Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, did not answer call-up in the National Youth Service Scheme, NYSC, according to an online portal, Premium Times. Mr. Shittu failed to participate in the NYSC scheme despite graduating from the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) at age 25. The revelation about Mr. Shittu, who is currently angling to become Oyo State governor, is coming to light about a week after Kemi Adeosun was compelled to step down from her post as Nigeria’s finance minister after this medium reported that she skipped national service and then procured a fake exemption certificate to cover her tracks. Discreet checks at the NYSC headquarters showed that the Communications Minister did not present himself for service after graduation and is yet to do so till date. When contacted, Mr. Shittu admitted that he did not serve but claimed he thought his first political post after graduation could suffice as national service. He said: “The constitution provides for the qualification needed for state assembly members, NYSC is not there. I didn’t need it to become a member of the State Assembly, and that is already a service.” Mr Shittu, born on March 23, 1953, studied law at Ife, graduating in 1978. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, qualifying as a lawyer in 1979. The Minister said he deliberatively skipped the NYSC scheme because he was convinced that his membership of the state assembly was itself a “service”. Mr Shittu disagreed with our reporter who labored to explain to him that the NYSC Act makes participation in the scheme mandatory for all graduates like him and that election or appointment to political office does not qualify as a basis for exemption. https://www..com/another-buharis-minister-exposed-for-skipping-nysc-could-go-to-jail/

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to pay the medical bills of a visually challenged NYSC member identified as Okenala Ahmed. The promise by the President was made known in a statement relayed to reporters yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. According to information gathered by Corpers Forum, the corps member who is aged 28 is currently observing the compulsory one-year NYSC service Daura, a community located in Katsina where the President hails from. Speaking on the president’s promise to take up the medical bills of the corp members, Shehu disclosed that Ahmed was among those who visited the President in his home in order to celebrate Eid el Kabir. Another corps member identified as Jibrin Ishak, who is the Corps Liaison Officer took it upon himself to beg the president for assistance on the treatment of the blind corps member. According to the statement relayed by Shehu, “President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged to assist a visually-impaired National Youth Service Corps member, currently deployed to Daura, Katsina State.” “28-year old Okenala Ahmed, a graduate of Insurance from the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, was among the Corps members who paid Sallah homage to President Buhari Tuesday in Daura, as part of activities to mark the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.” “In the course of the President’s interaction with the Corps members, the Corps Liaison Officer, Jibrin Ishak, had appealed for assistance for their physically challenged member. “According to the CLO, the indigent Corps member, who is from Offa, Kwara State, had earlier contemplated redeployment from Katsina State due to his health condition.” “President Buhari will undertake the cost of medical care and treatment of Ahmed, who is an Economics NYSC teacher at Government Day Senior Secondary School, Daura.” However, several criticisms have trailed the president’s decision, as he has been accused of politicising the situation. A major critic of the decision is the former Vice President of the country, Atiku Abubakar, who via his twitter handle condemned the promise by the president. According to Atiku who is one of the numerous presidential aspirants in the 2019 election, the timing of the decision is not right. He alleged that President Buhari’s decision to foot the medical bill is one of his petty ways of trying to seek the sympathy of Nigerians in order to gain their vote in the forthcoming election. Atiku also accused the president of not paying attention to the country’s health sector hence one of the reasons he (Buhari) run abroad to treat himself anytime he faces any medical challenge. I pray for every hand that will share this news that you will never experience blindness of any kind. Thanks for sharing See the Tweet by Atiku below: CC lalasticlala Mynd44 Crazyman Ogbeche77 Yokiti [SOURCE]

Here are reasons why many corps member believed they would be paid N50,000 at the end of August as their monthly NYSC allawee. (Thesheet) For over three weeks, serving corps members across the country have been very excited over the purported increase in their monthly NYSC allowance from 19,800 to N50,000. In the era of social media fake news, it was pretty easy to get the corpers excited over allawee increase as fake videos show some of them celebrating the increase. Actually, the purported allawee increase will see corps members earning over N60,000 monthly if we add their state government allowance to the take-home pay. Of course, there are lots of things fresh graduates who are still serving their fatherland can do with N50,000, but see, any information about allowance increase is not worth celebrating until you receive the alert. MTN seems to be broke as they have single handedly killed the night browsing which has been very useful for bloggers and people who can use 500mb for #25 between 12am-5am to do anything. I tried to subscribe last night but it was not going through. I finally got a message from MTN stating that "Dear customer, please be informed that the Pulse night plan is N25 for 125MB and N50 for 250MB" What do you think about this new policy. "LIKE" if the new policy is useless and "SHARE" if you can still manage it |
