Obrigardo: What's the joke? That you should give the leader of the most powerful Nation on Earth some respect? He's a good, non vulgar and non-confrontational man. Why would you disrespect someone like that?
Ibime: You went from Nairalands foremost gay rights campaigner to blaming a gay in UK for SVB USA collapse. Confused kid
SVB UK arm was bought for £1 unlike SVB USA which had no buyers. That means SVB UK had enough assets to cover it's liabilities. It was SVB USA that gave them low liquidity coverage by over extending themselves into long-term bonds. End of story.
I note a WhatsApp conversation with a friend whose company banked with SVB. You have really gone down the rabbit hole, posting nonsense from your hate sites
You guys are trying to twist it into me being homophobic or racist against Indians so you can visit your righteous indignation upon me. I think you guys are just salty that people you don't like are having a laugh over the matter. The fact that you continue to do this even when you know my stance on the matter further proves my point.
I will continue to make fun of the misplaced priorities of a woke bank that went up in flames.
IjeBos: Listen, the problem is you go on sites that cater to racists and post whatever propaganda you find from them. You don't research what you post and don't seem to be able to discern Bullshit. So you push out and disseminate their dishonest racist tropes that elicit the dig whistle of "Non white woman who is queer... OMG... BAD".
So, let's go into your post. 1.) The CRO of the bank was Kim Olson who was hired in Jan. 2023. The previous CRO Laura Izurieta stepped down in April 2022. What do you know... both white. 2.) Jay Ersapah was CRO for Silicon Valley Bank in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and was based in the UK. She wasn't high enough to be making those decisions. 3.) And here is a real journalistic article that if you read it may have made you more knowledgeable and look less like an idiot. https://www.forbes.com/sites/noahbarsky/2023/03/12/silicon-valley-bank-proxy-shows-boards-secret-yearlong-risk-panic/?sh=2398a39f1e7b
And whomever posted that had to be smart enough to just google it. So why post it? We all know.
So, spare me your faux concern about the financial sector being treated as a casino. I have little patience for people who spread racist propaganda that affects me and my own. And you seem to repeatedly do that either by an inability to process information so that you are continuously made to look like a fool or a purpose desire to do so.
You and your own? Are you Justin Trudeau? When did you go Bollywood?
You and your own? She was organising LGBT campaigns when the bank was on the precipice of failure. She, like all the other officials, probably dumped her stocks and cashed out with her 6—7-figure bonus while you and your own (the everyday working people) are left to deal with the fallout. I wonder just how fxcked Coinbase users are right now.
budaatum: And when you are caught out, coolusername, you claim you were not being serious, or were not saying what we read you wrote.
Perhaps you'd like us to include you in the list of mindless trolls? That would be a shame, for I do happen to know you are capable of using your brain.
Caught out doing what exactly? She was literally taking about how woke she is in the image I posted.
IjeBos: Stop this nonsense. You're smarter than this. Where is the CEO or even CFO? This is the reason why minorities have to work 2x as hard as Caucasians to reach the same levels in the US. The moment an issue occurs it's not the white CEO or white CFO who takes the shit, it's the minority underling. And you're a minority propagating this BS.
On a more serious note, I made this post as a get woke, go broke meme. I wasn't clowning on her because of her race, gender, or sexuality. I was making fun of the company's misplaced priorities.
That said though, your idpol argument doesn't even apply to this matter. Indian Americans are highest-earning demographic in the US with Asian Americans coming in second (I'm saying this because while I'm pretty sure she's east Asian I'm not completely certain she's actually Indian). In fact, Indian Americans are hugely overrepresented in the list of CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. I guess the doctor and engineer stereotypes paid off.
So tell me why on earth should I be defending a corporate executive treating the banking sector like a casino and getting burned? Because we're both non-white?

OK so basically I discovered Olawoolo before he reached 1k subs when he did an abridged version of Terraformars only for his channel to blow up massively in the following weeks. Through YouTube recommendations, I also discovered Cj Dachamp and Phillyonmars. Now, I don't really enjoy CJ's work (even though he is an OG of this style) but I can vouch for Philly's content.
Woolo is the funniest of the three, imo. He's a Nigerian American and occasionally throws in Nigerian jokes. What I wasn't expecting was a crossover video starring Woolo, CJ, and Philly called of AoT was African. This is some of the funniest shxt I've seen in a while. (NB: if you're offended by African stereotypes or jokes of that sort, this video may not be for you but their other stuff might be)
Obrigardo: There's a liberal spirit in every man. You can't deny it. The abomination is the right wing thinking which leads to no good.
Bro really thinks I'm a right winger💀. I'm probably more socially liberal than a lot of you here in many cases and happen to align with the right on some others. I don't really identify with the left or right, I'm just against the left's push towards authoritarianism and censorship in recent times.
TheMaterialist: Which is Your Favourite Anime, Out of the Big Three?
• Naruto
• One Piece
• Bleach
For me it is OnePiece, i intend to finish it before I leave this world.
Bleach for me. The first two arcs were god tier, I remember buying the DVDs and chatting about it endlessly with some of my weeb friends in secondary school. Good times.
I can't even ironically enjoy Redo of Healer. At least anime like Eromanga Sensei and Peter Grill have a few redeeming qualities. Redo of Healer just absolutely sucks.
Discountsempai: In Japan too, he probably would have been told to 'work hard, pass exams, and after you graduate, work as a salaryman till you retire'. That's what a good Japanese boi does...the girls work for 2 -3 years, find a nice husbando, and then marry, resign and are told to go and bear kids. (although they be rebelling..lol).
Japan is a nice country, and some people make it there, but , like in many countries, it can be as conformist as Nigeria. Very conformist. And it is not easy to make it writing manga, light novels and so on. Like I said, there are probably many manga creators who don't make it in Japan. The ones that make it globally are even fewer (and some do it by luck...one manga series got a global audience simply because one American distributor picked an interest and published an English translation).
The manga and anime industry is filled with lots of underpaid and under resourced workers. Yes, many of the folks who draw your manga and anime are paid very low salaries. Animes don't get a decent budget (which is why it can take a very long time to see a second cour of an anime sometimes...if the money ain't there...). With that in mind...working as a salaryman from 6am to 12 midnight, with overtime till 2am looks attractive. You get paid every month.
Surely not as underpaid as the average Nigerian degree holder.
Realistic speaking, not every manga artist will write for WSJ but there are several other magazines to write for. A manga publisher with a bi-weekly or monthly release schedule would be less soul-destroying work for. Heck, self-publishing is a huge thing in Japan, where do you think all the spicy doujins come from? 😉
I agree that Japan's metropolitan work culture is hella toxic. However, compare that with Lagos' working hours and transit time compared with shxtty pay and lack of affordable and safe transport and healthcare and I know which one most of us here would pick.
And that bit about conformity where the guys work and the women raise kids. You're probably thinking that sucks (which it does in some cases) while I'm sitting here shocked that there are still countries where you can raise kids on a single middle class salary.
Baddestguyp: comics don't sell in Nigeria... Only one that did was Supa Strikas
Exactly, people don't read in Nigeria, especially guys. I think there may be an untapped market in the female audience, though. Teenage girls love their Wattpad and YA novels so I'm sure you could sell Webtoon-style comics to them with the right marketing.
Brokeloser: Exactly my point! Who would have believed and invested in his idea.Everybody would have been on his neck telling him "go find work oo". He'd probably be writing half baked scripts for nollywood.
Real. I remember reading the biography of Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokemon. He worked on the game for 6 years with his friend, Ken Sugimori and some staff. The company almost went bankrupt, a lot of staff left and he had to move back in with his parents and live of their income because he couldn't take a salary.
Today, Pokemon is a multibillion dollar empire and Satoshi Tajiri is a billionaire. Imagine an autistic grown man living still with his parents while working on his dream project for 6 years in Nigeria. He'd probably be in some dead-end job or worse by now.
