benalvino3: CoolUsername did not say Nigeria law... You are so smart "comprehension fail"
He said certain part of the country. The stuff I posted proves it. That's basically the point of my entire argument! Certain parts of the country have a systemic child rape culture and stating that point was the purpose of the original joke. For him to now imply that I said that all Nigerian law is based on sharia law makes me wonder why he was even arguing with me in the first place. |

budaatum: You obviously do not understand what you posted or you're trying to play smart thinking one is dumb like you are.
First, what you posted does not make any claim that Nigeria law and or the penal code is based on sharia law.
Second, even in states where Sharia law is applied, its jurisdiction is limited. Non-Muslims are not subject to it if they do not wish to be.
Third, even Muslims in Kano are objecting to the limited implementation of Sharia law, so on what basis do you claim "Nigerian law is based on Sharia law"? Can you implement this your "based on Sharia law" in Lagos or Aba where the law is based on English Law to which even Sharia law in Kano is subject to appeal?
There's no shame in admitting you misspoke, but continuing to misspeak in light of contrary evidence just further shows a lack of knowledge! You know, when said you didn't know what you were talking about, I actually didn't expect such a high degree of ignorance. I was using basic Nigerian law terminology expecting that you either understood me or had the good faith to ask for clarification or do some basic research of your own. Southern states use the criminal code, northern states use the penal code. Capiche? This makes what you were saying about Lagos and Aba a total non-starter, and further exposes your ignorance on this issue. However: There's no shame in admitting you misspoke, but continuing to misspeak in light of contrary evidence just further shows a lack of knowledge! |

benalvino3: It is irrelevant to you but to those who learn from those clerics and practice their teachings... It is not irrelevant.
Germany, Sweden etc all had rape problems when people with certain beliefs were let into the country with great proportion.
I am sure, if someone like CoolUsername speaks out, you guys will be the first to call him a bigot or Islamophobic.
Trump was a racist to call Africa shithole which is not wrong... But y'all not you in specific, you other friends are fast to call Africa and the people in it shit when someone says something about democrats or America they did not like. These guys don't know what they are talking about. They saw me post something spicy so they felt the need to go against me because they have associated my account with opinions that go against theirs. There's a reason Yerima was able to marry a 13-year-old, divorce her after 4 years and a baby, then replace her with a 15-year-old all on the right side of the law in his state. These guys are so coked up on the woke culture that they can't even accept the fact that certain cultural and religious beliefs fuel these issues. They would rather paint all of us with the same broad brush. How do you compare paedophiles getting prosecuted in their own states to a sitting senator legally marrying a 13-year-old in his state? |

raskymonojendor: Change of goal post.
What has child right got to do with paedophiles raping kids. Do you think child right act would stop the rampaging paedophiles all over Nigeria. Lol Maybe it looks like a change of goal posts when you place my response to a completely different comment under wirinet's comment. It's the Child's Right Act that defines the age of majority of Nigeria. The fact that you don't even know that indicates to me that you should go and educate yourself first before coming for me. |

budaatum: No, not hearing about beheading as punishment for a crime" is not the reason "the penal code isn't based on sharia law". A simple study of Nigerian law will show you what it is based on, and it is not Sharia law, period.
But of course if you know otherwise you can simply provide evidence showing that Nigerian law is based on sharia law instead of asserting baseless claims, or admit it is you who does not know what you are talking about. Your move

budaatum: No, I don't realise any such nonsense because it is not true.
Sharia Law has beheading as the penalty for some crimes but I haven't heard of anyone sentenced to beheading for any crime in Nigeria!
There are four distinct legal systems in Nigeria, which include English law, Common law, Customary law, and Sharia Law, but the highest court is based on English Law. So because you haven't heard of beheading as punishment for a crime, then the penal code isn't based on sharia law. Is that really your argument? OK, so have you ever heard by death by storing? Or better still, if the penal code isn't heavily based on sharia law them what is it based on? You don't realize? Could it be that maybe, just maybe you don't know what you're talking about? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 11:16am On Feb 24, 2023 |
budaatum: What "a lot of clerics believe" is irrelevant. You might as well say "a lot of paedophiles believe" and "Not that they could all help themselves", so therefore it must not be illegal, which it is.
If a cleric sexually abuses a 2 year old their ass will be in jail when caught! You do realize that the penal code in Nigeria is heavily based on sharia law, right? Without the legal guidance of Child's Rights Act which, as at last year, 2 states were still holding out on (which is good because it was 5 as at last year when I checked), the law would default to "what a lot of clerics believe" which is why one of our senators could marry a 13-year-old. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 10:39am On Feb 24, 2023 |
benalvino3: E shock you right? The other time I made a post on how CNN is blaming whites for what 5black cops did and how the cops who killed their fellow brother should rot in jail... What did wirinet do? He said I was supporting the murder of a black man... He pulled that one out of his arse. These guys are very dishonest people.
They hate Nigerians, the hate whites the only thing they love are the George Floyds of America. They are racist, self-hating and very sad. Child abuse has always been a problem in sections of the country for to certain cultural and religious beliefs. This is why they have been dragging their feet on the Child's Rights Act. These guys now want to tell me because these things happen in other states (where they are prosecuted as crimes, mind you) that we're all the same. I wonder if they would say the same thing if red states in America were slow in adopting this sort of law. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 10:34am On Feb 24, 2023 |
budaatum: You can easily Google you know?
Now, you tell us what the age of consent is in those states that haven't adopted the Child's Rights Act please. Under Islamic law, adulthood is based on puberty. So a lot clerics believe in the saying: "if her age isn't on the clock, then she's ready for the ****". Not that they could all help themselves, though. |

Enugurangers: You were the one trying to obfuscate. You were informed via screenshots that paedophilia is a problem all over Nigeria, so you quickly changed the topic to child marriages, state law, child act, penal law e.t.c. lol.
You could have clearly bolded just the child marriages only and leave out wirinet's other post about paedophilia and child rape. It's also interesting to know that there are child marriages, issues in the south too despite the passing of the Child's right law in some states e.g. Imo state. That makes no sense. It's a silly strawman argument and you know it. You can get screenshots of child abuse convictions from literally anywhere in the world. Did you really think I meant that child abuse only occurs in some parts of the country and never occurs elsewhere? I'm talking about it as a systemic and cultural issue. Places where it doesn't get prosecuted because it is pay of the culture and law. The fact is that the Child's Rights Act hasn't been adopted in every state in the country, can you tell me which ones haven't adopted it? Can you tell me which ones lagged behind the rest of the country for decades? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 5:00am On Feb 24, 2023 |
budaatum: I don't need to tell you anything. Fact is it's not 2, and sensible people would make it at least over 18 for themselves. I never said it was 2, however, there are still states in this country that allow child marriage. I never said the age of consent was 2 years old but you can keep trying to play Captain Save-A-Pedo. Can you tell me the states that haven't adopted the Child's Rights Act that places age of majority at 18 yet? Can you tell me when each state adopted it? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 4:58am On Feb 24, 2023 |
Enugurangers: You are insinuating that the state law would let you rape a 2 year old and go scot free in Northern Nigeria.
Then it is interesting to see the police arrest a 59 years old paedophile and a rapist caught in Bauchi from the post above. I didn't insinuate that, I was talking about the systemic issue of child marriage. There are some states in this country that still haven't passed the Child's Rights Act, making it a systemic issue that we cannot generalize across all Nigerians. Nice attempt to obfuscate the issue though. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 11:03pm On Feb 23, 2023 |
Enugurangers: He initially tried to portray paedophilia and child rape as a Northern Nigeria problem hence the initial "tribalistic" comment. I think he was trying to be sarcastic in a very odd way.
The poster with the screenshot (probably a Northerner) showed him that it was a Nigerian problem and not just exclusive to the North, he switched to asking a funny question like "age of consent in those states". Lol. Obvious crimes vs state law. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by CoolUsername: 11:00pm On Feb 23, 2023 |
budaatum: It's definitely not 2 years old, or 1½ nor 3 years old nor 8, nor did they consent, though I must confess I don't know what point you intend to make with this question of yours. You know why there are two answers to that question. One is based on the criminal code and the other is based on the penal code. Can you tell which one is which? 🤔 |

wirinet: Add to that serious and massive issue of paedophilia (child rape and marriage). The amount of unreported child rape in Nigeria is alarming. LBTGQ and transgender suggest is the most least (pardon my English) of our problems. Woah cool it with the tribalistic remarks 😁 |

How can you have serious discussion?
Remember when Naruto was running and we had discussions in the Naruto thread and even a few on this thread? We haven't had serious discussions in this thread for a while. I've been having issues posting my longer reviews because of the antispam bot. I can't post fan art or screenshots in sets because the site keeps refusing my connection. I've never really been the to type to follow seasonal anime (not that there are many posts about seasonal anime to begin with) so there isn't much to engage with in this thread these days. |

IjeBos: Your point is flawed. The University of Colorado wasn't and isn't the end all and be all of that research on Sugar. In fact other institutions, more prominent institutions wrote otherwise. Coca Cola wanted to have a counter point/narrative and they found/funded one. But I think ur scenario makes my point. You can't look at one select instance, pro or con, you should look at the collective wisdom from people in the know. What you are doing is listening to random people online, lying at that. Doing exactly what your scenario did. The American Heart Association is now considered one person online? Did you type this unironically? IjeBos: I think your missing the point. You have to compare like with like. So, getting the vaccine vs. not and getting covid. What are the risks for the vaccine vs. the risks of getting covid. And do with the booster vs. getting covid a 2nd time. etc. etc. I think we already went over this. You also have to consider the fact that the vaccine doesn't actually stop you from getting the virus so you still have to consider the risks of getting covid even after taking the jab. You have to consider the fact that the vaccine's effectiveness wanes over time which is why boosters are necessary. You also have to consider the fact that the vaccine's effectiveness varies by virus strain. |

wirinet: What you guys fail to acknowledge is that science inherently Has a self correcting mechanism. It relies on data. The more accurate the data, the more accurate the findings. The earth can be flat for 5,000 years, but once new data comes from a new invention called the telescope, it becomes round/sphere. Same for gravity. Gravity was a force that pulls objects together for over 200 years, but once data came from space observations by telescopes (again), it no longer a force but a warping of space-time. Let me add one more example; For over 5000 years leprosy, rabies and diseases were caused by demons and spirits, but with invention of microscope, new data became available and diseases came to be caused by bacteria, viruses, protozoans, fungi, etc. That's true and all but how much damage would be done during the self-correction process? Lobotomy used to be considered a legit a medical procedure and many people underwent the surgery to tragic results. I just don't want to be a victim of that collateral damage. wirinet: Covid19 was a novel corona virus, as more people got infected more data was obtained and more accurate predictions ( and vaccines) were made. Yes there might have been a few errors and contradictions in the beginning due to limited data, but as millions of people got infected and more scientists got involved, the facts became clearer. We still have no choice but to rely on the experts instead of our gut instincts or media and political opinion leaders. Waiting until more evidence comes out still means that I'm relying on the experts. |

IjeBos: Ex. You "feel" the air outside is poisonous. Experts test it, measure it and tell you it's not. Because it's your body and you care about your health, do you never go outside again? You see where your argument ends up. Oh, we're making up hyperbolic scenarios to discredit each other now? Let me try. Person A sees studies downplaying the negative effects sugar. Person A trusts the science and stuffs his face with it while Person B expresses skepticism and tries to find more info on the source of the study and who funded it. It was Coca Cola https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/how-coca-cola-disguised-its-influence-science-about-sugar-and-healthPerson A calls Person B a conspiracy theorist online, getting him banned from social media. Fast forward two decades later, Person A, now 130kg, succumbs to heart failure at 42. On his deathbed he smiles smugly to himself thinking, "I followed the science". Person B, a conspiracy theorist and decidedly not a doctor, jogs past the hospital with his two kids. IjeBos: Honestly, you will be never be able to make a fully informed decision. The data you get comes from somewhere else. The interpretation of that data comes from somewhere else. As I was saying unless you have expertise in this stuff, you'll always be at the mercy of someone else. So, the key is doing all the research you can and finding the people to trust. And I would start by not trusting people who got the Vaccine and are now trying to dissuade people to not get it (Like all Fox News hosts).
I think you should also review your "appeals to authority fallacy". It's often incorrectly interpreted in this thread. http://ds-wordpress.haverford.edu/psych2015/projects/chapter/expert-opinionappeal-to-authority/ Do you also distrust the American Heart Association? The science was not settled and the full range of side-effects of the vaccine were not yet known. I belong to a demographic where the virus has a <1% mortality rate (this has been known for a long time), now it has been found that the vaccine increases the risk of myocarditis in that same demographic and the risk continues to increase with each subsequent booster shot. I now know that I don't need the vaccine given my age and fitness level. Thanks for being a good guinea pig for me, though. |
