Nairaland / General / Cry For Help From Aggrieved, Oppressed Residents/Victims Of BEDC's Wickedness. by CREIMEXAD: 12:18am On Apr 02, 2021
ANYBODY THAT SEES THIS MESSAGE, PLEASE HELP THE AGGRIEVED, OPPRESSED RESIDENTS/VICTIMS OF THE WICKEDNESS OF STAFF OF BENIN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY (BEDC') TO FORWARD IT/PASS IT TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES.

This is to report an act of gross wickedness, injustice, impunity and irresponsibility of staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Ugbiyoko office and Erediauwa district Office, both at Ekenwan Road area, Benin City, Edo State.

Since FRIDAY MARCH 5TH THIS YEAR, there's been NO LIGHT in an area in Evbuotubu (Odion street, Ogiemudia street and many others in the environs) in Evbuotubu community, Benin City.

What happened:
A group of staff of BEDC, Ugbiyoko office (including one certain Mrs Esther Eze), on routine disconnection exercise, had a messy confrontation/altercation with a customer. The said customer fought with the BEDC staff as they were trying to disconnect his light because of debt (debt is from estimated bill that the man met in the store which has been in dispute).
As a result of that, the management of BEDC Ugbiyoko office and Erediauwa district, went and disconnected the transformer that's on Odion street, Evbuotubu, cutting light supply to an entire area covering many streets as mentioned earlier and the people there have been in darkness since that day.

While it is wrong and irresponsible of the man to fight with BEDC staff, it is ridiculous that a customer somewhere that other customers have no business with, committed an offence/assault and instead of arresting whoever fought with them, the BEDC staff are now punishing numerous other customers - including those who are not even owing light debts and others who make payment every month. This is not the first time that that Mrs eze and the manager in Erediauwa district office are doing this same act - this is the 3rd time in the last 2 years.

The person that fought with BEDC staff is someone who is known to be a violent miscreant and he does not reside in the area at all - he is a barber that rented a roadside shop along Evbuotubu market road (and that vicinity uses the transformer on Odion street there) and now as a result of his act, the residents over a wide area (including many streets far away from the man's shop) are being punished by BEDC offices in Ugbiyoko and Erediauwa!

On Saturday the 20th of March, the said offender was eventually arrested by State vigilante, and then released almost a week later, yet till now, the transformer is still disconnected and the whole vicinity still in darkness.

And then another twist entered - the so called Mrs Eze and co (BEDC staff) said their staff that the customer fought with, that they spent 250k to treat him in hospital (you can imagine!!), that all the people connected to that transformer should raise the money for them, that until that is done, they will not switch on the transformer. Can you imagine? Is this not satanic and criminal extortion?!! Where on earth do people pay fines and pay for damages done by another person?

Some of the people in the area have since that time been contacting BEDC headquarters as well as Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) (both their headquarters and Benin office) but till now these organisations have kept quiet to it and the people in that area are still in darkness - including some that are not owing light bill! Pprivate citizens in their private homes that did not commit any offence and regularly pay their bills, how can they be punished unjustly and put in darkness for 1 month now? That is extreme wickedness and gross injustice!

THE RESIDENTS OF THAT AREA EMPHATICALLY DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION AND STOPPAGE OF THIS EVIL ACT, WICKEDNESS AND INJUSTICE!!!

If the light is NOT restored immediately and they don't put a stop to this wicked and callous habit (as it has now become a regular occurrence/habit), whatever chaos and civil unrest that arises from it someday, the authorities will have themselves to blame and it will be on record that it was reported it to the necessary authorities.

Please kindly keep forwarding this message it, let it get to relevant authorities for their urgent and immediate intervention for those people in that area.
Thank you

Moderators please please please, kindly move this to front page, let the matter spread till it gets to the relevant authorities, lets help these residents get justice.

Fondly referred to as "Mummy Apostle", she passed away on December 7th, 2020.

Culture / Brief Information About “IVIE”...Just For Your Enlightenment. by CREIMEXAD: 3:51pm On Dec 09, 2020
BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT “IVIE”...JUST FOR YOUR ENLIGHTENMENT.

IVIE is an ornamental, native, coral bead and in both Esan language and Benin language, it is called “IVIE”.
It is highly used, not only by Esan people, but also by the Benin people and other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.
It is mainly made with blending of materials like jasper, agate, balearic, red carnelian, etc. However, sometimes, there are the exotic, luxurious and upscale gems among them that are actually made from rare corals from coral reefs, but those are very rare because coral reefs are classified as protected/endangered species and people are discouraged from buying such which is equal to encouragement of wrong.
History has it, that it was Oba Ogiso Ere (who was the Oba of Benin between 900 AD and 980 AD), that made Ivie to become ceremonial coral beads and a symbol of authority, and since then, it has remained so.
USES:
It is used by Emperors/rulers, used by people for mostly traditional dressing during special occasions and prevalently used to adorn brides and grooms during their wedding ceremonies.
SIGNIFICANCE:
Ivie is a symbol of royalty; it is an insignia of tradition; it symbolises culture; it is a traditional item of beauty and splendour; it is a significant part of the cultural heritage of Benin, Esan and other ethnic nationalities in Edo State; it embodies beauty, poise and nobility and it is a native fashion item that you will ever find among the Benin people and Esan people and other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

Politics / Edo 2020: Ize-iyamu receives Esan APC Leaders, Promises Inclusive Governance,.. by CREIMEXAD: 9:32am On Jun 24, 2020
Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu promises
inclusive governance,
infrastructure and human capital
development...
...as Edo Central repeats support
for his governorship bid.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the
2020 Governorship Election in Edo
State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu,
has assured party members and
residents of the state of all-
inclusive governance that would
prioritize infrastructure and
human capital development
across all senatorial districts of the
state if he is elected at the polls in
September.
He made this promise while
receiving leaders of Edo Central
Senatorial District who paid him a
congratulatory visit at his
Campaign Office over his resounding victory in the party
primaries on Monday.
The leaders included the former
Chairman of the Party in the State,
Prince Tony Omoaghe; former
Organizing Secretary of Edo APC
and Education Commissioner in
the State, Chief Frank Okafi
Erewele; 4 Former Speakers of Edo
State House of Assembly: Rt. Hon
Thomas Okosun, Chief David
Iyoha, Rt. Hon Bright
Omokhodion, Rt. Hon Festus Ebea,
and former Chairman Esan North
East, Mr Sam Oboh.
While acknowledging their visit as
the first from any district since his
emergence as the candidate of
the APC, he praised Edo Central
Senatorial district for its
outstanding numerical
performance in the overall results
of the primaries as indicative of
fulfillment of the district’s promise
to back his governorship bid.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu thanked
Chief Francis Inegbeneki, the
spokesman of the APC Edo Central
Senatorial District, for his great
efforts in mobilizing and
providing assurances to
constituents in the five LGAs that
make up the Senatorial district to
support his ambition, and
repeated his vow to run inclusive
governance that would spread
development across the state, not
just Edo South. He concluded by
urging the leaders to double their
efforts for the campaign exercise
that has already kicked off to
guarantee victory at the polls in
September.
On their part, Chief Francis
Inegbeneki, who spoke on behalf
of the leaders, said it was
necessary to congratulate Pastor
Osagie Ize-Iyamu as a follow-up
action after the successful
mobilization efforts of supporters
in the 51 wards of the district
contributed to his victory in the
primaries. He said the leaders are
convinced beyond a reasonable
doubt that he will be the next
Governor of the State and
appealed to him not to neglect
Edo Central Senatorial district as,
according to him, they have
suffered too much neglect in the
hands of past administrations.
Other leaders present at the event
were James Izilen, Alhaji
Ebaredelu Bako and former
commissioners Barr. Chris Ebare,
Lawrence Aghedo and Mr.
Isememen Iriogbe.
