ResourceMan: @ AllHi Resourceman, You promised to teach some skills on this thread. We are patiently waiting for you. God bless u. Ladywriter, i know i've not been a good student, battling with 90 1,000 word articles and i have to be done by Sunday. I would have more time when i'm done. I hope everyone is doing well. Pls don't focus on Freelancer alone o. There are writing jobs on the literature ads section on Nairaland and on several other places on the internet too. Cheers. |

sccofield: hello @ladywriter and everybody finally made my first money from freelancer after about one week of registering. It was a contest though not on writing but on website design. I did it and my design was chosen as the best. Thanks you all for all the motivation. its this thread that made me registered and am really grateful. I Pray for more success for all of us.Happy to read this. Congrats |
satmaniac: thanks for sharing this vital information @ ladywriter, although, I have never writen a good letter how much more an article before considering given an ebook a try, however I will start practicing(who wouldn't, $1000 is involved hereYou can learn. I'm currently training my 16-year old sister on how to write and she's catching on fast. If a 16-year old can learn, why can't you? If you are willing and ready to learn, you sure can. |
ibkgab001: Now I see more reasons why God is against you people despite been blessed with more resources your Parents wandering around the street to get 1 tin cup of Garri to survive ... Hold on to your God vengeane there is always a way for us who trust and have Faith in HimWhat is dis one saying? ![]() |
majekdom2: bro , I usually dont do e debate. google is a best way to find answers , secondly you want someone who is faceless and who you can't tell f he truly works offshore to help you answer that ..... have you heard of linkedin , on there you can actually check out great career pofiles. like you said , I know nothing and why you denying you dont want a career offshore .... thats the problem with majoity of us , we dont like to face the reality. anyways all the best in ur pursuitRelax na, why are u attacking people? let everyone have their say and go their way na. Hmmn Top10Nigeria; interesting CV, attractive remuneration. But did you say u and ur wife both work offshore? Pardon my curiousity but do u have kids and if you do; how do u manage the home front? @Amusaopeyemi; U wanna secure ur future by marrying oyel husband issorait o, i wish u luck. Well, let's just say all that glitters isn't gold. I have a lot of them as friends with broken homes and i really don't understand it cos they are sweet guys. I also have a friend currently married to one and she complains a lot;maybe she's just not used to the long periods of absence yet. She confessed to me that she "likes it when he's away" cos its always one issue or the other when he's around. Their marriage is young though. So my dear, work hard and make your money so that you can marry someone you love and not just for the title orthe job. Although i know u were just kidding withur comment. Abeg offshore guys, i wan ask una kweshion, make una no crucify me o... Is it true that there's a whole lot of man-loving going on offshore (i read something like dat somewhere)? And why do u guys dress so shabbily with dem boots n weak t-hirts on shore. Is that a sort of camouflage so that people don't know what u're worth or is it just the ones i know? |
iiichidodo: Imagine an Ebola outbreak in the middle of nowhere offshore......Or a giant water squid invades a rig and picks off the workers one by one....digesting and drinking their bodily fluids.... Ur imagination though! Funny but not funny..... U guys have got an interesting and well paying albeit risky job. May the almighty continue to guide and keep you all. Cheers! |

ladywriter: @cremeandchic, YOU MADE MY DAY! WOW! I am thrilled to hear testimonies like this. I give God ALL THE GLORY!Yes, it's been God. Thank you too cos somehow, he used you for me. Don't stop doing what you do. A lot of people would rather keep this to themselves but you choose to bless others instead and i believe that GOD would continue to reward you. |
nne4: pls @ ladywriter and the gurus in house,l dont have a laptop; can l use my android tablet pc for a start because l tried using my android smart phone to sign up but it didn't go through. tnxsYes, u can use your android tablet. Just download Kingsoft Office or Polaris office like i have on my Samsung Tablet. To make typing easier, buy a keyboard. I bought one for N6,500. However, there are some disadvantages of using a tablet. Some of the word processors cannot match the standard of microsoft word. For instance, i noticed that Microsoft word allows for thorough editing so that your work appears neater. A lot of errors slip through Kingsoft word processor and that is why i don't like using it. If i have to use Kingsoft now, i write with it and then transfer the contents to my laptop for full editing. If you can gain access to a laptop or computer even if its just for few minutes so that you can edit with Microsoft word, its better but as soon as you make enough money, run to get yourself a laptop. You don't need a fancy laptop; even a fairly used laptop would do. |
Well, i'm currently busy but i feel its important for me to share my story here to serve as an inspiration to others. I met ladywriter around this time last year. I was frustrated with my job and extremely idle and i was looking for ways to make money. Somehow, i found her thread on how to make $1,000 monthly just from writing. $1,000 you say? From writing? How? Where? Those were the questions that filled my mind so i opened the thread and read all she wrote there. Even though i had my reservations, i felt it was worth trying. The first few weeks were frustrating- i got NO jobs at all. It was as if i didn't exist in spite of updating my profile and doing all that was supposedly required. It was at that point i decided to contact her via her e-mail address to ask for assistance. She was very helpful and friendly. She took a look at my profile on freelancer and suggested i change somethings. She also gave me my very first job on Freelancer; i think it was about 5 articles and even though i was an amateur writer then, she paid me $2 per article and gave me a good review. After then, i got two clients on Freelancer, when i worked with them and they liked my job, they hired me outside Freelancer and now i hardly go on Freelancer anymore. As my skills improved, my charges improved. Articles which i used to write for $1.5 - $2, i now write them for nothing less than $6. In fact, you cannot even bring articles of $2 close to me cos I WILL REJECT THE JOB. People literally beg me to write their articles now even when i'm busy, they don't mind waiting. Mind you, these are not Freelancer clients, i just used Freelancer as a stepping stone. I get clients through referrals now. Now on the Naija end here, i earn nothing less than N100,000 a month from writing for blogs and i could earn more if i was a full-time writer but i only write part-time although i'm planning to leave my job for full time writing. I am not writing all of these to brag. I'm sharing my testimony because somehow i believe that there is someone out there who is in my shoes and can be motivated by my story. Yes i wrote $1 articles, yes i didn't get paid sometimes, i even gave up a few times but i am filled with nothing but thanks. Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you cannot make $1,000 from writing. You absolutely can! Just start from somewhere; i started from $2 articles too. I wish you all good luck. |
Ladywriter, i just sent u another mail, pls reply |
ladywriter: @U1, I started writing articles at $1.00 and then $1.25, $2, $2.5, $3 and eventually $5. It really helped me to build my credibility and rating on freelancer and also polished my writing skill. For each project you complete successfully, you receive a feedback from the client and freelancer gives you a star. Most employers will check the number of projects you complete before they can hire you. When you have lots of reviews from employers, it will erase the fact that you are from Africa. You will be seen as a professional. I have seen people who started on freelancer and have their own content writing business today. It is a starting point. You need to start from somewhere because Rome was not built in a day.Hi Ladywriter, it's Jumoke. I left you several mails on the mentoring program since sunday and you haven't replied me till now. |
