I still believe in the following conspiracy theories; 1) The recent falani herdsmen attacks is perpetuated by Boko haram in disguise. 2) The south east or south south, are framing up this act to destabilize the present administration (note, I am not political incline, and I don't care who is in power, but nothing is impossible). 3) The herders developed confidence more than ever to wage war against other region in other to islamize, and dominate (the falanis are nomad who migrate into north east in the 1808 to propagate islam religion. Leads by Usmal Danfodio) The government needs to be swift in its responsible if it doesn't want civil war which is looming to break and shatter us all. May God save us. |
And am yet to see the utilization of the stolen funds so far recovered and how its will be use to sustain and redirect the nation economy. If those people ain't doing their jobs, remove them before they sabotage your government. |
Should this be in politic section? Mod, do the needful. |
The season for public revolt is almost dawn. Hunger is one of the worst disaster that can befall a nation, we have started crying, it will turn violence soon. The black nation can never grow when our destiny is being sold and tied to 1cup of rice by our fore-fathers and now our fathers who never learn that an average politician is their to loot and milk the treasury dry. We only cry foal after and claim ignorant. I hate to be born here. |
You all can't rant for as long as you have the time, but seceding of various tribes is long over due and am afraid it won't happen without civil war which is looming. I hate this marriage, so much hate being propagated for nothing. |
Too long a story. Writers need to learn how not to bore their readers with long epistle. |
I currently teach in a private school, the issue of religion merging had been in operation since 2014 as part of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) curriculum restructure and it has nothing to do with children of one religion being taught the contents of another religion. We really have to be patience and careful about news being churn out recently on social media, most of them are stall and unconnected to the message/topic they are captions with. There are just news to create controversies, destructions, argument and promote hatred within the society. I wonder how the merging of subjects in syllabus that have been in operation since 2014 is connected to Buari and islamization of Nigeria. How does religion and national values (RVN) translate to indoctrinate children who practice different religion another one when teachers are provided for the two religions and they stick to their content. Information is powerful and vital, it is pertinent to obtain relevant information before inciting hateful comments. I am disappointed and dishearten with Nigerians. You can ask for a copy of the syllabus from the school your child attend, it will be provided and u will be enlighten if you have questions. |
OGUNTOYINBO IBRAHIM CR In his nature, man was made to dominate leads and protect and in his quest to achieve this natural endowment and desire to hold power, he goes extra miles to accumulate resources which included wealth and knowledge and accrued himself recognition among other types of his specie, tribes, ethnic and race. Hence, this explained the insatiable desire of man to amass wealth even to the detriment of others and such is the case of Nigeria Politicians who became twin’s brother to corruption and now dragging the watch dog along. It was sometimes argued that the types of system of government dictate how easy or hard public officers can loot away the treasure of a nation. Like most other nation of the world in which Nigeria is not an exception, the government is decentralized to get the qualities and benefits of governance closer to the people. Although, the country is centralized and federalized in its nature, but the operation of the various government; federal, state and local are organized in such a way to bring about getting participatory governance to the grassroots. Hence, the activities of the executives at the helms of power is constantly being check balanced by the legislative arms of the government which is saddled to make law that the former is meant to implement. However, the third arm which is the Judiciary was meant to interpret and not just interpret but see to the effectiveness of her pronouncement; prosecution or persecution on cases that does not aligned with the constitution (laws of the land). But there still exist a dog that is meant to hunt and make them all accountable and responsible. Government consciously keeps its business private and the media tries as much as it can to expose when it sensed any form of irregularities, this is the basis for the agitation and actualization of freedom of information act; a bill which was signed into law in May 28, 2011 by former president Goodluck Jonathan. Just like a fairy tale, the hunter soon became the hunted as the media found itself entangled and implicated in one of the most controversial corrupt cases in Nigeria history. The mass media emerged in the country over 4 decades ago and celebrated as the fourth estate of the realm because of its technicality in reporting news events; scaling the risk associated with investigative journalism, and its ability to protect its image as truthful, unbiased and balanced. These rigmaroles had recently been tarnished with the involvement of some of the most popular and widely read/watched Media in the DASUKIGATE, a controversial arms deal fund to purchase arms tools for the Nigeria Army which was re-looted from Abarcha recovery looted fund. The implication of the media in the arms deal looted fund started from the CEO of Daar Communication, Ramond Dopesi who was accused to have received N2.1billion fund from Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser. As reported by Mail and guardian Africa on December 15th, 2015. “Dokpesi, the founder of the country’s first private radio and television station, is facing fraud and money laundering charges. The head of Raypower FM and Africa Independent Television (AIT), was brought before a federal high court in Abuja on six charges of corruption. He pleaded not guilty to the charges of collecting 2.1 billion naira ($10.5 million, 9.6 million euros) from Dasuki. The charges allege that between October 2014 and March 2015 Dokpesi, who is chairman of Daar Communications, “conducted procurement fraud by means of fraudulent and corrupt act”. The money was to provide publicity to the then-president Jonathan’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party.(PDP), judge Gabriel Kolawole granted him bail setting it at 200 million naira ($1 million) and on condition that he surrenders his passport. But that is not the end to the media indictment. On December 13, 2015, the Premium Times published that “The Nigerian Guild of Editors on Sunday called for a thorough investigation of media executives alleged to have received billions from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. This was contained in a communiqué issued at the group’s fourth quarterly standing committee meeting in Abuja. The communiqué was signed by NGE’s President, Garba Deen Mohammad and Secretary General, Victoria Ibanga”. I guessed the Guild of Editors were not aware as at the time that more than half of the media houses in the country are involved. In a bid to save its face, on December 20th, 2015, The Sun Newspaper published a press released which was replicated in major media headlining, Dasukigate: ”The Sun Newspaper returns N9million naira it got from ex-NSA, Dasuki”. According to the Sun Newspaper dated Sunday, 20, December, 2015. “The management of The Sun newspaper issued a statement to announce its return of N9million it received from the office of the National Security Adviser “as compensation for the seizure of its newspapers and stoppage of circulation during the Good luck Jonathan administration in June 2014.” The newspaper organization claimed that the reasons is returning the fund is to protect its corporate integrity and in the deference to public outcry against the case, hence, it returning the 9million received from the Presidency through the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) as compensation for the seizure of its newspapers and stoppage of circulation during the Goodluck Jonathan administration in June. In a similar publication by The Sun, its claims more newspaper organizations were given compensation fund which was received from the Presidency and distributed through the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), however, some of the major Newspapers distance itself from such allegation. Most citizens, including I myself who is a firm agitator against the infiltration of the media by public office holders through the brown envelope syndrome and the media proprietors influences in dictating the media activities will keep advocating for entire separation of the romance between the media and political office holders in other to retain the past glory of the mass media as laid by its founding fathers. Till then, the country keeps watch of what will become of the media and Political romance in the face of corruption. |

The following event you are about to read is fictitious, however, it will be correct to say it happen within the subconscious of an individual between the hours before dawn. What you belief in, is no business of mine. The atmosphere is tense, deep within me; I feel fear, panic and heart broken. Walking tenderly beneath the surface of the earth, at first, the floor seems solid, like in a trance; this is no longer the surface of the earth. Where I am has no other place like it in the world of human. The surface I walk is soft, tender, delicate and most dangerous ground I have ever plied. Every foot I laid left a hole in the ground, and I could see, visibly that there is something scary and unimaginable beneath, should anyone fall, that might be the end or be, being casted into the fiercest part of hell. I think I saw my brother as I walk, I remember he was very close to mother and in this past years of distress and agony, he had really been there. Tried when he could and seek help when he can’t. He gave me a direction of exactly where I could find mother, then I follow the path as was told. The road to heaven or hell is slippery. As I tread flat slippery stairs above, my heart was in my mouth, the fear has no comparison to the one human feels. I walk along with some familiar strangers, every step we took is very precious and risky, because we can’t afford to slip, if we do, we know not what next. Safely with grace, we got to the top. I saw mother happy to see us or would it be better to say she was happy to see the little boy we brought along. Funny enough, I don’t know him, but if he makes mother happy, I am happy too. I stare into her face, scrutinising the mark of sickness, although, there is a much difference from the time before she left to this world beyond, but the agony and excruciating pains she went through on the hospital bed, fighting the battle to live and the mark of the oxygen still appear visibly on her nose and I observed that she is not completely happy being far away from home, but give thanks, she could find a place in paradise, the real home. I left her court to explore her surrounding; I want to see how my mother has been fairing beyond her soul. My eyes wandered to a wonder land almost strata beneath where I stood; It beautiful, a magnificent sight to behold. Dreams are the most mysterious means of God’s ways of communication to human, but most times, we have to decide if it foolish, comical or scary. No matter your conclusion, don’t completely discard your dreams, because there might just be a tiny message for you. |

BY FABIAN TARPAEL, ABUJA President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the establishment of 12 community radio station in the country in order to create effective platform for reaching the rural dwellers. This is coming as the Federal Government is considering pushing forward the June 17, 2015 deadline set by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for a global switchover of television signals from analogue to digital transmission. Mr. Emeka Mba, director general of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) who made this known on Wednesday in Abuja, said President Jonathan approved two community radio stations to be established in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country. Mba, disclosed that the commission was working with the Community Radio Coalition that will be visiting the NBC with the representatives of the licensed stations in order to give them deep understanding of the roles of a community radio. The NBC boss, however, said Nigeria would be unable to meet up with the deadline for digital switchover of the broadcast stations next month as a result of Lack of funds to execute the transition process. The Federal Government has failed to release the N60 billion, long earmarked as the cost of the Digital Switchover (DSO) process in the country, with the director general saying the commission had been operating on zero-budget allocation to DSO.

everyone is individually responsible for his/her acton, I think Apc have made that clear by disassociating themselves from that statement. although, some yoruba are livid over the way Igbos in lagos tribalistically blinded by voting for PGEJ, or we can't denied that their massive voting for him is not based on tribe preference when most Nigerians voted politically oriented by evaluating his tenure for the past 6years and his party 16years maintaining power. the Oba only went too far and is liable to be sue under the constitution without no privileges. and igbos should not be delusional that Lagos is a universal state, if their are not careful, they will be flush out from south west as most of them from personal encounter are ethnic and tribalistic unrepentance because they always preferred their kings men eventhough it go against the national interest, this quality of theirs threaten other co- habiting tribes, ethnics in itself. |

Editorial Before I start to pen my reserved, I will like to congratulate General Muhammed Buhari for emerging the winner of the just conclude2015 presidential election. Also I wish to appraise the incumbent president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for conceding defeat even before the process was concluded, an act which is a factor assumed to have averted post-election violence and lastly, I will like to congratulate Nigerians for standing guide against the poll to ensure every vote count despite the odd and obvious limitation to deprive majority their franchise by the failure card readers in some places, the call of nature (rain mostly in part of south west), and the massive rigging in some region of the country. However, now that Nigerians have decided and elected a new president, much expectation awaits to be fulfilled with the present administration having less than 2 months to pack its load from Aso Rock (the government house of Nigeria president). The reshuffle and inauguration of the newly elected and re-elected 109 senators which will have only 8 females in its sittings of which 60 are elected on APC platform and 49 on PDP platform. One might start seeing the transition of power from a party which uses to be the strongest opposition to a leading political party that will at least led and rule for the next four years. Now to pen my reserved is to juxtapose the activities of the outgoing administration and to look at the manifestos of the incoming administration in order to determine the face and fate of what will be in the education sector. We can count the number of times ASUU and ASUP went on indefinite strike with their issues not being fully resolved till date, but we cannot count the numbers of dropped out and Nigeria children being deprived right to be educated. Buhari might have been conscious of the persistent industrial action trending in the sector, which is why he pledge to fund and revived the educational sector, but the question remains; can he salvage the crippled infrastructure in the universities, polytechnics and colleges of education? Where would his intervention begin to resuscitate the dead human capacity and human capital in sustaining the education sector by bring it back and beyond its past glorious days? How do we have to revamp the syllabus or nomenclature that seems outdated and when do we start producing products that will be of benefit in the labour market, industrial and technology revolution that started more than decades, but yet, we are stagnate, A failure on every one of us to move forward and a big failure on the government to initiate the push by creating enabling environment. The educated actors cannot be exonerated for contributing to the fall in quality and quantity of education standard. The expectation of students who also made up 60% of the youth population are looking forward to the impact both the incoming administration and the senate to be will play in revamping the sector drastically by not only formulating policies to enhance learning and development, but also funding all sphere of education within a very short period of time. This might be a means for Buhari’ led administration to gain credibility if his promises are executed and it might be the beginning of his failure considering the support the youth accorded him through the social media which they dominated. The same social media could be used as a mechanism to see to his fall should he fail to meet up with expectation. Education sector have suffered major setback, many years past with every administration promising sanctity to rescue the Nigeria education system, but up to no avail. One hope the incoming government will fulfill the change it preaches by utilizing the available time to put smile on the faces of the privilege few and the underprivileged who could be build to move the nation forward in terms of human capital and capacity. |
Few month ago, during a journalistic course of compiling an article for one of the major publication on campus, I stumble over an article written by one of my most admire and respected classmate which was title ”politrikin the politician”. This article x-tray the electoral malpractice of politician and the agitation of the electorate towards the dividend of democracy while laying emphases on the anticipation of free and fair 2015 general election. The article cited above was one of the pre-election cautions to the heat and tension circulating across the country, however, it is worth to note that the fear of the writer is being witness in River state as election turn into a situation where eligible citizens are denied their franchise to perform their civil responsibility which is being denied them by INEC officials who refused to release the result sheet (one of the sensitive document) to the electorate with a claim by the INEC officials that they have no obligation to show the result sheet. In what could be seen as a monumental rape on the democratic system of Nigeria. The Rivers state voters protested against irregularity, where it could also be witnessed that election did not take place in River state, not in any ward or units, yet results are being collated at the INEC state center. The heat which started generating when the Governor of the state, Rotim Amachi declined to be accredited because the INEC officials couldn’t provide the result sheet as demanded by him. This heat spread to other areas of the state, while voters later reconvened at the gate of INEC state secretariat chanting “we must vote” while being guided by the Joint Task Force personnel. In the midst of this brouhaha, the All Progressive Congress (APC) representative wrote a petition and signed on the spot, then forwarded to the INEC representative in the building. this process was seen to have occurred twice, but despite their proactive measure not to allow the situation get out of hands and to remain calm, the INEC feedback mechanism is very poor, if not absent because there is no response from any quarter of the Independent Electoral Commission even as the protester show no signs of redrawing, in fact, it is apprehensive it might result to riot. The state electoral commissioner who is accused of being bought over by the People Democratic Party (PDP), she is said to have been deployed to River State for the main purpose of rigging or as it has been recently phrase by political analyst as “Human Errors”. Her actions was said to have been a microcosm replica of what she did in Delta State, while she counter reacted that she had experiences in the past election, a claim which was void by APC representative that she meant she has experiences from elections conducted within PDP zonal strong hold. It should be noted that the incumbent president, incumbent Governor of River State and his wife and many more political actors are all from the same state, which is a factor perceived to be responsible for the aggravated heat and tension in the region. #Nigeria-Decides# |
Champion01:unarguably, through post graduate which only universities have monopolized. That doesn't mean it can't be awarded in a polytecnic if they are given equally opportunity. Doctor Shola Adeosun is in the department of mass communication, Moshood Abiola Polytecnic, Prof Itiola also in the same school and almost all department have doctors or one professor. These people had their higher education first in polytecnic and testify that it mould them to be where they are today. You need to do alot of research and stop being myopic with a view consumed by hatred, because hatred is all i feel from your criticism. All these Doesn't really worth it you know?, you might as well put yourself in other people's shoes and know how it feel to be categorize as inferior. Although, adjustment is needed in polytecnics, government can as well scrap it or upgrade it and save us this shit. |
Base less argument keep eroding nigerian precious time to invest in more lucrative discussion. I wonder how many of the people condemn polytechnic have actually been to one as they claimed, you all know next to nothing, experiencing a situation is different from hearsay. Life seems to be more complex than your shallow minds. I am a poly undergraduate, proud to be one, had my IT in one of the best financial institution in Nigeria and I earn what I now use to further now. Although, I didn't enter poly by choice, but circumstance pushed me there, I am far from being an average student and even with you bsc I bet you can't stand a chance amidst my clique. Don't feel intimidated, those list are list of a shallow mind. Come to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and I assure you that you will find lecturers with doctorate degree (Phd) and the ones that have been saddle to acquire theirs, also, the rector is a professor and not the only professor in the school. Most successful professor today, including the ones I have been opportune to work with, claimed Polytechnic education laid the foundation for what they are. I rarely comment on post, because am more engage in more lucrative activities than the ops, things like this don't catch my attention, but I realised that a lot of people claiming to know what transpires in polytechnic knows next to nothing, besides, they claim to have been there, is either they are never there or can't excel there and advice to redraw. The last time I checked, I offer more difficult courses than my uni counterpart, well organised exams including CBT, and far higher school fee with a wide range of books (written by the polytechnic lecturers) to read from and acquire world class knowledge. Ops, no offence, but I most conclude that you know next to nothing, do a proper research and if possible, experience a polytechnic education. I wonder what the noise is all about? Leave everyone to chose what he/she thinks is best, I am responsible for my actions dear Thanks |
I believe it well, but people actually have to chose between serving God for real or ignoring the fact that he exist, instead of pretence. |
THOSE WHO MOCK GOD Oguntoyinbo Ibrahim crownbryan Indoctrination and fanaticism is a sin to free-thinkers, where indoctrination is an act forcing people to accept a set of beliefs or imbibe people with some sacred principle, fanaticism is the act of excessive enthusiasm for a belief, in most cases a fanatic of a religion can go any length to achieve his/her aim. People in this category are called extremist such as the dreaded Boko Haramist and the terrorist world wide, the christian counter part which preaches doom are not excluded. Often than not, majority of the people who attend churches sand mosques go there for favour, salvation and many other human aspect of spiritualism. In the act of going to this sacred places, majority of them mock the God they served. Truly, they have a belief ignited by societal way of life, but in the process, there is an aberration (deviating from what is normal) in the act of dealing within themselves and between individual and God. Worst case scenarios, religious leaders and some parents abetted their wards in the act of incontrovertible ridicule of God's name. An indefensible and indictting examples in the society today is when a thief (ives), is about to go for an operation, he pray for the successful denial of others their possession without being caught and when he is successful at an operation, he donate part to the church (in some cases), nexus case exist between blood money retualists who use human body part for the accumulation of wealth. As if the young ladies in the society are in manacles, enslaved to prostitution, claiming it for survival, sleeping with different men, some old enough to be their fathers,. Still this young ladies obtain the first seat at the front of the church and filled up the first row, their voices atop the choirs gospel, a parade of God's mockery, a shame to the society norms and tradition which keep marginalising our culture. The polithievery (politician), government at the realm of power are not left out of this mockery, after looting money, starching it away in a Swiss bank or their bedroom, a seemly internal exploitation, a crime to humanity and God, they drive to church or mosques to worship in mockery as if God is a fool forgetting that even the money won't be able to save them in time of crisis. Other categories of people harboured by the world are the thugs who live in flames everyday of their lives, smoking anything smokeable, marijuana, cannabis, indian hem, tobacco, e.t.c. The hire assassin, the gamblers, the players (womaniser), dupers, and many more often turn to church and mosques on sunday, friday for intermittent prayers for forgiveness while they go back to their sins. Prostitutes queue on the high ways, on street at night to market their body, while also patronised church on sunday to give thanks to God for the week and pray for success for the coming one. Am not in a position to justify who is right or wrong, but I do know that everyone have a pay day. If you will agree with me, life is the most contradicting and complex place to be. 24E2E752 |
