Chictechie: Unfortunately, people do not make proper investigations before throwing allegations around! How can some of you say your data is consumed by a company's billing system? I had a similar problem when i started out with Smile in February, so i visited one of the smile offices to complain. It turned out that my Apps were eating it away. I saw this myself when they took me through my 'transaction history'. I turned off auto updates/cloud storage on my devices and the days following that, i found out that i was only billed for stuff i actually did online.Good for you that Smile is the best thing that has happened to you. As for me, they are the worst thing that has happened to me and my business. I am not badmouthing them like some of you are insinuating. I have complained dozens of times and maybe if they had shown me proof like they showed u, i would have seen where the problem was coming from and woudn't be this angry. They turned off updates on my laptop and tablet in their office themselves and till now haven't been able to give me a solid explanation for what happened on Friday. So what exactly is ur point? I am not a new customer, in fact, i dare say, i was one of the first customers cos they had to change my device at a point cos it suddenly stopped getting network (yes, i'm that old). This is not my first time of complaining and i believe i have a right to seek redress and demand for explanations when i feel i am being cheated. Go back and tell ur company (i believe u are a smile staff) to improve on its services or they would keep losing customers; they already lost all my colleagues in the office that use Smile and i would continue to convince people to avoid using them until they improve. Thanks to everyone who commented and offered assistsnce and advice. I already bought a universal modem and won't be allowing any ISP mess me up again. I'm out. |
bily: Sometimes the time stamps from the ISp could be wrong or they usually measure from one connection reference to another and not a reconnection reference. Eg you connect from 9am to 10pm and use up 1gb you then disconnect or switch off your device. You then connect again at 12pm, you may see 9am to 12 pm 1gb used on your ISp portal.Hi bily, i use Windows 7 |
poiZon: mtn, glo n etimumu.Alright, running off to find Octavo. |

Which network please? Time to wise up. Nigeria sha.... Its pretty tough to be honest and upright in this country. I think i'm gonna resort to using cheats too. Ain't no one gat money to waste. |
KAYCEEJUNIOR: That's it.....since she's into research and also a girl...probably she may not understand how her computer works.....that's why her data runs out easily......Yea, i'm a girl but i am not stupid. My device has a time stamp, meaning, i can check the date and exact time duration of data consumption. How do u explain my data depleting around 9pm -12 am when i slept around 8pm and woke up by 1am. I bought the 1GB around 5pm and turned it off instantly and i haven't turned it on since then even up until now. How do u explain that? As for updates, i have automatic updates turned off and moreso, updates can only happen WHEN THE DEVICE IS TURNED ON!!! |
Yomieluv: Seems all the service providers are out to kill Nigerians,am having same issue here with my Visafone.Thats what they keep saying.....Like they are talking to illiterates. i turned all my updates off and stopped using Smile for my Android Tab. This current issue obviously has no logical explanation cos i was asleep at the recorded time and the stupid device was Turned Off! |

temi4fash: oh sowi.. That I don't know. But you can check their site for details.Thank you |
braine: I thought about that too. Maybe her wifi is not protected and some bad guys are sucking it dry.My Wi-Fi is passworded but since i'm considering all possibilities; is it possible for the 'bad guys' to suck my data while d device is switched off? How do i confirm this is the case? |
Gboliwe: Just imagine! You used your own hard earned money to buy yourself sleeplessness! Chai!Lol. God will deal with them for me but i will make trouble....Plenty of it until i feel better. Thanks Gboliwe. |
nenergy: Maybe someone hacked your wireless. Living on your data.....Its a possibility! Please, how do i confirm/investigate this? |
temi4fash: I think you should consider porting. My uncle use to experience same with swift too. So he ported to Spectranet and we have not had cause to complain. And the data is actually cheap too.I'm in Ibadan. Does Spectranet work in Ibadan? |
Gboliwe: If for any reason you begin to question your sanity because you are using a service your pay for, I would advice you quickly discontinue with that service.Hmmn Na wa o. Right now, i can't even sleep cos i'm unhappy. 4K within a week for something i didn't use. How long will we keep suffering all these useless companies in this country? Thanks for ur advice though. I'm throwing the device away but not before disrupting their services tommorrow and on Monday. |
I have been using Smile Communications as my Internet Service Provider for about 18 months now. I am into researching, writing and business development and because of that, i need constant access to the internet. I found MTN, Airtel and the likes to be kinda slow and when i heard of Smile and its 4GLite speed, i was happy to embrace it. And then the whole ish began.... I noticed that 1Gb usually didn't last me for more than 5 days( i never download, just research through google and e-mails, finish). Then i upgraded to 3Gb and even that didn't last for more than 2 weeks. When i complained, they said 4GLite usually consumes data bla bla and even though i was unhappy, i had no choice but to keep using it cos i felt it was fast. Until i started noticing that 1Gb was now depleting within 2 days, so i learnt the art of switching off d device at all times when i'm not using it and even when i am, i would switch it on only to send mails. That was how i caught them. On tuesday, i bought 1Gb and turned my device on only 3 times, i was shocked yesterday morning when they sent me a mail saying that i had only 74mb left. I was like, okay, maybe i wasnt too sure. Then around 5PM yesterday evening, i bought another 1GB and turned the device off. I slept around 8pm. I woke up around 1AM and checked my mails on my tablet( i use airtel for my android tablet and only use Smile for my laptop). And then i got a mail saying my smile balance was low. I was like WTF!!!. Then i checked my transaction history and they said i used 940 MB between 9pm -12pm. Please note I was asleep at the said time. My device was turned off. My laptop was turned off too. I live alone. The device is still turned off as i type this. Please, how is it possible to use 940MB when the device is turned off and i'm asleep. I called them and they kept insisting i used the device to download when i am 100% sure i never turned the device on. I want to report them to NCC and take the case up but before i do, please i want to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues with Smile ISP and also, is there any reasonable explanation for what i just experienced? Tech Gurus, please i need your help here. Thanks. |
Heya. I use Diamond too but i don't use their card. I guess you can always port to another bank. I found Skye Mastercard to be very reliable though. |
worry359: LOts of information if you go and look on Google "I just saw this.............Thanks |
wip7: Okay...can u ask your questions here? Many would like to follow the steps and learn also.Okay, you just made me feel selfish..........Lol Please do u have contacts or addresses of people that can help buy stuffs over there and send down to Nigeria? You know, kinda like freight forwarders? |
wip7: Turkish textile industries are quite large and relatively quality. You will find more than 200 textile industries in izmir, Istanbul and Antalya. For wholesale you will find in bulk around these regions Osmanbey, Laleli, Zeytinburnu and Bursa. Here you will find different designer wholesale stores, factory reps and brands. To get affordable prices, you have to know some particular streets that deals with what you want. For instance, you will find great and affordable cost ladies undies and shirts along Rumeli street at Osmanbey. I know in and out of these region and to answer some of your questions above:Hi, please i need to talk to u. I just sent u a PM. Thanks. |
