cruzydal:
this bank is the worst in terms of services .. the mobile app is the worst , their atms dont dispense cash and it gives enough dispense error ..
i too hate the bank ..

You think they are the worst, I think you've not tried other banks where you queue for hours just cos they have too much customers they can't handle and you can't dare use their internet banking cos you can't be sure of successful transaction. Banks services ain't the same to all customers though. I have good testimonies of Ecobank services especially the mobile app. Those who use EcobankPay will also tell you it's a revolution in the industry and it delivers.

Business / Re: My Experience: Why Is Ecobank So Classless? by cr8tvt: 9:20am On Jun 29, 2018
Slimdoug:
Since this morning, I've been dumbfounded by the total lack of class by Ecobank Nigeria. I mean, I've operated accounts with several banks in the country, but my experience with this one just gets me dazed every time I think about it.

If it was not because I live and work at a location where Ecobank is the closest bank and ATM by proximity, and my need to move cash easily, I wouldn't have dreamt of even visiting the bank not to talk of opening an account with them. So, on a fateful day, I visited the branch and made enquiries about opening a savings account. I was directed to the Account opening section where I met just one person, a woman, who gave me the list of requirements needed to open the account. So, I dashed out the bank, homewards, got the requirements and then back to the bank in just about 30 minutes. The time reads 1:52pm. I went straight to the account opening section to continue the process, but there was no one there. Went back to the customer care to ask about the account opening manager's whereabouts, but was told to wait because she went for a break.

So, there I sat. Patiently. Waiting for the woman to return from her break. Waited some 40 minutes more and asked the customer care again. This time was told to still wait, but rather harshly. I could have been at work, but I kept my calm still. Waited some more and the time reads 3:15pm. Again, I asked the customer care about the woman's whereabouts, but this time, they were fed up and started to ignore me. Note that this is me with my money coming to open an account that will obviously profit the bank and pay its staffs, but no one in this bank seem to have the required nous to deal with customers appropriately. Heck, the account opening section of the bank; a department that is meant to bring more business to the bank has no staff to attend to individuals and businesses willing to trust the bank with their money!

By this time, I knew I wouldn't be able to get back to work. The time was already reading quarter to four and the customer care reps couldn't care less. I went out of the bank, talked to the security and asked him about the account opening manager's whereabouts. The security helped searched for the woman who supposedly went on a break, but to no avail. By this time, I had already searched twitter for Ecobank customer care Whatsapp number and sent them a message on Whatsapp about the issue I'm having at one of their branches. No response. The security man came back and told me bluntly that the woman had gone for marketing. Hey!

Ok, what do we do now? I don't think I would have the time to come to this bank again o. The security man then offered to let the customer care reps know that the woman in charge of account opening had stepped out for marketing. They then printed out an account opening form, which I filled and then left the bank.

Fast forward to 5 days later, I got a response from Ecobank's Whatsapp number asking how they could help me. this is 5 days after sending them a message. Talk of more classlessness. You wouldn't imagine how baffled I was. I deleted the message with no response since I didn't need it any more. Then 2 days later, I got a call from the bank. That is, 7 days after filling an account opening form. 7 days. And surprisingly, they weren't even calling me to let me know that my account was active. They were calling to ask for directions to my house for inspection. Boom! I gave up.

Then 3 days later which was last Friday(10 days after filling their account opening form), I got an sms congratulating me about my shiny new account with ecobank! Welcome to Ecobank, the Pan African Bank cheesy! And that was quickly followed by a call on Tuesday asking me to deposit money into the new account. I promised I would deposit some cash on Wednesday, but couldn't go to the bank due to some busyness. But alas, this morning, being Thursday, I got a call again from the same Ecobank, but this time with a full dose of complete classlessness. The caller was threatening to close my account if I didn't deposit some money in it ASAP. And this is just 4 business days after getting a message that the account was now active. Seriously, I don't know what to feel right now because I'm beyond shocked as well as amused by this total lack of organisation and classlessness by Ecobank. Guess I'll have to stay away for now.

I can understand you dilemma here. This is too serious to be happening in modern banking. However, this sort of experience is not limited to a bank in Nigeria. If you ask around, you will hear different tales from different customers of different banks. I however suggest you make an official complaint to Ecobank via the ombudsman 01-2260450, 07005000000 or chat them up on their twitter handle @ecobank_nigeria
Business / Re: Tantalizers Pursues Expansion, Opens New Outlet In Ikare Akoko by cr8tvt: 10:43am On May 16, 2018
This is very nice as i can relate with the person that quoted above me.....Tantalizers can surpass TFC and co.
Tunukeobi:

Tantalizers, one of the leading brands in the nation’s Quick Service Restaurant sector, says its expansion program is fully on course as many towns in the country have been identified for new restaurant locations soon.
In pursuance of this business resolve, Tantalizers has opened a new outlet in Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, bringing the brand’s number of outlets to over 60 across the country.

While speaking during the official opening of the new outlet located within the Forte Oil Filling Station Complex along Ikare-Arigidi-Akoko road, Deputy Managing Director of Tantalizers Plc, Mr. Gbolahan Labinjo, encouraged Nigerians to be a part of the brand’s growing franchise program.

He said the new outlet was opened in response to the desires of consumers in Ikare Akoko and environs for a qualitative QSR outlet that would serve and excite consumers in the entire Akoko area of Ondo state including Akungba, Oba and Arigidi.

Mr. Labinjo further stated that the new outlet would offer all Tantalizers product offerings including popular local favourites.
Tantalizers, a wholly indigenous QSR company is the only quoted company in its category on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and presently has over 60 outlets in the country.

The QSR is a one-stop restaurant brand that offers a wide variety of products and services including ‘local favourites’ which are the meals of the locality where each restaurant is located.

Business / Re: Ecobank! The Most Useless Bank In The 21st Century. by cr8tvt: 9:39am On Feb 26, 2018
WIZGUY69:
This group of criminals parading themselves as a commercial Bank decided to go offline (no network) since Friday, without due notice or warning. Even up till Saturday no word from the customer services (they don't even have any). I've nothing on me to execute my daily task/project. They decided to leave I and other customers stranded.
Since there's nothing left to rely on, I decided to trek from Victoria Island to surulere.
What annoyed me the most are
1. The reason(s) why they don't always send
Warning messages to customers so as to get them prepared. For a company as big as that. Even smaller microfinance bank don't behave like that.

2. What is taking them long to go fix the issue of no network. Over 48 hours and still counting. Even if they want to bring expatriate from Iceland, they would have gotten to Nigeria.

Finally, please my fellow Nigerian, if you love your self and you wish good for your self.
Don't ever consider Ecobank as an option to save money.
They decided to spoil my weekend, Reputation and most especially my birthday.
Been using the Bank for years, and I've not noticed any improvement whatsoever, rather they are going from bad to worse
The question now is which bank is safe from this type of crisis? I don't know if you use any other bank apart from Ecobank. But if you do, you would agree with me that the problem is across board. However, while this network issue lasted, it was I was able to use Ecobank's atm on Saturday evening. I would advice we try other service options like internet banking and mobile apps whenever there's service problems because we have these options to help out in such situations.

Business / Ecobank Repositions For Improved Efficiency by cr8tvt: 6:15pm On Feb 25, 2016
Indications have emerged that the recent re-alignment that affected some senior staff at Ecobank Nigeria was in furtherance of a market repositioning exercise designed to strengthen the bank’s business across all markets where it operates.
Market feelers indicate that for a banking group that grossed over N315 billion in revenue and over N78billion in pre-tax profit in the third quarter of 2015, the Ecobank Group is on a growth trajectory. As at today, Ecobank remains one of Nigeria’s strongest financial institutions.
An industry analyst opined that the Bank appears to be putting more focus on cost efficiency and investment in key initiatives in its Transaction banking, Cards, and eBanking businesses, while also continuing to simplify its operations to better serve customers which will put the bank ahead of the competition.
Meanwhile, a source from within the bank says the recent restructuring came after a review of senior staff bench strength and industry standards. The source also revealed that it became necessary for the Bank to realign its work force for better efficiency in line with best practice.
Ecobank is said to have realigned certain roles bank wide and those who were affected by the exercise were adequately compensated.
The bank only recently promoted 300 staff, representing 10 per cent of the employees based on the bank’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence and exceptional performance. The promoted staff cut across all cadres of the workforce. He added that the Bank has also commenced a selection process of converting qualified non-core staff to permanent staff, in line with the Bank’s commitment to develop and grow talent by providing them with career paths that give them access to higher responsibilities.

PM News is too credible for this type of empty story. It would have done them greater good to survey all the Banks and other major private sector employers if they want to convince people that non-devaluation of the naira is impacting negatively on businesses. Saying Ecobank sack 50 staff to prove it cannot stay afloat because revenue to the bank has trimmed is weak, at best. Yes, it is true that the economy is in a mess, but we don’t have to downgrade or black mail any organisation’s sound business principle to prove the point that president Buhari has no grip of the economy.

reading through the stories, it is clear that fraud and malpractices will continue to plague the Nigerian banking sector. only a few banks will continue to work hard to expose the thieves in-house. Ecobank should continue to purge itself of such fraudulent staff.
Nigerian banks and the police force must work more together if we are serious about curbing financial frauds. Most of the frauds in the banking system are done by insiders and only the banks themselves can discover and expose them. The police can then speedily conduct prosecution for the sinners to meet their waterloo.
