Politics › Adeleke Vs Oyetola: Supreme Court Delivers Judgement Today by cpu2006(op): 11:39am On May 09, 2023 |
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola will know their fate in the controversy trailing the outcome of the July 16, 2022 governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the poll, saying he polled 403,371 votes to sack Oyetola who was the then incumbent with 375,027.
Oyetola and his party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) had alleged irregularities in the polls and challenged Adeleke’s victory in the Election Petitions Tribunal.
Respite came for the former governor on January 27, 2023, as Justice Tertse Kume who gave the majority judgement upturned Adeleke’s victory and declared Oyetola the winner of the poll.
Justice Kume held that Oyetola scored the majority lawful votes of 314,931 against Adeleke’s 290,266.
Not satisfied with the judgement Displeased, Adeleke and the PDP headed to the Court of Appeal, which on March 24 nullified the tribunal judgment and returned Adeleke as the winner.
Aggrieved with the Appeal Court verdict, Oyetola and the PDP headed for the Supreme Court, which held the matter on Monday and fixed judgment for today (Tuesday).
Channels Television which monitored the sitting of the apex court panel on Monday reports that the parties adopted their briefs and addressed the court after which the panel announced Tuesday for judgment.
However, both the ruling PDP and the opposition APC are hopeful that the highest court in the land will rule in their favour to strengthen their grip on the South-Western state. https://www.channelstv.com/2023/05/09/osun-election-adeleke-oyetola-to-know-fate-today-as-supreme-court-delivers-judgement/

One yoruba man was complaining bitterly about the almajiri culture of begging that have become prevalent in your region, you did not bother.
But children eating party jollof rice in Ebonyi is your problem.
Dey play, we can smell envy from many miles away! Lol. You are pained. Your Children has turn to Almajiri (beggers). |

Politics › Re: Three Early Warning Signs That Tinubu Will Be A Bad President by cpu2006(m): 10:01am On Apr 30, 2023 |
gidgiddy: In a little over a month, Tinubu will be sworn in as the President of Nigeria. For the sake of the suffering masses, we wish him the best, although best of Nigeria's Presidents leaves much to be desired these days. However, there are already signs that Tinubu's Presidency will be a bad one
1. Transparency - Tinubu is the only major Presidential contender in recent memory who did not grant one single interview to his own countries press corps while running for the highest seat of the land. He dodged every interview, ignored all requests to be interviewed and ran away from the Presidential debates. The only interview Tinubu granted was in a highly controlled environment, outside the country. This is a clear sign of a man who will not be transparent nor put himself up for public probity and accountability when he gets the keys to Aso Rock
2. Visibility - Two months after being declared President elect, hardly anyone has laid eyes on Tinubu. Tinubu runs away from public visibility and for good reason too. Times he has been out in public has been disastrous, from his hands shaking uncontrollably to loss of bladder control to dozing off. However, President should be visible, and the job requires stamina. This does not portray a man who has the stamina nor health to stand the rigours of the highly demanding job of President
3. As far as Im aware, Tinubu has no manifesto and no plans. Tinubu will be facing a Nigeria with economic stagnation, insecurity, high debt burden, high corruption ratings, disunity and looming subsidy removal which is bound to make things worse. And yet Tinubu has told nobody how he will solve the myriad of Nigerias's problems when he is sworn in. For me, this does not show a man with vision. If anything, all of these shows a man who is a major disaster waiting to happen 8yrs crying. |
