With reference to your second statement, which transaction do you mean specifically? Is it about maintenance fee?
Yea, for your maintainance fees. with the rate at which things are going the exchange rate keeps getting worse everyday the naira seems not to be showing any signs of coming back to wah we used to know. when i was about to leave i never imagined i would have to change 1pound for as high as 490naira. my max budget was 360-380naira. so i believe if you begin familiarizing urself with ur account officers and get to open accounts with the right banks you might save a few pounds

Big brethren, I know azimo well, infact I am registered on the app. I have used them close to 7 times now in transferring money but I can tell you, there are better rates out there.

As at this moment of typing, azimo's rate is
1 naira = £475.2 at 0 fee.

While transferboss is 1 naira = 495 at a fee of about £15 for £500.

You will agree with me that there is no way azimo's rate is better from the above explanation.

Also note that as at January, February this year, azimo was charging about £2.99 for every transaction ( I still used them this year), they only just stopped charging when they discovered there were far better rates from their competitors.

The only thing I like about azimo is the safety and the money back guarantee they have. Asides that, there are better rates from other companies out there.

Cheers.
oh, your transfer boss is doing a great job cos most i know of have higher rates and they keep changing accounts every now and then (that thing pisses me off)

What annoys me is that some of these bank workers don't know their job. Mailed the guy severally but he wouldn't reply my mails. Atleast for me to just know d status or situation of things.
Brother don't stress yourself your form A transaction will get to the school, its still your best bet no matter how long it takes. if i were you i'll be working on making arrangements to find banks that can do moneygram transfer and getting about 3people who can help you do the transfer in succession each month. (i know you'll want to work on getting here asap bt my brother my candid advice, forget about work totally until after ur first semester) all the best bro

Lol you are funny o, almost everyone in UK will be holding the pounds close to them. It will take a miracle for you to get the kind of offer you are looking for (anything is possible though). Even if you get cheaper, the difference may just be about 5 naira (I pray you get though cos it will make life easier for you)

As for me, I can't even give anyone pounds for now, cos as at today transfer boss rate is 491 naira to a pound.

I will be coming yo Naija in August and I am even thinking of bypassing these transfer guys here in uk and directly change my pounds to naira when I get down at Muritala so as to get a higher exchange rate grin grin grin
Brother when next you are changing money from pounds to naira in the uk my advice is that you should try azimo website. you'll get a good rate without paying any commission. just my 2cents (although your 'transfer boss' rate myt look higher' but when you do ur calculations considering the commission trust me u'll be able to decide for urself)

Hello

isn't it possible to learn Photoshop by one's self? I got a younger brother with hearing problem. He's smart, can draw and is computer literate, he literally taught himself to use his new PC but he has no work and conventional learning is no good cos of his hearing problem.
I have searched high and low for PDF tutorials etc but can't find. only videos exist.

any hope for my Bros cos if he can use Photoshop superbly his prospects even here are endless. He learn by himself if given a chance. he always does
I believe he can learn using the video tutorials as well, all he has to do is follow the steps they take and try to recreate it. in no time he'll begin to understand the reason behind each step

Good day, sorry to bother you, I want to know if it is worth it to learn desktop application development.
Trust me bruva no knowledge is a waste, your inspiration is the main thing. before you learn anything programming it is advisable to have a reason for learning it. so thatcwhen you learn anything new in that language all that comes to your mind is how you can apply it in the project you have in mind. i've seen lots of people take java courses for example and at the end of it they say they dont know where to apply it. the motive behind learning it is very important in my own opinion

brother changing resolution to 300 is for print jobs. so long as you are not printing it as hard copy all you have to do is use higher pixels in the width and hight column say 1500 pixels or more for a start and you'll be fine even with your resolution at 72

Please any info on how to increase an image by at least 50% without losing resolution in photoshop?
One thing you can do is to use shift+drag when transforming and when u are done, got to image->adjustments-> adjust brightness and contrast and , you can also adjust curves and levels until you get the what you want. you can also go to filter->sharpen for an additional touch. but be careful no to increase an image size too much, but that will do it for up to 100percent or or more

your GUI looks good, but then like gidimaster mentioned the functionality of your webpage is a very important aspect. that's the essence of information achitecture.
You have links to use various languages on you website which would have been a good idea, but then when those links are clicked it affects the layout of your webpage(that can be fixed in your stylesheet) but then one might ask, who are your target users? do they speak any of those languages?
i dont mean to condemn your work, trust me you've done a good work, but am just saying this as constructive criticism

Some really good job you lots have done here, i like it when Nigerians come together to help ourselves, and i'll like to contribute my own quota.
For newbies still wondering what programming language to start with: to be honest no one can tell you what to start with. what rocks a man's boat may sink another man's ship. my advice is this: If you want to learn programming first, as yourself this questions
1) What do you hope to achieve with it?
i.e are you gonna be building websites? mobile apps? web apps? etc
2) If you are looking to work in the IT industry with the knowledge, check the companies you hope to work for and the programming languagies they request in the vacancies

Your answer lies somewhere in between those questions. and pls note most of these languages are very similar, knowledge of java will help in javascript, vb.net, c#, php and vice versa so when you know one, you can always learn others

Guys, how u all doing? Please which bank is more reliable and flexible for a student coming over? And with respect to ATM accessibility. GTB, Stanbic, Standard Chartered.
Best bet, keep two Accounts, Gtb i'ld say is reliable, bt stanbic nd standard chartered have relatively cheaper exchange rates. i think for stanbic you can still get a pound around 430naira, while gtb has bout 454 or thereabouts. bt then if u can, moneygram save you some more cash.

Nice one creamyworkz. U've done noble. Was able to search a couple of accomodations on gumtree and saw some single rooms of about 200pounds per month...mehhnn but lookin at d exchange rate presently. Its crazy. But all the same one will certainly find a way. Now with respect to visa issues,is it advicable paying for an accomodation from here? Cos I bilv it will be asked during d visa interview regarding accomodation.
When asked you'ld simply tell them you intend to arrange for a b&b(breakfast and bed), for a few days while you find a condusive accomodation. please do not pay from Nigeria. lot of houses are not exactly as they appear online. some might be dirty, some might be old, lotta things. those pictures are often taken when the house was new

I wana ask this: Inasmuch we have gotten responses
on the processes to get over to the UK,what are the
possibilities of getting any little job as a student?
And if there are possibilities, what kind of jobs are
available and how can one apply for such jobs?
Brother, trust me, even if you intend to get a job, you most likely would wanna strike off the first semester and dedicate it more to school work fully, especially if you are swtiching fields. jobs are available on job search websites (s1jobs, indeed.com, even gumtree). the list is endless. but dont get me wrong the jobs dont come easily. often times d lot of us get alot of unsuccessful applications, but with persistence you'll eventually find one. you should focus more on things like accomodation, interview and application, trust me you'll get all you need to know about jobs when you get here without needing to ask

Honestly, i don't know details of the contract because most of my peeps here have never paid for school accomodation before. The only reason why i am suggesting it is cos of the forex stuff which creamyworkz pointed out.

cc; creamyworkz
I am actually staying in a private accomodation myself, but i happen to have info about the pros and cons of school accomodation.

Firstly about the contract, most axhools have you on a 40 or 50months lease, which doesnt mean you have to pay at once, you can decide to pay montly, or every three months, or pay twice, or in full, their terms are often always flexible. bt trust me they take contracts serious here, once you sign the contract. Its gonna take alot of processing for if you ever want to leave the school accomodation before the completion of the contract term.

Most uni accomodation beds are usually single beds, and for those that will probably be having their girlfriends over and things like that, i think that's the first thing most people tend to dislike about school accomodation.

I think you tried to send me an email, i will answer your question here openly so that others may also benefit from the answer too.

(1) Just go to the bank and tell them you are interested in using Form A to pay for your foreign school fees. They will tell you what you need to do.

(2) I would not advise you to use the school accommodation because it is always too expensive when compared to getting accommodation outside the school.

(3) After paying your school fees, the school will likely ask for your statement of account showing that your maintenance fees has been in the account for 28days.

(4) If you did not pay all of your school fees, the money you will put in your account will be your maintenance fees + the balance of your school fees for 28 days (the school will likely request for the print out of the statement before issuing you the CAS)

Please note that maintenance fees for studying in London differs from that of other cities in Uk

(5) As for accommodation, i will suggest that after collecting your visa, you travel to Uk and spend a night in a hotel and then search for accommodation outside school. This will be cheaper for you. You can also check a site called Gumtree for some accommodation in Uk (you can make your search specific by typing the city you will be schooling) while still in Nigeria.

Please do not pay for any accommodation until you get to UK and see the room physically.

(6) Please if you have enough money, i mean your parents are very rich, then you can use school accommodation and disregard point number 5 above.

Please also note

After you have collected your CAS letter and you have selected the day you will be going for your interview, you will likely be asked where would you be staying in the UK (they always ask this question often). If you did not pay for school accommodation, you may have a challenge answering this question if you are not well prepared for the answer.

I'll advise that you collect your CAS and then select the day for interview and before the day you go for the interview, come here and ask for likely questions you will be asked during the interview and i am sure people on this forum will be glad to provide you with answers or guide you on the best ways to answer some questions.

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask here openly
I just thought to say this. With the present exchange rate i think it is now cheaper to get a school owned accomodation, i did the calculation and trust me it is cheaper now. as of today, echange rate in most banks is between 453-527naira to a pound. and with school accomodation you can pay at around 290 using form A. I think the gap in the exchange rate now makes school accomodation a better choice. Asides from the fact that you would be tied to a 40-50weeks contract, honestly i see no reason why anyone won't prefer school accomdation. ofcourse unless you intend to pay your rent from money gotten from part-time jobs. Just my 2 cents. I don't mean to say you are wrong bro, i only thought to share my observation

Guys, I'd like to ask whether anybody has paid for school accommodation using FORM A recently...

I'm trying to find out whether the Official rate for Tuition fees also applies to Accommodation fees if provided by the school.

Thanks
Any money going directly into the school's account is covered. All you need is to provide a payment advice from the school which states the total fees you are to pay.
