I don't usually grace the mentions of ghosts and cowards of cheap duplicity with a reply.

Your moniker is barely a week and a couple days. I've seen worse case that yours.

Right now you're inconsequential, your opinions don't matter.

The idea of pride, principles, honour and grace is still a foreign concept to you.

Buzz off!!!
You dare to call for pride, principles, honor and grace as you continue to lie about me as you can't handle the truth thus you are a pacient on life support due to being faced by reality.

There is no pride when being ashamed of who you are.

There is no principle when in denial.

There is no honor in lying.

Thus there is no grace nor respect.

Of course he is not!!!

The south Africans are overly ashamed being the only country that's obsessed with Nigeria, having been the only country left here in an endless debate for years.

So they usually create a fake moniker seemingly from another country to score cheap point.

Notice how the moniker deliberately announce Its origin by making his moniker same with his country.

That's a clear sign of intent .
That is what you to believe... You're only deceiveing youself.

And thanks for ignoring Henry.

You are Patches the South African.

That is what you want to believe and keep ignoring Henry.

No sensible Croatian citizen in Europe will wake up every morning to waste his life defending a South Africa be does not have any blood link with, and keep on attacking Nigeria violently and relentlessly as if he has no job.

I don't have a job.

I didn't wake up in the morning... I prefer being wake up at night due to peace and less people are stressing net infrastructure thus faster response time(lower latency).

Yes, I am "attacking" Nigeria and "defending" South Africa with truth/facts.

What will a white man in Europe gain from dying for South Africa on Nairaland, Jacob Zuma paid him one million dollars for internet support?

If that was the case, then I would be in Japan or South Korea and do some pumping.

Anyone you fool with your stolen identity should go back to primary school.

Yet I posted the news I saw on this forum about Denel's sale of turrets on defence.pk while you act like patient on life-support.

JF-17 thunder block 1 has everything the gripen have. The only advantage Gripen has over JF-17 is lower RCS and radar.

I must correct you as you missed a lot details, no offense.

JF-17 Block 1 lacks aerial refueling probe, data link, electronic warfare capabilities and lacks two seater variant for training.

Gripen has 7.5 to 10% higher engine output which with its up to date canard design result in over 20% greater speed.

JF-17 airframe can handle 4000 flight hours compared 8000 hours of Gripens airframe which is composite which can handle greater positive and negative G-force.

we don't have fact on the radar That comes with block 2 yet. Data available for now is for block 1, but if you have proof let's have it.

Block 2 radar higher performace variant of radar used in Block 1.

Block 2 lacks composite airframe, two seat variant for training and uses same engine.

South Africa defence force can't overrun Nigeria forces. It's not just possible.

Nigerian army is in most areas decades behind in tech and have much less armored vehicles...

With what resources?

They have far more armored vehicles and are technologically decades ahead in most areas...

How many regular soldier do they even have?

Over 80000...

And how many of them are full combatants with regular drills.

That I don't know.

Can't a Croatian tell us how they will overrun the Nigerian military?

I already explained some aspects of it in this thread...

Extensive explanation:

Nigerian MIG-21's are defenceless against Gripen like Serbian MIG-21's against NATO's F-16's. Pilots would not know what hit them or constantly hear warning alarm that you're locked on and as good as dead.

SAAF Hawk 120's have A-darter thus are good enough to engage your MIG-21's and survive.

Nigeria does not have attack helicopters for seek & destroy, fire support and scouting while SAAF has Rooivalk which can also fly high enough to be out of reach of infrantry anti-air missile launchers that Nigeria has.

SAA can go literally zerg rush on Nigerian T-55's with hundreds of Ratel 90's and Rooikat 105's while T-72's will be out numbered 4 to 1 by Olifant 1B and Mk2.

SANDF G5, G6's and MRLS's outmatch Nigerian 155's by huge margin and placed strategically all over Nigeria would result in that SANDF would be able to hit any spot in Nigeria with South African MALE UAV's lurk 24/7 around Nigeria for prey.

Any shipment of military suplies by sea will be captured or destroyed by SAN submarine's which will dominate sea since Nigerian ASW helicopters are in unusable state.

SANDF has Gripen C/D so they can do aerial refueling, all they need is large fleet of beach landing ships and a helicopter carrier.

what wont hinder this project from becoming another Denel Rooivalk, which to this day hasn't being exported ?
There was one country that was interested in Rooivalk, but wanted it to be tested in combat.

Performance against M23 has proven that Rooivalk is combat worthy thus countries have expressed interest, if Denel manages to get enough orders to achieve mass production thus they can lower prices then many countries will be interested to buy it.

most portable ATGM have a range between 5,000-10,000 ,GI-30 has a maximum range of 4,000
...and?

Infrantry ATGM's are stationary, based on line of sight and single missile and you expect vehicle to stand still?

APC will move, use tree, bushes, rocks, etc for cover and when it is close it will fire dozen's of shots at the ATGM site.

Well you didn't check the link... -_-

CAMGUN GI-30 can fire a bullet in close breach position, more accurate and used for sniping thus it could snipe of infrantry man that carries communication equipment or ATGM or neutralize engine or drive of the vehicle...

Lets say you have a dozen of these... It will be massacre for infrantry, deadly for vehicles and tanks could be neutralized by shooting of range finder, camera's and make it blind and useless except if the crew chooses to take a risk and peak their head to be blown by one of those cannons in sniper mode.

I haven't heard of any auto-cannon that is capable of that... I know many dual feed and such.

Henry240:
The SAAF cannot afford a software upgrade because they do not have the resources to do so. The JF-17 is better than SAAF Gripens, this is a fact we've gone over on multiple occasions.

"As specific examples, the report cited a lack of proper
ammunition, ageing military transport planes and "block
obsolescence" of the army's prime mission equipment, such
as infantry trucks.

The required ammunition stock for the national reserve is
supposed to supply an army mechanized brigade for 90
days in a mixture of high, medium and low intensity
operations, but current ammunition levels can "by no
means" support this level.
"

This is the military that would overrun the Nigerian military, are you high?

"the report also said a lack of funding was
preventing modernization of the 97,000-strong armed
forces, including regulars, reserves and civilian staff.
"

The point has apparently been reached where the SA Air Force (SAAF) is aware it cannot fulfill its defence obligations and the airborne arm of the SANDF has turned to pilots flying for the national carrier, SAA, for assistance.
The Afrikaans Sunday paper Rapport said it has a copy of a memorandum sent to South African Airways (SAA) pilots last week. It asks them to help out as reserve pilots at a “few SAAF squadrons”. The paper points out the “emergency call” came in the same week the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) informed Parliament it could not depend on the air force in the event of a major shipping disaster, such as the Oceanos sinking in 1991.

You should instead be advising the South-African military you seem to love so much.
You want to believe that which is aided by the fact that you are uninformed...

How can't SAAF not afford upgrading the software? Again, learn the difference between software and hardware.

JF-17 can't be better than Gripen... Nigeria is going to get JF-17 Block 2 which is in production while JF-17 Block 3 will be competitive to Gripen and even equal if it uses French engine from Snecma M53-P2, but JF-17 Block 3 is expected in production in 2019.

You're high if you don't believe that SANDF can't overrun Nigerian army, what you posted only indicates that SANDF doesn't have resources for the occupation in case of resistance and that SANDF has enough resources to: Veni, vidi, vici ...

I'm telling you that the SAAF is broke, yet continue in your mindless tirade. How's the SAAF going to afford to carry out an upgrade, if the force is completely broke and cannot train it's pilots?

"That the airborne arm of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has its personnel problems, particularly in high-level skills sectors such as pilots, navigators and aircraft technicians, is common knowledge. It was again raised, albeit briefly, by defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula at AFB Waterkloof two weeks ago.

CAPE TOWN (Reuters) - South Africa's cash-strapped armed
forces are in a "critical state of decline" that will take at least
a decade to fix even with urgent action, according to a
military strategy review seen by Reuters.
It said "neglect" of defense capability could impact
everything from border security to trade and constrain
Pretoria's continental peace-keeping and diplomatic
ambitions.

Stop posting trash.
I am apparently retarrded and I am posting trash according to you... No, I haven't and you have done it and now you're unsatisfied with factual response. How SAAF can't upgrade Gripen's when they can because it is software not hardware upgrade, learn the difference between software and hardware then claim if they can or can not. JF-17 is comparable to South Korean FA-50 in price and performance.

I have proved many people like you on defence.pk wrong and they shut up after that... It seems its different on african forums where people are sore losers, actually it reminds me how you nigerians and south africans harass each other like pakistanis and indians on defence.pk which is pathetic and so what that South African National Defense Force is on life-support, if there was ever a war then massive funds would have been poured and their defense industry would be kickstarted and producing weaponry like Soviet Union did during World War 2.

If Nigeria and South Africa went head to head now... SANDF would overrun you with divisons upon divisions armored vehicles and having total air superiority. South African trainer jets Hawk 120 have same if not longer range air to air missiles then your outdated chinese Mig-21 bootlegs.

Stop with the wet dreams of Nigeria being continental power in near future.

South Africa has submarines while your anti submarine warfare helicopters are in storage or can't work.

First invest in maintaining your vehicles or at least make decent storage facilities.

If you were like pakistanis, you would be preserving and maintaining your army as if its the gold or oil...

SAAF Gripens have no radar upgrade.

Upgrade of radar's back-end/processing will be available in 2017.

Saab released in 2015 software upgrade for Mark 3 used in C/D which improves performance up to 80%.

SAAF cannot afford BVRAAM, same way the force cannot afford the Mokopa or train more than 9 pilots.

South Africa isn't threatened by anyone and money can be spent else where is more needed.

JF-17s would shot down SAAF Gripens everytime.

No, there are a few reasons...

Gripen C/D radar range with latest software upgrade is 215-220 kilometers compared to radar range of JF-17 which is 150 kilometers and Gripen C/D maximum missile range is 160 kilometers with AIM-120D which is implemented.

You're basically saying that an South Korean FA-50 will shot down an F-16 everytime.

Badger/Patria AMV is one of most modern APC in the world and its after all nicknamed The Green Demon by the Taliban.

It has more protection than Rooikat.

Technically, Badger could pack a 120 mm NATO cannon since it has considerably tougher structure than Rooikat.

Amphibious ability isnt relevant in todays warfare with UAVs lurking to spoil potential leverage.

Ingwe ATGM penetrate composite armour Abrams tank? You cräzy?

He did not mention Abrams yet since you mention it...

Ingwe can penetrate Abrams and no tank in this world has 1000 mm HEAT protection on top/roof of the turret.

T-72 with Kontak ERA amour is not penetrable by even the nrw tandem warhead ATGMs, talk less of the old Ingwe that will probably miss target like Mokopa.

Ukranian Nozh is better against tandem warhead, but you don't have T-84 also keep low balling.

Nigerian army has 52 Palmaria artillery with 155mm gun having dual purpose, it has both direct and indirect fire mode and range 24 km, then has target image high powered magnification sights. Any Ratel with 5 km range Ingwe will be demolished 7 km away by Nigerian Palmaria in direct fire mode.

South Africa has G6 which also produces, it has range of 45 km and with special round up to 75 km.

Infantry can scout and designate with laser your medium ranged 155's, Rooivalk can fire Mokopa and it is out of range of MANPADS that Nigeria has since even if you were directly below Rooivalk that is capable to reach 6 km in air while your MANPADS 5 km.

jln115:
I agree with 99% of your post, but just one correction, the Ingwe can penetrate 1000mm of RHA even after a single layer of reactive armour, which in other words means it can basically penetrate any Tank on the planet.
That is always a possibility, but don't assume it is going to happen every single time...

Only edge that Nigeria has over South Africa is T-72 if there was strictly tank to tank battle...

I need to correct myself, I though South Africa had A/B Gripens. They have C/D and with radar upgrade in 2017, it will allow to use Meteor BVRAAM which has range of 300 kilometers and JF-17's is no match after radar upgrade...

Ratel is obsolete 1980s tech and design
Ratel is being partialy replaced by Patria AMV which is feared by the taliban and has a nickname "The Green Demon" since RPG's and IED's are basically useless against it.

I'l be honest. I don't understand hate or is it rivarly between you Nigerians and South African's, only thing I could find is that some Nigerians are coming to South Africa and illegally living there... Is there more historically? Something to do with Mandela?(Edit: Looked more into it, xenophobic attacks... Geez... Blaming other people for own problems...)

Anyway, you're underestimating Ratel due to being "old tech and design" while since late 1980's it packs a high-velocity 90 mm rifled cannon or ZT-3 Ingwe. Ratel 90's and ZT-3 Ingwe's destroyed T-55's in Angola in 1980's and consider this that South Africa has far more Ratel 90's and Rooikat 105's than Nigeria has T-55's. WhileRatel 90's will be an ant compared to T-72 which Nigerian Army has in service while Rooikat 105's have enough firepower to be a threat to T-72 even when confronted on front.

If Nigerian T-72 doesn't have ERA on its armor then Ratel ZT-3 will kill with only one missile and if Nigerian T-72 has ERA which absorbs atleast 800 mm RHA penetration then Ratel ZT-3's won't be able to destroy it with single missile also if T-72 is equiped with ERA that can absorb even 1300 RHA penetration then even mighty Hellfire missile won't able to one shot it since T-72 frontal armor is comparable to 350 RHA + ERA absortion of roughly 1300 RHA.

Yes, that is possible. The minister only awaits approval, that's why she told the parliament to their face that you leave me with no choice. I will continue sending them to other parts of the world because when I request money to buy necessary assets, you make noise. I think now they have head, particularly EFF. What is now left is for EFF to be convinced that aircrafts which are already in the museum cannot be recovered as they are already resting on their grave. I am pleased that minister managed to sway them and now they can see that indeed there is a pressing need. Is now time for Airbus and many companies to start flocking once again in Pretoria. The fat cheque is on the way.

With regard to Rooivalk, if Sweden or France can come in with the possible exchange of TOT of their fighters, that will indeed be a killer blow that will help stimulate the economy of SA.
French won't be interested in Rooivalk since they are producing Eurocopter Tiger. French will sell you tech if the price is right, a-darter for rafale and mokopa for tiger. TOT for Rooivalk independence, replace airbus parts with french without strings attached.

Swedes on other hand would love to produce fully domestically to save the cash, Rooivalk needs to be adapted to artic like conditions. You only need to get rid off US parts. Brazil can help with that and they are interested in Rooivalk.

To pull it off you would need to be very careful in political manuvering and I would reccomending ditching Russia and China because there is no real benefit long term.

What an excellent speech by the minister. She is using a strategy to convince the opposition that new assets are needed. The problem is that when SAAF wants to buy new planes, the opposition always opposed it by asserting that it was wasteful expenditure. Now, she is using a clever strategy that "since you do not want government to buy new aircrafts, then we will continue sending our pupil pilots to Russia and Cuba to get their wings". In this case the opposition will have no choice but to go with the flow and allow the government to buy new aircrafts, I mean brand new aircrafts. The aircrafts she is referring to are those that were used by old apartheid air force and now are in the museum because they were actioned to the public by apartheid government. They can never be recovered because they are old and belong to the museum. Soon, opposition will give in and SAAF will announce a new arms deal of procuring new aircrafts. Among them will be maritime, transporters, etc. The mission has just began. Good luck Madam Minister by putting it straight on their face that you cannot complain about pupil pilots being sent to other countries while you always oppose Air Force from going shopping. They will just have to give the minister a fat cheque to go on shopping and bring us brand new assets and not hand outs. They will just have to allow among others for the new Rooivalks, transporters, Maritime aircrafts, etc.
She should offer transfer of technology of Rooivalk to Sweden in exchange for Gripen's and Swedish goverment would be all over that.

The french will gladly license/tot of their tech with right price, Dassault Rafale engine.
