Johnwills: I'm using Auto Cad versions to judge. All types and versions of auto softwares can't run on processor less than i5. So I'm considering HP ENVY 15t Laptop(i7). But it comes with Blu-ray player which is a new hardware that don't support DVD. What do you think?
lol on Using Auto Cad as a benchmark for other softwares. I understand you're more familiar with AutoCAD. An i5 will handle PETREL well to the best of my knowledge. However, the higher the specs the better for you. There should be i7's with DVD support. Check HP's website and narrow down your search

Bear in mind that iCores are generally more expensive.

itoski: Please I need to install petrel software in my system...usin hp pavilion dm4..any1 in ph?
I doubt its free but check Eldemuz around CFC. You can Google them up for their address. They teach Petrel and the rest and will install for you if you're learning with them. If not, they could charge for only installation. Downloading those softwares is not that easy. A Pav dm4 is ok if you're cool with the screen size.

You can also hope to meet a kind brother here on this thread.

All the best.

Johnwills: what about processor and bit? Cos some processors can't even handle auto cad 2015. For instance, this specification--processors Dual core (AMD); Window 8; bit 32-- can't even run the above software not to talk of high end graphic softwares.
4gb ram.

64 bit. Though some softwares will run on a 32 bit depending on their specs.

At least 320gb HDD. not that it matters to the software but we just need more space these days.

A dual core should be ok. but if you can cop an i3, i5 or i7 then much better. I'm not really a fan of AMD's.

What's your budget?

Secondly, you registered on Nairaland barely two weeks ago and have posted 7 times, ALL on this thread. Go figure..... Only spies register on Nairaland because of just one thread.
Lastly, ur resentment at someone suggesting an alternative "more secure" medium of resource sharing convinces me beyond reasonable doubt that you are guilty as charged. Case closed!!!
Lool the bolded though...bros please define 'US' grin

EUGENE4GOO: @Lagtech, am sorry for saying it like this but the truth must be told. When will all these deals arrive naija? It is not posting deals for people to pay but sending it as of when due. You always delay shipping and that is what is affecting most of us.
Take this advise lag. Let some of these items be in Lagos before advertising. Shipping duration is killing us.

I am yet to receive mine.

CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by crudedude(m): 5:33pm On Sep 02, 2014
Syenite: Yes it is true that age limit is very important. However, in Oil and Gas it is NOTusually pegged to say 25, 26, 27 etc. What some do is just specify that applicant should have graduated not more than 5 yrs ago, some would say should have 0-3 yrs experience, some also still peg maximum age bt usually 27-30. So if you didn't graduate from school in good time u still stand a chance in d industry.Age was nt in my favour during my time. I got my first Oil industry job @27 (4 months after NYSC) and got my present job @29(I was still employed as a Trainee cos I still qualified age-wise).
Thanks. I have to keep pushing then.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: The Over-hyping Of First Class Honours In Nigeria by crudedude(m): 6:23pm On Sep 01, 2014
Gorimakpa: My dear you are still in a relatively good situation. You have been in the labour market for only three months, which I do not consider long enough to provoke angst or despondency......

As incredible as it sounds, I intentionally did not make 1st Class because I already knew the implications in a country like Nigeria. It puts too much pressure on you and makes it more humiliating when things don't go your way after graduation. I easily made a 'strong 2.1' even with more than enough social life and extra-curricular activities. In spite of my 2.1, I have not been able to secure the sort of job I have always wanted, and I do not think it would have been any different if I made a 1st Class; probably would have been more humiliating and difficult to bear. Countless times I've done well in aptitude tests and interviews, only to later find out that some barely-literate dolts (with due respect) who can hardly string a decent sentence in English got the jobs through their connections and other back-door means. Sometimes when you interact with the characters that get employed in these great establishments (NCC, NNPC, NERC, Nigerian Breweries, etc), feelings of humiliation and sadness overwhelm you because you know that under normal and fair conditions, they are no match for you.

I happen to have a high standard in terms of employment, with a preference for government MDAs or multinational companies. All the small one-man company jobs or bank/marketing jobs that I have come across are just not my kind of thing, so for some time now I have opted for self-employment - earning a decent living by providing niche services with my own knowledge and skills. The income is not bad at all; certainly better than most of these small companies and even banks can pay entry level employees, with plenty freedom and flexibility for that matter. Sometimes I earn up to N100k for a week's work; other times I earn much less or nothing at all during dry spells, but it's all good. I am still looking out for my dream jobs - especially federal government jobs. Unfortunately, class of degree or even competence are rarely considered for these kinds of jobs. You can be a dullard with a pass degree for all they care, as long as you can get one senator or traditional ruler to intervene on your behalf, you will get the job. It's really sad, but there has to be a way somehow, one day.
Bros share with me this trade secret if you can. I believe your saying you deliberately made a 2.1. Had a friend then who did same. Its kinda funny but I see his reasons now.

Sorry to say but this connect-me-to-a-job-here-is-my-contact posts are quite .......................(insert appropriate adjective here).

Syenite I'm digging your posts. Thank you for taking out time to help with enquiries here. You keep saying just a first degree within accepted entry level age gap is ok to job hunt. While these jobs are not too easy to come by or competition very high. What about those above this 'entry level age'? What's their play?
