement on issue of fundamental nature to the life of our nation when they who had been in govt at various time in the past could make such miscalculation?
If it is said that they knew but hid the figure away from us to win election, does it mean in future they can hide important information too from us, exploit figures to gain political advantage over our welfare?
Can they really be said to have our interest at heart or they are just people who seek political power for personal gain?

I honestly hate people who feed me lies. APC have shown their penchant for lies and propaganda and I m always sceptical they can turn the fortune of this country around. Nothing built on falsehood can stand.
Time will tell and I pray I am proven wrong.

Nothing is as ludicrous as the ways and manners the Dr GEJ managed the subsidy regime. There were obvious facts and figures that confirmed that though a certain sum was being payed for subsidy, the figures were criminally exagerated and all the suspects of oil subsidy scam were the same people who finance GEJ campaign. Not even one of them was prosecuted even in the face of glaring evidence. The problem is not whether thEre is subsidy or not,but whether such amount was the exact amount.
Lets assume that 1.69b naira is spent every day for subsidy,which I believe is exagerated, in a year we would have spent only just about 600billion naira,which is a far cry from #1•3TR mr jonathan spent on subsidy from 2010 year in year out. GMB is no messiah but we trust his sincerity untill he proves otherwise. We trusted Dr GEJ as well until we couldnt trust him any longer. Nigerians are very understanding only if our leaders are sincere with us.

Subsidy is a very dicy matter that needs to be analysized totally and handled with care.
Removing subsidy is the ultimate end.
Prior to doing that certain measures must be put in place to avoid all the foreseen calamities that will follow its unplanned removal and those measures are what needs to be in place.
With our refineries functioning as well as government building new ones along side the need to encourage private refineries to help saturate the market with products, we can overcome all the fears.
On a deeper analysis, subsidy will still be with us for a while as any drastic action to remove it without thorough plans for Nigerians will be worse than paying this sum. We have been paying subsidy since since OBJ and the govt has to look into it seriously too to prevent people getting paid for not doing or supplying products which is like a norm in that sector with marketers.

excellent submission, definitely subsidies will be with us for the time being untill we can put our acts together by fixing our refineries and encourage private investors in refining our crude oil. All I think the govt need to do in the interim is to block the lickages by making sure the subsidy really gets to the people that are targeted. As for some people who think they will keep insulting the president @ every slightest opportunity, I bought fuel for 450 @ the twilight of your jonah administration and we pray we will never go back to that era again. The difference between Ojukwu and Buhari is that Ojukwu was never an active participant in any coup in Nigeria. Buhari on the other hand was a major participant of all three coups he was involved in including the one that made him Military head of state. As for seceding, Ojukwu did not manage to secede because he was a Military man. Ojukwu seceded because the easterners besieged him to secede after 40,000 Easterners were slaughtered nationwide. Ojukwu could secede because he had the full backing of his people.

your submision sounds rather unreasonable, whilst your Ojukwu was actively part of the military government until when he was besieged by his people in your words and he was never part of any coup,buhari was involed in all the coups cos he was part of the government from the days of Gowon, you cant be serious.

this is about the best comment I have read in support of this argument. You may have a genuine complaints about marginalization, and trust me there are so many nigerians who also believe you have been unduly marginalized politically, but the solution to a headache is not the cutting of the affected head. There are so many better ways you could have gone about it, not always threatening the north as if it is solely responsible for the inbalance ,afterall north has only ruled for 2years in the last 16 years while you have had the opportunity to produce the highest number of chairmen of national assembly(senate president) within the period. What happened to the igbo agenda then.

then you need to check your record very well, in the last 16years, over 30 percent of the nation's revenue has been shared amongst 6 states in the south south, leaving other 30 states and FCT with less tha 70 percent, tell me what significant improvement has that brought to the standard of living of an average s'southerner who has striven so hard to feed his family while his governors buy billions of naira worth of properties in and out of the country. This is also obtained in the north,where some very few cornered the common wealth of the larger population. This should be straight fight between the extrimely rich thieves against the larger poor populace. Common sense is nor common though.

It was in the news a man who deliberately invited the army to arrest his son who was a member of the sect and, the son was later killed in an attempt to escape arrest. This man did not only disown his son whilst he was alive, he also rejected some of the properties the boy got from his nefarious act.
