Lexusgs430: I understand but having a British passport doesn't make them less Nigerian. Nigeria practices birthright patriachal citizenship. A child born to a male Nigerian citizen anywhere in the world by right has automatically conferred Nigerian citizenship. However they have to "accept" by way of registration before the age of 18. |

bigtt76: Having many credit cards does not affect your score. What affects your score is too many applications withing a short while. Ideally should be 1 hard search every 6 months. 1 Like |

OgbeniOptional: A night club might be easier. A school is tougher. You're dealing with multiple fragile human beings especially when you say kindergarten sef. If any of them falls ill, injures, anything as kids are known to do. It'll set your friend off. With night club. It's a game of chance as well but at least they're adults. |

MzMisty: I know it's been a while but the ETC given at the embassy is only valid for travel to Nigeria not Canada. So you probably need to travel to Nigeria. Get a passport and contact the Canada Embassy for a Resident Permit Replacement. So sorry and I hope you have had more progress with this now |

Lishabb: The truth is while a UK C-visit is technically accepted. They give a lot of hassle on it now especially with Africans as they know a lot are trying to use the country as a launch pad. Also make sure you have visited the UK first and have sufficient Proof of funds. A visa not BRP o 1 Like |

cbn4main: The reason your scores dropped was because of the Hard Search which was recently done. They have an impact and takes 6 months to leave your file. However you should begin to see a gradual improvement from next month |

oluwaleokey: She's able to go to the hospital but would have to incur out of pocket costs. Depending on the level of care/treatment required. One is unable to estimate how much this would be but could probably be about 300 for a single non-referral, non Specialist, no further testing appointment or north of a thousand quid. Again this all depends on the condition and level of treatment required. If not an emergency and extreme case, I'd try to manage grandma with what she's probably already used to. Or perhaps grandma is just missing Nigeria ? |

Compliments of the season to All We've stumbled upon a curious case but perhaps not so curious to more knowledgeable mind here. A friend is seeking to apply for an apprenticeship in the UK, however it carries the condition we prioritize applicants eligible to government funding and for this you need to: - Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years Now, said friend has lived in the EU for quite a number of years and now been in the UK for about 24 months now. In total a 6 year continuous residence status across both the EEA and the UK. Now the question is, is this transferable ? Do they meet this residency condition? I have taken a look at the UK gov paper on student finance ( https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/639860a3d3bf7f3f7e76245d/Eligibility_rules_for_home_fee_status_and_student_finance_from_the_2021_to_2022_academic_year.pdf ) and it's silent on "Residents" rather using the term "citizens" for EEA folks Wondering is anyone is able to interpret this better or has experience with such and give some guidance (in-between devouring the boxing day chicken) Any help CC solumtoya, semmyk, Lexusgs430, mamatukas and ors please |

Kingkom: None of them is good and advisable to withdraw from If i may ask, why are you seeking to withdraw cash from a CC. You do realize you can pay for most things with a CC just as normally as your debit card or is Cash the only accepted means of payment around you? Anyways if you decide to go further in applying for a CC. You could consider Amex they are quite lax in giving recent migrants cards (depending on personal circumstance) Here's a referral link : https://americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral/oLUSEFjGPz?XL=MIANS |

giselle237: Not fear mongering. I have cancelled certain DD as well. But not all are without effect. I know a lad who cancelled his Vodafone DD because he felt they over charged him for a month. It’s gone as a missed payment on his record and takes 18 months to clear. That’s my advice. |

Lolli2pop: Depends on airport and family size. Qatar chucks the flights to Nigeria at Gate 44. All the way at the back. Once spent about 45 mins finding my way there. Some airports are smaller. Others bigger and family size and swiftness matters too. 1 Like |

ELff: It says you applied as single but only put him as “dependent” usually, that’s a space for someone who is financially dependent on you not a partner per say, as long as you didn’t list him directly as a spouse/civil partner, it has no effect. However, how does he intend to scale the path in Nigeria where he could now potentially be in possession of 1 and another pending marriage certificate, seems like you would have to get the divorce sorted asap or he comes as an unmarried/civil partner with his new beau. Anyways, I wish you all the best. I appreciate your candour in trying to help him move forward (perhaps, this might help you move on (with maybe new partner) as well). 1 Like |
