IjeBos: Huh? Take a step back and tell me what you are arguing here. I'm not sure you understand the argument you are making. And how far should one take your argument?
I cannot believe you asked me why I was concerned about the vaccine since I'm not a doctor or vaccine researcher. I cannot believe someone seriously typed that with a straight face.
IjeBos: Listen, she's not only a close friend who I TRUST like a sister, but someone who I also think is BRILLIANT. The type of person who reads articles of her field in the New England Journal of Medicine for fun. So, there is a point where you have to let go and let God or get a PHD or relative expertise in the field so you can argue back. But right now why do you suppose you have the qualification to argue with someone who has spent close to 9 years in top schools studying her craft? Fam, that's ego.
This is extremely disappointing to hear. The way you default to appeals to authority shows why you hold the views you do.
Like I said, your friend works for a company. Even if she doesn't intend to mislead you, it is still entirely possible that she probably isn't privy to all the complete picture of the company's dealings.
Also, Pfizer has paid billions of dollars in fines for shady practices before so why should I follow what they say like a sheep? Why shouldn't I weigh my options and wait for more information to come out before making an informed decision?
IjeBos: Your concerns based on what? Are you a Doctor? An Epidemiologist? A Biologist? Geneticist? A vaccine researcher? What is your concern based on?
What is my concern based on? Seriously? What thinking human isn't concerned about the effects of what goes into their body? So I can't be concerned about my diet because not a nutritionist? I can't tell a child not to stare at the sun because I'm not an ophthalmologist? Comments like this just dey weak me.
IjeBos: No one is arguing anyone shouldn't voice their opinion. That is in itself the scientific method. The problem is people are voicing concerns based on feels.
When the vaccine first came out I wasn't going to take it. I was going to wait 6months to a year to make sure people didn't turn into 4g towers (I jest), but I wanted to make sure it was safe. It wasn't until I spoke with a friend who worked on a team designing one of the vaccines. She was like it's safe, walked me through the science and said she and her husband had gotten it. She has a PHD in this stuff, from what experience would I be arguing with her? It just became an irrational fear at that point.
There's nothing irrational about having concerns about a vaccine that hasn't gone through the standard testing procedures. Did your friend tell you about the instances of migratory spike proteins created by the vaccine that could lead to myocarditis? Do you realize that your friend works for a pharmaceutical company which based on historical evidence are not above cutting corners for profit?
So why do you guys call people anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists for questioning the safety of the vaccine when you know that there are in fact legitimate safety concerns to be had?
IjeBos: Wait, what? 1.2 Million People died of Covid in the US... so far. There are risks to everything. Have you read the aspirin/Tylenol bottle you take? Vaccines are not immune from risks, but there is a general understanding, for society to continue to exist there are certain risks we all have to share. It sux to say, but at times we have to talk like an adult.
Everyone knows that vaccines are not immune from risks. However, when we have a new vaccine with far less testing than the industry standard, that does not prevent infection or stop the spread of the infection as effectively as say, the meningitis or polio vaccine, a vaccine with an increased occurrence of adverse effects to a demographic with a lower mortality rate to the infection. Maybe people should be allowed to voice their concerns.
IjeBos: You're right. Read it rather quickly. Working on my bike and reply when I'm on my laptop looking for info. Still doesn't change the thrust of my questions. To do a fair comparison, you would have to compare them to the same group of people with the same repeated amount of covid infections. Do you have the stats with those with the 2nd and 3rd covid infections? For 1st dose the rate is lower than 1st infection. So, what about 2nd dose vs. 2nd infection. Then you ahve to factor in when the immunity from natural infections wane and evaluate the risk of then not getting a 2nd booster shot.
Nice, maybe it would've been good to actually be able to weigh these options before companies tried to compel people into getting the jab.
Maybe it would've been nice to not censor all forms of covid vaccine skepticism from public discussion.
Maybe it would've been nice to not have branded everybody who wasn't seal-clapping for the next booster shot at anti-vaxxers.
IjeBos: Now compare that to my the rate of myocarditis among those people that caught covid. Now further compare that to the people that didn't get vaccinated, caught covid and died. What point are you trying to prove?
Did you even read the excerpt before posting your pre-programmed response?
The excess cases of myocarditis in unvaccinated men under 40 who contracted covid was 14 per 1 million.
The excess cases of myocarditis in vaccinated men under 40 was 16 in 1 million after a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine and only increased after subsequent doses. It was 97 in 1 million after the second dose of the Moderna vaccine.
Enugurangers: I am surprised that you ask this question. Gladly, the lady in question just ignores the poster. They download Nairaland member's pictures, repost it and attempt to bully the owners of the pictures. Then the other minions hail the bullies on and they all cheer together like little kids.
Obrigardo: You don come dey lie again, oga intellectual.
You will be the same person to blame Obama for Benghazi. You want to tell me criminal trumps rollback of railway safety wasn't the chief reason for this disaster.
DON'T LET ME INSULT YOUR INTELLIGENCE IF YOU EVER HAD ONE
IjeBos: I believe one axle on one car broke. The train was about 1.9 miles long with about 150 cars. The brakes they have now, activate from front to back. Imagine what could happen if a front brake is stopped suddenly while the rest are moving. Try that on a mountain bike (you'd flip over), in terms of a train, you'd derail. The new system activates all the brakes at the same time.
But having said that, the issue is how the administration dealt with stuff like this. The Trump administration let the industries write the rules/regulations themselves. The classic fox guarding the hen house. In fact some in the Republican party want to get rid of, as some has said, all the 3 letter federal agencies. The EPA has 3 letters and so does FTA. In fact the Conservative Supreme Court just passed a ruling making it harder for the EPA to make rules. And you are sitting here acting as if Biden wasn't around, Republicans would have done better? It's that nonsense that brings the US closer to what the mayhem on Nigerian roads look like. You're form there, is that what you want to see?
"It's not A Trump's fault but he definitely won't have done any better!"
Hey, at least this is an improvement from trying to blame it on Trump like you were a couple of comments back.
Kaycee7: Another new show to look out for this year. Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Love me some palace politics whether it be East Asian, South East Asian, Medieval Europe or African. Premise is interesting enough and the production quality looks good.
Synopsis In the East is a land ruled by an emperor, whose consorts and serving women live in a sprawling complex known as the hougong, the rear palace. Maomao, an unassuming girl raised in an unassuming town by her apothecary father, never imagined the rear palace would have anything to do with her—until she was kidnapped and sold into service there.
Though she looks ordinary, Maomao has a quick wit, a sharp mind, and an extensive knowledge of medicine. That's her secret, until she encounters a resident of the palace at least as perceptive as she is: the head eunuch, Jinshi. He sees through Maomao's façade and makes her a lady-in-waiting to none other than the Emperor's favorite consort... so she can taste the lady's food for poison!
At her lady's side, Maomao starts to learn about everything that goes on in the rear palace—not all of it seemly. Can she ever lead a quiet life, or will her powers of deduction and insatiable curiosity bring her ever more adventures, and ever more dangers?
Not to be that guy but this gives me mild Wednesday vibes. It's definitely something to consider watching if I can ever make time to start watching anime consistently again.
Kaycee7: Love me some palace politics whether it be East Asian, South East Asian, Medieval Europe or African. Premise is interesting enough and the production quality looks good.
IjeBos: Keep playing your soundbite game. Ask yourself what your end goal is. Is it to better understand this issue, understand what both parties believe on the issues, understand how to prevent the issue, or is to come up with soundbites that make you "feel" right?
You understand the issue. The train's axle broke, it lost a wheel, the brakes wouldn't even have worked without the wheels, anyway. So why were you trying to blame this tragedy on a guy who hasn't been in office for over two years?
IjeBos: I can't waste my time on debunking all your misinformation in this post. Again, This is a good example of performative politics. 1.) Fill your misinformation gap: There is a good read:
Apparently you couldn't be bothered to actually read what I wrote because you basically just repeated what I said.
IjeBos: 2.)You talked about Biden forcing workers back to work. Try this.. Figure out what position you think is right. Then, find the Biden position, the Republican position, the bill that passed, who voted for it, and what ended up being the final resolution. Hint: The Resolution was closer to what the train workers wanted which was closer to the Biden position and diametrically opposed to what Republicans wanted, and closer to what you've alluded to that you wanted.
What happened in Ohio is the Republican's worldview. Less regulation and corporate accountability to increase corporate profits, which leads to more things like this happening. In the end the cost of the tragedy is greater than the cost of the regulation would have been (this is going to be at a minimum a 1 billion dollar cost). But it doesn't matter to them, because the underrepresented bear it (by a coming cancer cluster and coming deaths), and the monetary costs are socialized through Federal spending. While people like you play your performative politics and cheer on your team/tribe. Well done.
Edit: This isn't Monday Morning quarterbacking. This was something that was proposed because those scientists and statisticians the right so loves to demean saw it as a distinct possibility. And instead of saying damn, the Trump team was wrong. You're spinning in pretzels.
To add insult to injury(probably because the Lawyers advised against it), the Railroad Company wouldn't even show up at the town hall meeting to answer questions from residents. Nigeria type nonsense.
Biden signed the bill to end their strike. You can try to blame Republicans as much as you want but we all know that you're just coping, seething, and malding.
wirinet: Hunting for what? In the 21st century? How many game is still out there that all millions of Missouri males (from teens) are expected to hunt constantly and periodically?
Then what types of guns are we even talking about? Hunting guns, rifles, handguns or even adult rifles? I don't know understand the obsession of Republicans with guns. Guns have nothing to do with conservativism.
American conservatives, libertarians, and some classical liberals believe that guns are key to preventing government tyranny.
IjeBos: Or his new take on what is happening in Ohio. In one breath blaming Biden for not regulating an industry(It was Trump who cut back on the train regulations) without mentioning it is a Republican state and a state issue (you know republicans are against Federalism). But he will argue next week that there is too much regulation.
As, I said, it's performance politics, without a core understanding of the issues, nor even a plan to make it better.
The regulation that Trump cut back on where fire electronic pneumatic brakes for trains carrying class 3 flammables, this won't have cine into play during the accident.
The accident was caused by a broken axle, which led to a wheel falling off, so in no way did Trump's cut back on regulations come anywhere near to causing this accident.
Biden however, forced striking railway workers back to work. They were on strike because they were understaffed and didn't have enough time to complete tasks, such as safety checks. Biden forced them back into work without addressing this issue, and now when disaster occurred, you started bending over backwards, reaching, lying and coping to blame your ultimate ojuju.
wirinet: Hunting for what? In the 21st century? How many game is still out there that all millions of Missouri males (from teens) are expected to hunt constantly and periodically?

Not just the adult rifles, but the women and the children too
Raskimonojendor: It's funny how you try so hard to make this about hunting when it was already posted that less than 8% of people in the state of Missouri hunt. Let's focus on the other 92%. You know, the Majority of the state resident that do not hunt. I.e. for toddlers (under 5 year olds) and kids whose parents don't hunt. Are you comfortable with a 5year old brandishing gun in public places? Is that something you would like to see in Lagos or Port Harcourt or Abuja?
A law like that could have prevented a kid from having easy access to gun and unsupervised in a state like Missouri, and also make the jobs of cops easy. How this common sense logic hard to grasp is beyond me.
Guns are not allowed in schools, yet the teacher still got shot. It's almost like legality is now the first thing on the mind of people who are about to commit murder.
Like I said, the law was for virtue signaling and was too broad to ever pass. At least leftists now have a new fundraising talking point so mission accomplished, I guess.
IjeBos: You have been taking about, crt, banning books, etc. etc. It's like a conservative hit list of nonsense. Most of it makes me dumber just reading. Like basilico talking about Biden releasing oil from the Reserve. Opening his mouth without understanding 1.) It drove gas prices down/ 2.)He sold it at the height of the oil market. And if he buys it back (to refill it) anywhere lower, he will be making money for the US. A win-win. And also complaining as if Biden caused the oil issue when Gas companies recorded record profits. Double that of 2019.
Or his new take on what is happening in Ohio. In one breath blaming Biden for not regulating an industry(It was Trump who cut back on the train regulations) without mentioning it is a Republican state and a state issue (you know republicans are against Federalism). But he will argue next week that there is too much regulation.

I was taking about CRT and banned books because someone else brought them up. No grand conspiracy here.
Raskimonojendor: If he doesn't, I know. I lived in rural America for 3 years and have co workers that hunt all types of game. You? Have you lived in rural America before?
