Please, buying fx with form A is not and has never been at CBN rate. You're charged at the bank rate. Simply put, they bid for fx at CBN for you with your Naira, then sell (transfer, you never get to see the money) to you at their own rate. You will also be charged for telex and commission which are not "close to nufn". Please get the facts right before posting.
well i wont argue tho. i did it on 15th march nd was charged 287. bt if u say its not possible then i'll just keep shut

sir
I don't know if you are talking about before, but presently, FG clearly told us CBN forex (form A) isn't available for students abroad anymore.

You will need to queue for weeks if not month before they help u send 1000$ and don't expect CBN rate 198 . The fastest way is to buy your dollar and send or buy from the bank with any rate they give u plus commission.

Cc :olowob
I saw that on d news and did a transfer after that. it will be a different thing entirely if u go to the bank and they refuse to do it, bt i can tell u for sure i did it after reading the news online and it only took bout 6working days

Thanks for your prompt response.

what if the person does not have an account with the bank, can someone pay on his behalf? Actually the cash is not in my cousins account so the money will be transferred from his sisters account who has the cash. In other words, the sister is the person who will be requesting for the form A and probably filling it on his behalf. I hope it is possible?
yes it is

Hello sir, please how does form A work? I have a cousin who wants to come to the UK for studies this September and we are trying to look for how to get CBN rates which will be cheaper. Does the Form A process make use of the CBN official exchange rate? your response will be appreciated.

Please any other person who knows about the Form A can also make suggestions on how to go about it.

cc: Justwise

cheers
Yea it does, maybe with a lil extra bank commision which is close to nufn. Just go to any bank preffereable one wch you have an account with, and request for form A they'll give you the form, you fill it and return, after which they'll process it. depending on how fast they are able to get forex from cbn, the school myt recieve it in one week or so. d rate was around 287 d last time my coz did it. it myt be lesser now. bt note that Form A can only be used to pay directly to d schools account either school fees or accomodation(if the person lives in a school owned apartment) .

That is not correct. Daily limit for depends on bank, type of account and type of card you use is usually between $250 -$300. Most importantly, he doesn't necessarily need to withdraw on ATMS, POS and online transactions have limits of $20,000 in some banks. No UK school is without POS, they are ready to take your money however you bring it.
@nsiazu if you can't source for fx locally, your best bet is to use POS.
Thanks, i meant to type 250pounds. i wont advise he uses pos tho when he can easily get a form A it. d banks give it out readily

Please what ATM card is best and lowest to use abroad as a student and pay fees?
Bank with the lowest rate still remains stanbic ibtc. bt then with the cbn rules, i doubt if you can use atm to pay school fees cos the daily cummulative limit is less than 250dollars or so. form A will do justice to school fees payment

how bro show tell me the process
Just go to moneygram's website, click on the "estimate fees" tab, nd fill d details, it will give u the rate. get someone to help u go to bank in nigeria and send the amount u need. person needs to go with a govt issued ID, just like western union bt it gives more flexibility in terms of the max limit, i tink the max limit is around 513pounds per quarter, bt d good tin is, if d first person dat helps u send has reached his limit for the quarter, u can send someone else so long as they have govt issued ID. the only hurdle is that most naija banks r avoiding it, bt if d person has a good rapport wt the bank officials or is their good customer they'll do it. the last one i did was on monday at the rate of 370naira to a pound. adding transfer fees nd tax brings it to around 390naira to a pound

Hello Justwise,
I'm just about paying for the IHS & Tier 4 visa application for a 4-year programme.

The IHS payment page says $978 and I think the visa costs ~ $470.

Do you know if I will be charged at the official exchange rate of $1/N200 or my bank rate?
I'm using a Diamond Bank VISA card.

Thanks.
You will be charged at the bank rate should i say atm rate. its usually somwhere between the cbn rate and the black market rate, bt its alot closer to the later. you can check abokifx.com for atm rates just to give you a rough estimate of the rate for diamond bank and other banks. you might evn find the rate that was charged for somone who used ur bank's atm on d same day u intend to use it.

@ creamyworkz I called abuja embassy and i was given this email admin.reviewabuja@fco.gov.uk to email it, Thanks for your response
It probably goes to the same box. You are welcome. Another thing is, be sure to keep the immigration representative at your school updated bout your progress. The one in my school virtually did my running around for me. I think every school has a contact at the UKVI so he/she can monitor the progress of your request and give you real time notification on its progress. just my 2cents

@ creamyworkz There is no email address on the letter and please can you help me with the email address ? i applied in abuja and again how many weeks did it take for them to respond to yours? if i fill 2 forms for me and my spouse can i send them together in one email and between email and using dhl to send it please which one will you advise ?

Please reply
The email is: Administrative.Reviews@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
I submitted via mail on 4th of January and got my passport , i got a mail requesting for my passport on 20th, and a decision mail on 26th of January and finally got my passport back on 2nd of February.
But from my observation abuja vac is faster than VI center so chances are yours might even be faster.
I think its better to send it together in one mail, so it will be treated together.
for me An Email will do it all. They stopped receiving hard copies of request for administrative review. Just be sure to state clearly the reasons why you think the decision made earlier is wrong. There is a link to the form on the refusal letter as well as a link to guidelines on how to fill the form. cheers

@ justwise thanks for the response and please my last question.
If I win the AR are they going to ask for me and my spouse passport or do I need to submit 2 AR form inside the envelope because they wrote it on her refusal letter that she can apply for AR?

Please reply thanks
Sorry about the refusal. The administrative review is actually a relatively easy process, my visa was denied as well and i did the same thing and got my visa. wah you'll do is go to the link for the AR form in the refusal notice and download the form, print it out and fill it, then scan it and send it to the the email address on the letter. they'll go thru it and hopefully they'll ask you to submit your passport and a copy of the mail requesting you to submit your passport to the same vac you applied from and dats it. to be on the safe side fill two forms for yourself and your spouse and make reference to her case in ur letter and vis-versa in hers. I wish you the very best. just incase there's anything you dont understand bout the process along the line, i'll be glad to help

Except you want to trek through out your stay lol.... whether its private accommodation or student halls you would need a bus pass, trust me you wont want to pay 2.60pounds for every single trip you make get a bus pass of 3mnths or a year at first bus union street. the cheapest accommodation for student halls is at 410 quid per month bills inclusive indeed you can put on ur heater all day and feel like you are in Africa the downside is your rent contract is bout 45weeks and you would still need to get a private accommodation. A shared flat would allow you share bills with others share utilities with fewer people unlike student halls where you share utilities among 4-5 pple some peeps here rent a 2bed and convert the living room to another bedroom to reduce d bills. Depends on what you want if you are willing to interact more with people student halls could be ok.
Do i need a student ID to get the bus pass?

Bus 1 nd 2 takes you to and fro garthdee and the union street; city centre, the average rent for a 2bed in Aberdeen is 700-850 quid you could check gumtree. Some flats are still available at woolmanhill which is one of RGUs hall of residence
Thanks alot for the prompt response. I really appreciate it. wch would u advice, RGU hall or private accomodation? I understand that people say its better to arrange a private accomodation that its cheaper, bt adding transportation cost nd other logistics isnt it evn more expensive?

Having flown both airlines, I am in a good position to answer this.

Etihad airfares are slightly cheaper for the same routes, but not as comfortable, with Emirates airlines boasting a more widely-varied selection of food, and in-flight entertainment than Etihad airways.

Hedonistically, the hostesses on Emirates flights are arguably more attractive, if you're into that sort of thing. (Not that you stand a chance, anyway).

Ultimately, they are both very highly-rated airlines, with one (Emirates) just being slightly better than the other (Etihad).

I think your question is lacking in that you forgot to mention your routes, in which case we would have to consider potential stopover locations and times.
Thanks alot, i really appreciate that. I'm actually heading to aberdeen. I think i'll go with Emirates. i just needed to know for sure its better than Etihad.

And they say it had to be either of my folks or is there a way around it where I can use someone else account. Even if I have to make them my legal guardian which brings me to the next question, If that works, how will I do it?
If u want to use the legal guardian route, u should be ready to provide a court document as and evidence of ur relationship to your legal guidian, and i honestly dont think there is any paper work for guradianship in the Nigerian legal system. by the way i dont knw if this will work but it shouldnt hurt to try, i think if your dad can meet his bank and change his account name, if he has a good rapport with his account officer, they should be able to change his account name, he'll probably have to go through some processess bt i believe they should, so long as he has an ID dah carries the name he intends to use
