What is more, in the New Testament the parallel between “death” and being “made alive” normally refers to bodily resurrection. For example, Paul declared that “Christ died and returned to life” (Rom. 14:9), and “He was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power” (2 Cor.
13:4).
Also, the context refers to the event as “the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21), which is everywhere understood in the New Testament as a bodily resurrection.
Finally, even if “spirit” does refer to Jesus’ human spirit (rather than to the Holy Spirit), it cannot mean Jesus had no resurrection body; otherwise, the reference to His “body” (flesh) before His resurrection would mean He also had no human spirit. What is the bone of contention here is that JWs teach Jesus was not resurrected with the Physical body but only with spirit body. They believe his physical body evaporated. Remember, Thomas said to the disciples that until he himself touches the body of Jesus will he believe he has been Resurrected. My question is Why did Jesus bother to try to convince Thomas with his hands and feet still having the holes of nails used to crucify him? Why did Jesus then say he is not a Spirit? JWs cannot answer that one because they don't listen to Jesus. Have it in mind that Jesus before he died was human yet with Divine qualities of God who could perform miracles. And after he was resurrected, he was with a glorified body yet he said he was Flesh and bones to Thomas.

Thomas doubted Jesus Christ was resurrected and for him to believe, he needed to see and touch Jesus Christ hands and legs where he was wounded. Jesus appeared to him with such body to convince him but he did not commend his lack of faith. Same things angels did in past. Why was Jesus Christ not easily recognised after his resurrection? Have you read the accounts of the gospels of his dealings with others after he was resurrected? Jesus was a Physical being before he died, he said he will be resurrected even pointing to his body and he made sure to show PROOF to Thomas that he was indeed resurrected as Flesh by asking him to touch him so that it won't be taken that he died for nothing. Jesus being human/physical being after resurrection proves that the Resurrection happened same way he resurrected Lazarus. Christians need the resurrection hope to be true and real which was why he showed Thomas his hands and feet still having holes of the nails in them proving he is human and it is the same body he died with that he was resurrected with. Why is this so hard for JWs to understand? So, if Jesus is saying Touch me, I am human, a Spirit doesn't have flesh and bones that I have, in other words, I am not Spirit, why are you arguing against his words? Why can't you accept that?
