Chictechie: Unfortunately, people do not make proper investigations before throwing allegations around! How can some of you say your data is consumed by a company's billing system? I had a similar problem when i started out with Smile in February, so i visited one of the smile offices to complain. It turned out that my Apps were eating it away. I saw this myself when they took me through my 'transaction history'. I turned off auto updates/cloud storage on my devices and the days following that, i found out that i was only billed for stuff i actually did online.

As far as I am concerned, Smile is the best thing that happened to Nigerians. They even added some new features on their Smile Customer Portal recently, that helps you control your data/usage. What other Telco would do that for you? Maybe if you spent more time searching for the root cause rather than writing terrible things about a company like Smile, you would have solved your problem & probably saved yourself the self induced high blood pressure.

I hope this helps!
Good for you that Smile is the best thing that has happened to you. As for me, they are the worst thing that has happened to me and my business.

I am not badmouthing them like some of you are insinuating. I have complained dozens of times and maybe if they had shown me proof like they showed u, i would have seen where the problem was coming from and woudn't be this angry.

They turned off updates on my laptop and tablet in their office themselves and till now haven't been able to give me a solid explanation for what happened on Friday. So what exactly is ur point?

I am not a new customer, in fact, i dare say, i was one of the first customers cos they had to change my device at a point cos it suddenly stopped getting network (yes, i'm that old). This is not my first time of complaining and i believe i have a right to seek redress and demand for explanations when i feel i am being cheated.

Go back and tell ur company (i believe u are a smile staff) to improve on its services or they would keep losing customers; they already lost all my colleagues in the office that use Smile and i would continue to convince people to avoid using them until they improve.

Thanks to everyone who commented and offered assistsnce and advice. I already bought a universal modem and won't be allowing any ISP mess me up again.
I'm out.

bily: Sometimes the time stamps from the ISp could be wrong or they usually measure from one connection reference to another and not a reconnection reference. Eg you connect from 9am to 10pm and use up 1gb you then disconnect or switch off your device. You then connect again at 12pm, you may see 9am to 12 pm 1gb used on your ISp portal.

The best way to approximate your usage is to use the laptop itself.

Which version of windows are you using so I can show you what to do to really confirm if smile is cheating you.
Hi bily, i use Windows 7

KAYCEEJUNIOR: That's it.....since she's into research and also a girl...probably she may not understand how her computer works.....that's why her data runs out easily......
Yea, i'm a girl but i am not stupid.

My device has a time stamp, meaning, i can check the date and exact time duration of data consumption. How do u explain my data depleting around 9pm -12 am when i slept around 8pm and woke up by 1am.

I bought the 1GB around 5pm and turned it off instantly and i haven't turned it on since then even up until now.

How do u explain that?

As for updates, i have automatic updates turned off and moreso, updates can only happen WHEN THE DEVICE IS TURNED ON!!!

Yomieluv: Seems all the service providers are out to kill Nigerians,am having same issue here with my Visafone.

I bought 7gig,and within 3 days,I saw a message on their portal that I have 5mb left. I was surprised,next thing,it didn't connect again.

Called their agent,I was told I exhausted my data, maybe there's underground application of my laptop consuming my data. I didn't download anything.

Funniest thing is that they always have an excuse for their inefficiency.
Thats what they keep saying.....Like they are talking to illiterates. i turned all my updates off and stopped using Smile for my Android Tab.

This current issue obviously has no logical explanation cos i was asleep at the recorded time and the stupid device was Turned Off!

My Wi-Fi is passworded but since i'm considering all possibilities; is it possible for the 'bad guys' to suck my data while d device is switched off?

How do i confirm this is the case?

Gboliwe: If for any reason you begin to question your sanity because you are using a service your pay for, I would advice you quickly discontinue with that service.

I do not use smile but I had the exact same kind of experience with MTN network and their data. The day I ported was the day I got my sanity back. I mean, I was always complaining, switching off and on of my phone, yet my data will always disappear and the useless agents at the customer service will always insist that their records showed I browsed away 1G in 6days when I didn't download anything and I use a blackberry not even an android. It was always me against them. Pathetic!

Then one day, with my own hands, I signed them away but not before I fingerlashed them on their facebook page.
You should do the same
Hmmn Na wa o. Right now, i can't even sleep cos i'm unhappy. 4K within a week for something i didn't use. How long will we keep suffering all these useless companies in this country?

Thanks for ur advice though. I'm throwing the device away but not before disrupting their services tommorrow and on Monday.
PhonesSmile Communication Has Been Robbing Me Of My Hard Earned Money by cremeandchic(op): 2:44am On Sep 13, 2014
I have been using Smile Communications as my Internet Service Provider for about 18 months now. I am into researching, writing and business development and because of that, i need constant access to the internet.

I found MTN, Airtel and the likes to be kinda slow and when i heard of Smile and its 4GLite speed, i was happy to embrace it. And then the whole ish began....

I noticed that 1Gb usually didn't last me for more than 5 days( i never download, just research through google and e-mails, finish). Then i upgraded to 3Gb and even that didn't last for more than 2 weeks. When i complained, they said 4GLite usually consumes data bla bla and even though i was unhappy, i had no choice but to keep using it cos i felt it was fast.

Until i started noticing that 1Gb was now depleting within 2 days, so i learnt the art of switching off d device at all times when i'm not using it and even when i am, i would switch it on only to send mails. That was how i caught them.

On tuesday, i bought 1Gb and turned my device on only 3 times, i was shocked yesterday morning when they sent me a mail saying that i had only 74mb left. I was like, okay, maybe i wasnt too sure. Then around 5PM yesterday evening, i bought another 1GB and turned the device off. I slept around 8pm.

I woke up around 1AM and checked my mails on my tablet( i use airtel for my android tablet and only use Smile for my laptop). And then i got a mail saying my smile balance was low. I was like WTF!!!. Then i checked my transaction history and they said i used 940 MB between 9pm -12pm.

Please note
I was asleep at the said time.
My device was turned off.
My laptop was turned off too.
I live alone.
The device is still turned off as i type this.

Please, how is it possible to use 940MB when the device is turned off and i'm asleep. I called them and they kept insisting i used the device to download when i am 100% sure i never turned the device on.

I want to report them to NCC and take the case up but before i do, please i want to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues with Smile ISP and also, is there any reasonable explanation for what i just experienced?

Tech Gurus, please i need your help here.

Thanks.

TravelRe: Travelling To Turkey To Buy Clothes by cremeandchic(op): 1:53pm On Sep 12, 2014
worry359: LOts of information if you go and look on Google "
"Turkish wholesale clothes sales"

https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Turkish+wholesale+clothes+sales

For example
1. Re: Buying wholesale clothing and accessories from Istanbul
02 February 2013, 22:06

entu_13, welcome to Istanbul.

There are many areas that manufacture and wholesale ladies clothing. These are Osmanbey, Merter, Laleli, Zeytinburnu, Gungoren, Yeni Bosna, etc. However the first three are the most important. You should visit these three areas. but especially Osmanbey and Merter.

Now Osmanbey is one metro stop away from Taksim. So you can stay at Taksim hotels, "taksim.hotelle.com".

You should be looking at the showrooms at Osmanbey which are mostly at Sair Nigar, Haci Mansur and Kodaman streets. Have a look. "http:///maps/e2YJe".

For some links on showrooms, here are some useful websites. "www.osmanbeyfashion.com/eng/bayangiyim.html", and "osmanbeyfashionguide.com/en/kadn-giyim.html". For freight forwarders and an agent, have a look: "www.tradeegypt.com/39174/?link=&id=39174". Finally for further listings, have a look: "http:///9kq5j28". For evening dresses: "www.tekstilportal.com/rehber_v3_en.asp…"

For merter wholesalers, you can have a look: "whocit.com". And finally here are some more companies. "…europages.co.uk/business-directory-europe/d…".

1. The best three places to go are Osmanbey, Merter and Laleli.

2- Check the text above.

3- Kuyumcukent is the place to go for wholesale purchasing of jewelery. For belts, wallets, etc. Again Osmanbey, Merter and Laleli.

4- You can not get info about wholesale prices without being into the showrooms. tell them exactly what you are looking for amd what you want to do.

5- Wholesalers deal either with cash or credit cards. However to get wholesale prices, you need to buy quantity. These are not retail stores. You can bargain if you like for lower prices.

6- I gave you a contact for a freight forwarder at Osmanbey. Ask them all those questions. The best is one shipment alltogether.

7- Check the laws of Estonia for customs duties for importing textiles into the country. You have to do your homework.

8- I already suggested that you stay at Taksim area.

9- Finally I suggest that you visit some malls in Istanbul to see the merchandise also. Cevahir Mall, Kanyon Mall, Trump Towers Mall, and Istinye park Mall are good candidates. They are all on the metroline from Taksim. For Cevahir and Trump Towers, get off at Sisli, for Kanyon get off at Levent, and for Istinye Park get off the metro at ITU-Ayazaga station.

good luck,

enigma...
I just saw this.............Thanks

wip7: Okay...can u ask your questions here? Many would like to follow the steps and learn also.
Okay, you just made me feel selfish..........Lol

Please do u have contacts or addresses of people that can help buy stuffs over there and send down to Nigeria? You know, kinda like freight forwarders?
TravelRe: Travelling To Turkey To Buy Clothes by cremeandchic(op): 9:52am On Sep 12, 2014
wip7: Turkish textile industries are quite large and relatively quality. You will find more than 200 textile industries in izmir, Istanbul and Antalya. For wholesale you will find in bulk around these regions Osmanbey, Laleli, Zeytinburnu and Bursa. Here you will find different designer wholesale stores, factory reps and brands. To get affordable prices, you have to know some particular streets that deals with what you want. For instance, you will find great and affordable cost ladies undies and shirts along Rumeli street at Osmanbey. I know in and out of these region and to answer some of your questions above:

(1) visa: You have to apply for Business visa at Turkish embassy Abuja. This visa category could be very difficult since many people have abused it. But if you get invitation from big companies or wholesale stores then it will be easier and you can find the procedure to secure that on the embassy website.

(2) cloths are cheap compare to European and American sales cost but is highly not comparable to Chinese or African cost prices. Reason been that, Turkish companies or factories are strictly rigid and may not want to adapt to your on specifiction due to their Governmental policies. For example, i want to purchase Anti-theft nail for a company in Nigeria and the company was willing to purchase at 50N per one. Turkish company that produces this type of nail has standard specs and can only sell at landing cost of 45-48N. Same nail can be custom-made for me in most Chinese factories and i got offers ranging from 20-30N unfortunately the company that needs it want Turkish product....so half half cake is better than puffpuff. Ladies cloths quality wholesale ranges from 30-100TL (1TL is currently as it today around 76-78N)..do the maths.

(3) quality: Yes highly quality and trendy and enough designer brands even from other countries but production based in Turkey like Mango, Zara etc.

(4) Flight: you have to ask the airlines or traveling agent since it varies but should be less than 200K.

(5) order online: yes they have some stores online and majorly in Turkish Language but cloths order online are retail not Wholesale cost. For real business you have to visit or find somebody do the job for you.

Wish you luck in your biz!!
Hi, please i need to talk to u. I just sent u a PM. Thanks.

I'm a content writer and a business development consultant. I would help you with at least 100,000 emails daily at 0.50 Kobo per email and i would also write you a very good e-mail copy for free.

Remember that the number of mails you send is not as important as the content. The content is what would give you return for your investments.

Let's talk on creandchic@gmail.com when you are ready.

Cheers.
