safarigirl: I think it's a bit late to be adding players to this team. Give or take a few people, I believe we have 85% a team to take to Russia.
Our defense seems sorted, I know lots of people have complained of Echiejile, but I think he's Russia-bound anyway, last last, he'll be used as a sub in his position cuz we don't have a lot of options in that position that can be slotted into the team in less than a year and the coach won't be trying out new players in the next game.
The midfield is 70% sorted, we have our starters there, the bench will most likely be shuffled, but I tip John Ogu and Etebo to survive any such shufflings, the rest are hanging on a thin thread
Our attack seems the one area that could have lots of additions before anything is sold. For now, only V Moses and Kelechi are really sure barring injuries, on the back of his last performance, you could say Ighalo
Then of course, there's our GK department where no one is really sure of going to Russia.
At least thirteen of the twenty-three players going to Russia were invited for the games against Cameroon, so, only about 8 spaces are undecided.
So, here is my list of fifteen sure guys to Russia barring injuries starting from the most important
Victor Moses Mikel Obi Leon Balogun Troost-Ekong Wilfred Ndidi Ogenyi Onazi Kelechi Iheanacho Alex Iwobi Shehu Abdullahi John Ogu Ola Aina (if e no f up) Elderson Echiejile Oghenekaro Etebo Moses Simon Chidozie Awaziem
Ighalo may go, but Ighalo too dey do like NEPA
No goalies are sure....only sure thing is Carl Ikeme will unfortunately not make it from this list I doubt if shehu will Make the list |

blueto: Let us pray and commit this match into the hand of God!
Father, the most high God, the God of ineffable grandeur, we worship and laud you for your immeasurable and everlasting love and mercies upon our lives. Even right before we were formed in our mothers womb, you already knew us and ordained us. What a breathtaking God you are!
Father, we commit this match into your hands, and we pray for your favour upon the Super Eagles. Father we rely on you for our victory in this encounter, yes wholly on you! not even our tactics, strategies and efforts. Although we have our game plans, strategies and efforts but your word said “trust in the Lord and lean not unto thy own understanding.” It was not the stones that David used in the battle against Goliath that killed him, it was your grace! Apostle Paul said he “planted” and another “watered” but you are the one that gave “increase.” Father, we declare that no tactics or strategies fashioned against us shall not prosper, for our righteousness is from you! Instead they will all work together for our good as said in your word because you said that you will “watch over your words to perform them.”
Father take absolute control and let everything that will happen in and outside the pitch give you glory and let them go as how you plan it. We pray that the stadium be filled with your success yielding presence.
Father we thank you for prayers answered in Jesus name we pray, Amen! Amen |

This thread is getting nasty day by day I see no reason why anyone should support any player based on tribal sentiments. Have we all forgotten the purpose of this thread is it not to support SE with our ideas and knowledge to ensure they are a better team. But now I see every body picking fights and arguing over some certain players. if the player you want is not invited you are not the coach Rohr knows the kind of players he needs for every game that's why he called up those he invited. Have seen several occasions where players who were clamoured for in this thread are later invited. Am pleading with you all to exercise patience. Please any post that does not positively contribute to the development of the SE should be removed. Tribalism and sentiments should not be allowed. No player should be favoured here. Arguments should not be based on sentiments, tribalism, or favouritism. Constructive criticism should be allowed but that does not mean we should fight or argue over any player or coach. Furthermore, I honestly think that Cameroon is overrated on this thread. You talk of Cameroon as if you are talking about Germany. I believe we would easily secure a win in uyo then maybe secure a draw away. Because looking it their team they don't have better players than we do I don't think any of their wingers is as skilful as Victor Moses or as pacy as Ahmed musa. We have better midfielders like Mikel obi,Ndidi and Etebo. The likes of Leon balogun, troost ekong,John ogu, and others can match them in physicality so I see no cause for alarm Victory all the way. |

Am disappointed some people are calling for the exclusion of Ahmed musa in the squad list just because he's currently not playing regularly for Leicester city this season. He's a compatriot a player who gives his best when playing for Nigeria. Your club form doesn't affect how you play for your national team take Mikel last season for exactly. |

Joebie: Exclusive : Lille Outcast Enyeama Will Return To Super Eagles – Rohr Reveals August 15, 201708
Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has sensationally confirmed the return of former Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to the team as soon as he regains full fitness.
Rohr confirmed he has a near perfect relationship with the goalkeeper who is currently not in the good books of new coach of French Ligue 1 side Lille Marcelo Bielsa, who axed him from the first team.
The Franco-German coach of the Super Eagles in an exclusive chat with Owngoalnigeria.com revealed, once Enyeama returns to full fitness and also sort out the issues of finding a new club, he is confident he will return to the team.
“The true position is that I have a good relationship with Enyeama and he has a problem with the Federation (NFF) before I came on board as coach, and when I called him and he said there’s a problem with the Federation, I cannot come at the moment” Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com
“I tried to call him again and now I call him again, he asked to take some leave for his injury. I think the situation is a little bit different, some players who don’t want to play for their national team can change their mind.
“But unfortunately the injury of Vincent means he cannot come for this game against Cameroon, not only that he also has to find another club because his club bought two other goalkeepers.
“So he cannot play at the moment at his club, he must be fit first and also find another club then hopefully he will be motivated to come back to the national team”, Rohr said.

-OwnGoalNigeria I pray this doesn't happens it might create Mafia among the players because enyeama will want to return as captain I don't think we need him anymore |

For a player who grew through the Real Madrid and Spanish Junior National team system, I believe the young man deserves a look in. Especially with some of his friends gaining spotlight in recent years. The likes of Asensio and Morata.
Let us see as it goes with Rohr. I tire oo a player who played through the ranks in Madrid regular starter for Bolton willing and ready to play and with the way our back line is wat else do we need |

I have seen Ilori regularly for about 3 seasons playing academy football and U23.
I have talked to the Portuguese Liverpool scout that recommended him.
And we all agreed he found the tempo and physicalilty of the EPL way too much after showing so much promise at Sporting as a teenager playing first team football.
After three years at Liverpool his loan moves amounted to nothing he was overtaken by boys of 17/18. Finally sold off to Reading as surplus to requirements in reality a big mistake in January to Reading FC to date he has played only 5 games.
My view he is not good enough, consider how many games Dominic Iorfa has played 89 for Wolves and he Ilori is nowhere near him. Nedum is a veteran if he had grown up in Nigeria his football age would be 25 LOL.
Right back slot currently right now Ola Aina is the best we have watched him since he was 15/16 true quality only player in his way is Victor Moses after all it is Chelsea. that's wat Nigeria needs right now an experienced defender who can issue instructions to the young ones and prevent errors just like Joseph yobo used to do |

ChrisKels: Go home, u are drunk.
U Contradicted ur academy claim with Akanji suggestion (though he's been capped by the swiss)
Tiago Ilori? Are you for real? Do u even know how he has been faring ever since he left Sporting? Another academy player(at Liverpool) and now a bench warmer at Reading in the Championship.
Nedum Onuoha? Experienced CB? What international football experience does Nedum have? BTW, have u ever seen Nedum suited up as a CB? Nedum is average at best and his position is RB. Nedum isn't as good as what we already have, besides he ditched us when he was a bit above average, I would rather we brought back Ambrose than give Nedum a call up, lest for remain patient till Aina's case is sorted out. We also have Nura in the pipeline.
Ligali if throughly he is a Nigerian, check
Ideye the hustler, check
Aluko, check
Ajagun? I would go for Azu Okechukwu instead. u call a regular player for Basel an academy player?? if he isn't good will the swiss cap him No matter where he is playing right now thiago ilori is a good right back.BTW mind you this is national football so club form doesn't necessarily matter abi ihenancho, musa, iwobi too no dey chop bench The squad that won the 2002 euros for Greece was full of bench warmers. I wouldn't argue for onuoha all I know is that he is the most experienced defender of Nigerian descent who plays in England the dude no dey chop bench sef. |

TheGoodJoe: An Iwobi in front of the defensive midfield earlier would have created better chances than Etebo, Onazi and Ndidi. Ndidi or Mikel Agu sitting deep in midfield would have provided better shielding.
Echiejile playing in a disciplined/defence first fashion would have reduced the gaps in the left side of our defence.
That is why I feel we had enough quality to execute the game. With better arrangement we would go far. didn't u notice d wastefulness of our striker, the wastefulness of moses simon, aimless runs by musa, poor goalkeeping by akpeyi, lack of control and understanding in our defense?? |
