Career / 10 Lessons We Can Learn From Honeybees by Corpang: 10:33am On Oct 25, 2017
We can learn many things by observing the behaviour of honeybees. Here are ten examples of lessons we could usefully apply to our own lives.

1) Honeybees live within their means. There are no banks, loans or credit cards in the bees’ world; only the resources they themselves gather and store. Like us, bees need to eat every day, and they do everything in their power to ensure a constant food supply by storing it – not so much for themselves, but for bees yet to be born.

2) Honeybees achieve extraordinary things by working together. Fifty thousand workers can shift a lot of stuff. Co-operation is the key to their success: tens of thousands of individuals behaving as a single organism.

Family / 10 Signs The Single Life Is For You by Corpang: 12:24pm On Oct 21, 2017
YOU SHOULD BE SINGLE IF…

1. YOUR LAST RELATIONSHIP ENDED BADLY.

Though many will argue that it’s possible to go from a toxic relationship to a healthy one soon after, I believe you can’t make the transition without some serious, internal reconstructive work. If you’re holding onto a toxic past, it will seep through the walls of your relationship’s present. Should you stay single forever? No, but you should definitely consider a nice long period of restoration and healing.

2. YOUR LAST RELATIONSHIP ENDED YESTERDAY.

Hey, boyfriend hopper, I’m talking to you. What are you afraid is going to happen in the time you’re between relationships? Jumping from one relationship to another is usually a sign of some deeper shit going on. Put your big girl panties on and deal with whatever you’re trying to numb.

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Write A Successful Pharmacy CV by Corpang: 3:32pm On Oct 17, 2017
We are going specific today.....to the medical field.

Pharmacy recruitment specialist shares the secrets to compiling a CV that will give you the best chance of getting an interview and securing a job.
Pharmacy bosses hire new staff based on a range of factors, including experience, skills and personality. However, the quality of your CV alone can be the difference between outright rejection and securing an interview.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

A poorly formatted CV can make a candidate look unprofessional. A successful CV is easy to read, easy to understand and enables a potential employer to visualise a candidate. A clean black font, such as Calibri size 10, is clearly legible and makes a CV look professional.
Every CV should open with the candidate’s name and contact details — although this section may seem straightforward, many job seekers get it wrong. Potential employers and recruiters look at this section to start building a mental image of each candidate, what he or she is offering and how he or she meets the criteria for the job. It is therefore important that these details are clear, concise and simple.
Your name and contact information, including full address should be centred at the top of the page and you should ensure that your email address looks professional. You can also include details of any professional online profiles you maintain, such as your Twitter handle or LinkedIn account.
If you are currently employed, include your job title in this section too. Additionally, including your General Pharmaceutical Council number is an easy way for a manager or recruiter to confirm your identity and your registration status.

SIZE MATTERS.

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Write A Winning Cover Letter by Corpang: 3:19pm On Oct 17, 2017
While it is not as long, a cover letter requires the same attention as preparing a curriculum vitae or resume.
The role of your cover letter is to ensure your resume gets read. Job applications are scanned in seconds by a human eye or a piece of software. In both cases the reader is looking to see if your skills and experience match the criteria detailed in a job ad.
Your first step in writing a cover letter should be to go through the job ad and underline the key words used by the employer/recruiter. As long as you can back up your claims, try to use these words in your cover letter.
A cover letter should not regurgitate your CV. It should zero why you are a good match for the job role in just three or four paragraphs.
It’s also vital that your cover letter is tailored to each job you’re going for. If at all possible, personalise the letter using the relevant manager or recruitment consultant’s name. Place the name of recipient, their title, company name and address in the left hand corner.
Employers/recruiters hate to receive a formula letter – particularly when the applicant has forgotten to change the name from the last employer they applied to so triple check these details.
Use simple language and the same font and style as your resume. The experts recommend using a font that is easy to read such as 11 point Arial as well as A4 white paper for hard copies of your cover letter.

Business / Mistakes To Avoid When Starting Your Own Business by Corpang: 3:31pm On Oct 12, 2017
Launching a business in midlife can be fulfilling and lucrative, but too many first-time entrepreneurs make big mistakes in the process. It’s no wonder that 80 percent of new companies fail in the first three years.

¤MISTAKE NO. 1:

Not having a “why” that’s bigger than your “but”. You must have personal clarity around the “why” of your business before starting it — the reason for pursuing this dream. Otherwise, you’ll likely be stymied by excuses for not forging ahead — the “yeah, buts” (such as yeah, but I’m not sure how to do this) and will find yourself giving up before achieving success.

Your vision for your enterprise needs to burn brightly in your mind and tug at your gut. If it does, you’ll then be able to view pesky startup problems as minor irritations.

¤MISTAKE NO. 2:

Assuming banks will lend you money. Since the success rate for new businesses is low, many banks are reluctant to back new ventures. They’ve become especially restrictive on lending since the financial meltdown.

Typically, the only way you’ll be able to get a loan for your enterprise is by pledging as collateral the equity in your house or your investments or other assets. If your business fails, however, the bank will own the collateral.

NYSC / 10 Things To Know As You Prepare For NYSC Camp by Corpang: 5:59pm On Oct 11, 2017
Okay… Before you even start your preparation for orientation camp , you have to set your mind on what to expect , what to buy , things not to take and all but most importantly you need to know some important info about camp.
Nysc Orientation Camp is a once in a life opportunity . its a time you really meet different kind of individuals most especially for the butty children and those who went to private university. You will meet , live and learn from strangers. At the end of the day, our experiences might be different but having a fore-knowledge of what to expect will reduce your “camp-shock.”
For some this would be a 3 weeks to remember . Try to prepare well as much as you can for the 3 weeks of camp life:
NUMBER 1: HAVE ENOUGH CASH FOR SPENDING.
Yes o . everything in camp is about money . You pay to charge phones , pay to wash , some pay to eat (mammi). pay to even use clean toilets. So just try o and have enough cash. But having experienced being broke (you might not get an ATM to withdraw money), I’ll say please bring pocket money… But also learn to budget. Don’t spend extravagantly… Be very frugal in your spending. Don’t buy everything you see… Also don’t allow camp photographers take pictures of you randomly- of course unless it is part of your plan. Be kind to others but also ensure you are not careless with your spending.
NUMBER 2: THE TOILETS & BATHROOMS
These is another aspect to prepare for. Most camps if not all do not have good toilets and bathrooms. Some people have to bath outside , some in the bush and like i said in number 1 if you have money you could pay around to use a clean one . Just do not expect to see a good one . Some people have to wake up as early as 3 am to have their bath .
NUMBER 3: SECURITY
Security should be your watch word right from the first minute you step into camp till after you step out of camp. You don’t know the kind of human beings you would mix up with. Just try as much as possible to have a kind of safe lock for your bags. Most importantly you don’t have to show off or flaunt what you have then you are calling the petty thieves to come collect what they want. Note that nothing is too small to be stolen o!. Be very careful with your belongings… For example, don’t leave your phone or purse on your bed and turn away for a minute. Don’t get me wrong, the camp is pretty safe. But some cases of theft were reported in my hostel as well as others. There are no locks on hostel doors so everyone including non-corpers (e.g. women who hawk goods) have access to these hostels. So, ensure you up your skills in keeping your things safe.
NUMBER 4 :KITCHEN FOOD
I never ate camp food for once ,i only used my kitchen card to collect bread once. It all depends on you ,Some corpers are ‘allergic’ to eating from camp kitchen so they end up spending a huge part of their pocket-money in ‘Mami market.’ The government paid loads to ensure you have three square meal per day. Don’t miss the opportunity to use your meal ticket. Okay, they don’t cook the best meal. But trust me, it is not that bad. You can complement what the kitchen provide with fruits from Mammi market.

NYSC / 11serial Mistake You Should Not Make During Orientation Camp by Corpang: 1:52pm On Oct 11, 2017
This is a list of some things that you should not do, some mistakes you should avoid and some stunts you should never think of during your stay at the nysc orientation camp.
Human beings like to do funny things sometimes. Graduates can be so hilarious that you would never think they can be so funny in taking some decisions. Some graduates would do some things at camp and you will want to ask 'which school did you graduate from?'
1. Rudeness To Soldiers and nysc officials.
The Soldiers are not authorised to beat you during orientation camp, but they have every right to punish you.
On a normal day, outside orientation camp, you dare not be rude to a Soldier. But people might think because they are in camp, they have every right to be rude to any Soldier.
Number one mistake you will regret is being rude to Soldiers and nysc officials. See them as friends, mother and fathers. They can be like a mother to you if you behave yourself and they can be a wicked boss of you don't respect them.
Learn to add 'sir' to all your conversation with soldiers and nysc Official. That would show your are not an half-baked graduate.
Show respects and don't be rude.
2. Lamination of Documents
Number 2 serial mistake you should not make is to laminate your documents. Keep them very well and do not laminate any of them. Lamination is not allowed. Do not laminate your statement of result, Medical Certificate, green card and call up letter.
3. Sexual Harassment
This is a mistake that can kick you out of Camp or even kick you out of nysc . Sexual harassment of opposite sex is a crime. Do not harass any girl. If you like a girl, walk up to her and say 'I think you are beautiful and special, would you mind to be my friend?' Then go out with her, hang around with her, buy thing for her, give her confidence beside you and you might win her heart.
Guys who harass girls sexually are retards, losers, immature, coward and fools. With time and cares, you could win the heart of most ladies.
You would see some Corpers in white on white and you will feel like God used 12 days to create them.
But you should always remember that a serial mistake you can ever make is sexually harass a fellow Corper.
If you like her, go for her.

Jobs/Vacancies / Top 10 Questions About Resume Writing by Corpang: 1:39pm On Oct 10, 2017
The good old resume has been around for decades. It started out simply enough – as a page or two of your background info, either hand-written or typed on a (gasp) typewriter.
Resumes have evolved quite a bit since then. Today employers have expectations of not only what a resume should contain, but also how long it should be, what must be included, and how it should be sent.
We thought it would be helpful to gather in one article some of the most frequently asked questions Corpa gets about resumes. We’ve done so below. See our brief answers to the top 10 resume questions.

10. WHAT’S THE REAL PURPOSE OF A RESUME?
If you’re fairly new to job searching, you might have been led to believe that a resume is the document that gets you hired. That’s not precisely how it works. Your resume is indeed the document one use to apply for jobs (along with a customized Cover Letter where appropriate). However the real function of your resume is to impress employers you contact so that they’ll bring you in for a job interview.

9. IS IT BETTER TO POSITION YOURSELF AS A GENERALIST OR SPECIALIST ON YOUR RESUME?
Employers hire people for specific jobs. Each job comes with its own duties and responsibilities. An employer needs to know that you are qualified to do the specific job properly. Some jobs need people who are generalists, such as General Labourer or Handyman. But most jobs are best suited to workers who are specially trained and have the necessary credentials in that line of work.

Career / 5 Traits Of The Highly Successful by Corpang: 10:47am On Oct 10, 2017
Here’s the truth: there’s no one single secret to success, and there’s no set path that guarantees success over failure. However, there are key traits that successful people have in common that without a doubt contribute to their ability to succeed when others seem to flounder. Here are 5 of them:

1. They’re willing to take risks. Are you willing to bet your life that you can achieve the goal you’ve set for yourself? If not, then you’re likely holding back on something. Success comes when you’re willing jump and truly go all-in. If you’re holding back on something, you’ll likely never reach your full potential.

2. They’re willing to work. Innate qualities like intelligence and talent play a factor in achieving success, but studies show that grit , hard work, and determination are just as important. And another study proves that dedicating enough quality, focused time to really any task or skill is ultimately what makes one an expert in something, more so than any other factor. So if you’re willing to put in the effort and stay the course, you can succeed. Period. The sad reality is that too few people are able to reach that level and remain committed, which is what sets apart those who can.

Career / 12 Ways Successful People Get Things Done More Than The Rest Of Us by Corpang: 2:47pm On Oct 09, 2017
12 WAYS SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE GET THINGS DONE MORE THAN THE REST OF US.

Most of us know at least one madly productive person, someone who's able to accomplish more in a couple of hours than the rest of us get done all day. And chances are that person is also quite successful.
It's no accident that great work habits and success go hand in hand.
Improving your work habits may not guarantee that you reach the top, but it will definitely help you advance.
Here are 12 of the top ways successful people boost their productivity:

1. THEY CREATE STRUCTURED TO-DO LISTS.
Most people who have a to-do list just keep a running list, with no sense of timing or priorities. There are lots of ways to structure your list to avoid making it a never-ending drudge. One technique I suggest is to take an index card and make a list of five things that need to be done that day. If you do more, great but you always have to do the five.

2. THEY KNOW THEY DON'T HAVE TO REINVENT THE WHEEL.
Many people think that to be productive you have to invent an entirely new system to manage your work and time, but most successful people take one of the many systems that already exist.
Some built into a list program or other software, others not tied to technology and put their own personal twist on it.

3. THEY BREAK DOWN GOALS INTO REALISTIC SMALLER TASKS.
Successful people take their most important goals and break them down into smaller components they can realistically accomplish. Every time you break down a goal, you're supporting a bigger vision. And when you complete a number of small tasks every day, you start building a sense of achievement.

Business / 7thinhs You Should Do To Make Your Business Smarter by Corpang: 1:26pm On Oct 06, 2017
7 THINGS YOU SHOULD DO TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS SMARTER.

In a saturated market we’re witnessing today, the only way that can guarantee professional success is constant improvement. As a business leader, you need to seek ways to make your business faster, smarter, and more efficient to keep up with your competition and be a step in front of them eventually.

Well, it’s not only about market saturation – if you’d Google for a way to make your business smarter, I’m sure that you would encounter pages with different suggestions. Going through them is usually overwhelming because you’ll either encounter generic propositions or advertisements that both aren’t really what you’d call a useful piece of advice. The best way to direct your improvement is to separate different aspects in your company and invest your efforts into developing them individually.

USE CLEVER NEW TOOLS.

Although it is true that effort and skill development are basic characteristics of a good employee, tools really matter nowadays. Therefore, in order to be sure that your team is doing their best, you should equip them with useful tools that would enhance their overall performance.

Tools such as a quality project management software that enables you to divide projects into tasks and keep track of the progress made in your projects is a must, for an example. Working on a project blindly and with no sense of duration or direction isn’t something you should allow when facing a fierce competition.

FIND AN EFFICIENT PAYMENT SYSTEM.

Career / Do you Need Promotion? If Yes, Check This Out by Corpang: 4:06pm On Sep 26, 2017
10 Strategies for Getting Yourself Promoted
Some career experts say that the day you start a new job you should begin planning for your next job. And you know what? You should! Just make sure that you stay focused enough on the job you were hired for that you succeed and excel in that position before looking for the next one.
Promotions are not a given. It used to be that workers progressed along specific career paths during their careers, but the impact of technology, globalization, and flatter organizational structures, has changed that paradigm. Today, employees have to create and manage their own career paths — through one or multiple organizations. And remember that a promotion is not always an upward path. Sometimes — especially in today’s business environment — you may need to make a lateral move to position yourself for a later upward move.
How do you develop your promotion plan? Incorporate these 10 strategies into your plan.
1. Develop Mentoring Relationships
One recent study found that in four out of five promotions, those promoted had a mentoring relationship with someone higher in the company who helped spread the good word about them. Some companies have formal mentoring programs, but even if your company does not, there are still ways you can build relationships with people in higher positions in the company. Mentors can also be great sources for information and career guidance.
2. Quantify Results
While promotions are not necessarily based on your past performance, you can certainly make a much better case for a promotion by showing detailed information about your past successes. Those who get results get ahead.
Keep a record of everything you do that enhances the company’s bottom line, that puts the company or your department in a good light, that is creative and innovative, and that shows your loyalty and commitment to the organization.
3. Practice Self-Promotion

Career / Things To Avoid When Choosing A Career by Corpang: 3:10pm On Sep 26, 2017
THINGS TO AVOID WHEN SELECTING A CAREER.

Avoid Making These Mistakes When choosing a career.
When you are selecting a career there's a lot riding on your decision. You want to pick an occupation in which you can be successful for many years to come. While you can change careers, doing so can be effortful. It is easier if you don't have to do it too often. That means you should pick something that is not only suitable for you, but also can support you financially far into the future. Increase your chances of making a good decision by avoiding these very common mistakes.

1. LISTENING TO PEOPLE WHO TELLS YOU THAT YOU SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT, DO SOMETHING:
Many people think they should have a say in what career you choose—your parents, your friends, your significant other, but the truth is that they don't. In most cases, your decision will have little impact on the other people in your life. You, however, will have to deal with your choice for years to come. Make sure the career you choose is something you want to spend your day doing.

2. FOLLOWING IN SOMEONE ELSE'S FOOTSTEPS :
You may be haunted by your parents' expectations to go into the same occupation they are in. You may know it as the one that helped put food in your mouth, kept a roof over your head and even paid your way through school. As hard as it is to do, ignore the pressure you may feel to please your mom and dad. Remember, and if necessary, remind your parents, that they made their own choices and now it's your turn.
What was right for them may not be for you. In the long run, there's a good chance they'd rather see you happy in a career of your own choosing than unhappy in one you picked to please them.

3. NOT DOING YOUR HOMEWORK :

Business / 10 Career Keys Every Youth Should Know by Corpang: 4:41pm On Sep 19, 2017
10 CAREER KEYS EVERY YOUTH SHOULD KNOW TODAY
1. Establish your personal brand. Decide what you want your reputation in the workplace to be, and let your actions define you. Keep promises, and make deadlines. Under-promise and over-deliver. Avoid behavior in your personal life that could hurt your professional life (even more true today with all the risks of social media in the mix). Remember that details count, especially when getting the details right sets you apart from others.
2. Seek out a mentor. I'm guessing many busy professionals may say, "I don't have time to be a mentor," but most mentor relationships happen naturally rather than being established formally. Be on the lookout for them. I bet my best mentors probably don't know they even served in that role.

5 DAILY HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE
Now, while we can all study successful habits, it’s meaningless if we don’t
implement that knowledge. So here are five daily habits of highly successful people—habits you can adopt to create the life you truly want to live:
1. Successful people plan out their day the night before.
It’s easy to get off track when you don’t have a plan. Without planning what your day will look like, you wake up not knowing what you want to do or accomplish. Successful people spend a little time the night before giving themselves clear goals for the next day. Then they wake up and go down their list.
Life doesn’t always work out as planned, but with a plan, you can adjust without losing momentum.
2. Successful people read books to get inspired.

This is an amazing principle of the eagle which very few people can cope with. The eagle is not found among sparrows or other smaller birds. The eagles fly in altitude only one kind of bird can fly the eagle. Never with other birds and never in flocks. What is the lesson here? If you ever want to do something great in life, learn to be alone and when you are with people, share your time with people of same ambition and desires

Career / 5 Reasons Why You Should Pursue Masters Degree by Corpang: 1:00pm On Sep 16, 2017
5 reasons to pursue a master’s degree
Gone are the days when your Bachelor’s degree was the ticket to your dream job. Although you could get by with a BA or BS in certain fields, more and more graduates are finding it difficult to enter the job market or progress in their careers without an advanced degree. So, if you’re considering postgraduate studies here are five good reasons you should go for it.
1. To make your resume stand out
In an increasingly competitive global marketplace, a Master’s degree can help set you apart from other graduates or job applicants. Career / Turning Procrastination Into Motivation by Corpang: 5:17pm On Sep 11, 2017
Turning Procrastination Into Motivation

Procrastination is something many people suffer from daily.Fortunately, it’s also something that is purely mind over matter to overcome.

Typical procrastination excuses we tell ourselves

¤I’ll do this tomorrow, there’s not enough time to do this today.

¤I work better under pressure, I’ll wait until it’s almost due and then the work will be even better.

¤This is such a huge project, I don’t even want to think about it yet, I’ll put it off for one more day.

¤I don’t really need to do this yet; it can wait until sometime in the future.
Unfortunately all of these lead to the inevitable day when you must actually complete the task. And while most people actually do get it done under that time pressure, working that way does not always produce the best results, and allows less time to proof and make it perfect.
6 WAYS TO MINIMIZE PROCRASTINATION AND MAXIMIZE MOTIVATION:

¤To be the most proficient, successful and happy at whatever it is you do in life, especially if you are producing intellectual products; you need to have a distraction-free environment.
This will guarantee your mind is completely focused on the task at hand and you’ll always get the best results.

¤Start projects immediately if you have idle time. Once you actually start something and get into the flow, you’d be surprised how easy it is. Don’t think about starting something, act. You can always tweak the project and make changes as you go along. Getting that first start is vital.
