I agree, all these contracts including China, France and other minerals contracts Nigeria is engaging in should follow transparency protocols. Also, these contracts should not be for raw materials alone. Nigeria should be allowed to develop the final products to be exported into international market.

Ebbo noted that the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, revealed the details during his presentation at the Niger State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Minna.
The Niger State Government at its Executive Council meeting on the 26th November 2024 presented a draft 2025 fiscal year budget estimate of N1.20tn for Council approval,” he stated
Breakdown of the 2025 draft budget The draft budget consists of two major allocations: Recurrent expenditure: N188.42 billion (15.68%) Capital expenditure: N1.01 trillion (84.34%) Ndajiwo disclosed the proposed budget marks a 32.94% increase compared to the approved budget for 2024.
He noted that although the 2024 budget had been supplemented by N191.98 billion, the draft 2025 budget reflects an increase of 1.18% in recurrent expenditure and 32.98% in capital expenditure, signaling a strong focus on infrastructure and development.
“informed the Council that when compared with the approved budget of 2024, the estimate represents an increase of 32.94%,” the statement read
Factors driving the budget increase Governor Umaru Bago explained that the increase in the 2025 budget was driven by two main factors:
Infrastructure gaps in the state The inflationary trend in the country “The size of the estimate was informed by the gap in infrastructure and key development areas and the inflationary trend of the country,” the statement read.
Following the presentation, the Executive Council approved the 2025 budget estimate and directed the Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, to prepare the draft for submission to the Niger State House of Assembly.
What you should know Niger State government as part of its plans to increase agriculture production and reduce post-harvest losses has entered into a partnership with Chinese Special Agro-industrial Processing Zone facilities in Chendgu, Mlian Uang, and De Yang City, all within Sichuan Province to acquire more knowledge to improve the quality of agricultural products.
The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, emphasized that this will foster knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and investment opportunities to enhance food security and improve the quality of agricultural products in the state.
The state government allocated 1.2 million hectares of land as part of a significant $2.5 billion livestock investment initiative between Nigeria’s Federal Government and JBS, a leading Brazilian meat processing company.
As a pilot state, Niger is poised to benefit significantly from the initiative.
The creation of one million jobs. The development of 100,000 new homes in farm estates. Establishment of 100 agricultural facilities across the state. Additionally, the project will be supported by the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, which spans 125 kilometers through Niger State, facilitating the success of the initiative and boosting the state’s infrastructure. https://nairametrics.com/2024/11/28/governor-umaru-bago-proposes-n1-20-trillion-budget-for-2025-fiscal-year/

yinkeys: You are naive if you think that country doesn’t commit monstrous crimes globally for the benefit of themselves Look who is taking the moral high ground for goodness sake This is basically business witch hunt More Nigerians will lose jobs when air peace goes down We have our politics wrong They are turning Nigerians poor and into potential slaves daily They are after him because Air Peace is probably getting slots to fly to US, England, Dubai They only want their carriers to fly Nigerians/foreigners to Atlanta I think We aren’t even producing or exporting anything at this point They just want us to be consuming all of their rubbish as well as to export all our jobs We have the consumption numbers but aren’t even producing anything They will soon sell most of the country $ is approaching 2000 naira Dont worry, when Nigeria turns to a large gun sales market/point for them your eyes will open No jobs, the unenlightened in the north are turning to Lukarawas. Sudan probably loading Thank you for this. It’s unfortunate that Nigerians have to pay higher prices for international flights between USA & Nigeria. For example, for all December, economy flights from Houston to Nigeria is priced at $3000. This flights used to cost around $799. Similar flight to South Africa is around $1200 - $1800. Why this exorbitant prices for Nigerians. This is a clear business witch hunt, just to deny Air Peace the license to fly New York, Los Angeles and other US routes. They don’t want Air Peace to break their monopoly, to reduce prices in a similar fashion as what’s currently happening along London air flights. This should concerns all Nigerians and Nigerian governments. Air Peace remains the best options, opportunities for Nigerian to compete in the air space globally. This opportunity will help us negotiate competitive air flights pricing globally, and pave ways for other companies from Nigeria to fly globally and re-write all the wrongs been done to Nigerians in the global airspace. |

Interesting times. When is the market going to value Transcorp PLC appropriately based on the valuation of Transcorp Power and Transcorp hotel. Current market cap of Transcorp Power is 2.7 Trillion (Transcorp owns 51.6%). Transcorp hotels market cap is 1.086 Trillion naira (Transcorp owns 76.16%). Based on these 2 valuations alone, Transcorp should be trading around 218 naira. This price projection excludes Transcorp interest in Transcorp oil & gas and Afam power.
Why is the market currently pricing Transcorp at 459 billion market capitalization? What are the factors driving this mis-pricing? |

I thought the primary objective of Naira for crude oil supply is to ensure stability of petroleum products supply, lower pricing and ensure foreign exchange conservation. Why are we still importing Petroleum products again? Does this mean that devaluation of Naira continues based on continuous importation of petroleum products?
This is not good, very bad for our economic development |

Kobojunkieee: Is it me or are these supposed mini-grid projects basically individual companies trying to get themselves weaned off of dependence on petroleum for power generation needs and basically source alternative ways of supporting their own private businesses in Nigeria? Essentially, I don't see how this helps the Nigerian situation as the vast majority of the generated energy will not be put into distribution at the end of it all. I am not saying the companies have no right to pursue their own interest. I simply wonder why it is being advertized as some sort of improvement for all in Nigeria when it does not seem the case at all. This strategy is not a bad idea. What this does is to free up power resources on the grid. Power resources that typically goes to these companies will now be available for other consumers to use. Overall, it’s a win win for all. Also, these companies might generate more power… way more than they need. The rest would probably be sold back to the grid to increase total power supply. I think the government primary strategy is to increase power supply, in respective of where it’s coming from. I understand the devil is always in the details. Let’s see how this strategy plays out |

Very barbaric, animalistic behavior exhibited by our Nigerian brothers… but it will be a good idea to understand why the guy was beating his wife in that manner. Before we start casting aspersions, it will be good to hear from both sides.
We witnessed here on NL the story of a woman who was battered by the husband, where the husband knocked out her teeth. Only to find out the woman was at fault. How dare you have 3 kids while married to your husband and non of the kids belong to the husband. That’s not only wicked, but pure evil.
While I’m not supporting evil act of the man, but let’s not forget he has been sent packing from Kenya. He cannot go back to Kenya. His home, investments, properties and other assets go to the wife.

Politics › Re: Governor Douye Diri Approves Weekly Farming Days For Civil Servants by courage89(m): 4:38pm On Apr 21, 2024 |
Angelfrost: Good move... But approving the days won't suffice.
If we want to boost Agriculture across the nation, the government must make the sector flourish and profitable.
Give out lands on lease to unemployed youths with the passion and interest... Teach them modern farming practices, gift them fertilizers, and seedlings.
In less than 10 years, there will be an agricultural revolution culminating in massive exportation of agricultural products.
Above all... Tackle Insecurity once and for all! I think the best way to revolutionize agriculture production is really to bring back marketing boards. Incentivize prices, ensure farmers can sell their goods at a profitable margin. If this happens, it will incentivize them to always plan for growth including; borrowing from banks to farm at a good margin, paying for insurance to protect their margin and others. The marketing boards will have ample product purchases ready for international markets to generate foreign exchange. Subsidizing the market via free fertilizers, lands et.all helps in the short term. Lasting, sustainable solutions to agricultural productivity is what Nigeria needs at this challenging time. That is to create a viable marketing boards around our comparable products. It starts with a vision. What are each states viable agricultural products? What’s their current yearly production per tonnage? How can we grow these production on a yearly basis? What’s the role of government (policy/ies), and the role of farmers? Where do these roles, objectives converge to ensure harmony (education, support, accountability, transparency). Each state can create viable marketing boards on their own, and integrate it with national marketing board systems. Another option is federal marketing boards system that recognizes each state’s agricultural comparative advantages, and capitalizes on that. |
Politics › Re: Governor Douye Diri Approves Weekly Farming Days For Civil Servants by courage89(m): 9:13am On Apr 21, 2024 |
Interesting. Do the civil servants also get paid for those days not at work? How do you ensure these civil servants are actually using those days for farm work that will improve food security? How many of these people actually have farms that would require days off? Our government always implementing half baked policies.
Why not implement a direct agricultural productivity policies specifically for farmers to boost production within the state. Do not not mix the two work together. It’s either you’re a farmer or civil servant. Incentivize both vocations to get effective and efficient results. |
