Governor Kayode Fayemi has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to turn NYSC camps into security training grounds to recruit "willing and able" graduates to join the military and the police.


Mr Fayemi pointed out that one of the cheapest and fastest ways to handle this was to amend the law setting up the National Youth Service Corps. If NYSC 'corpers' are converted into soldiers, they could be deployed to fight against Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, separatists and so on.

"With this, we can use the existing orientation camps to train willing and able graduates to reflect the security personnel under a special arrangement that will be worked out," the Ekiti governor said.

The american boxer, Deontay Wilder, has complained about the gloves that British fighter, Tyson Fury, will be using for their trilogy fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
During the routine glove inspection on Friday with Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) officials, Wilder’s team raised concerns over the horsehair that is used as padding inside Fury’s gloves, which are factory-made by Paffen Sport.

Both Wilder and Fury have been given four pairs of the same gloves to choose from for the fight.

However, one glove from each set was cut open by NSAC officials in order to prove that legitimate padding was being used.

But Wilder is not happy with the use of horsehair and insists Fury is able to separate it if he pushes and squeezes his gloves together, which reduces the amount of padding.

The hungry wedding photographer's spontaneous act of revenge has made headlines around the world, after he revealed on Reddit he deleted all a couple's photographs after being denied a meal.


"A friend got married a few days ago and wanting to save money, asked if I'd shoot it for them.

"I told him it's not really my forte but he convinced me by saying he didn't care if they were perfect: They were on a shoestring budget."

The photographer agreed to shoot the whole wedding day for only $250 - a small amount for a 10-hour event.

He revealed he followed the couple around for the whole day: "Following the bride as she goes from appointment to appointment before the ceremony, shooting the ceremony itself, speeches and people mingling [during the reception]."

Men of the Police force on Tuesday have arrested a driver for allegedly conspiring with criminal gangs to kidnap the passengers he genuinely loaded from a motor park.

He said the suspect, who “delivers” innocent citizens to kidnappers, operates on the major high ways in the North East and North West in contact with multiple kidnapping gangs.

According to reports, He will patiently wait for passengers to board his vehicle and once he has enough of these passengers, he moves from the park.

“We have terminated two channels linked to R. Kelly in accordance with our creator responsibility guidelines,” a YouTube spokesperson told AFP in a statement.

The “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, who for years reigned over the world of R&B, still has music available on YouTube music, where 137,000 people subscribe to the disgraced star, and third-party uploads of his songs are still allowed.
The removal follows years of protest from the #MuteRKelly movement. Long before the singer was indicted in four separate jurisdictions, the effort called to ban his music over long-standing abuse allegations.

The Nigerian Communications Commission has banned citizens below 18 years of age from registering and owning a SIM card in Nigeria.
This was contained in a draft copy of the modified Registration of Telephone Subscribers Regulations recently published on the commission’s website.

In the modified regulations, NCC required telecoms operators to only include anyone above the age of 18.

The new regulations reads in part, “Subscriber means a person not below the age of 18 years who subscribes to communications services by purchasing a subscription medium or entering into a subscription contract with a licensee.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says efforts are underway to increase the retirement age of teachers in Nigeria’s public service from 60 years to 65 years.
Osinbajo disclosed this on Tuesday while hosting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Oluwabunmi Anani, Maltina Teacher of the Year, 2020 Winner, as part of the 2021 World Teachers Day celebration.

A United Kingdom-based forensic expert, Dieye Willie-Harry, has denied claims that Nigerian soldiers shot at #EndSARS protesters with live high-velocity projectiles last October 20.
Willie-Harry told the Lagos State judicial panel enquiry that from his investigation, he was “99.999% sure” that the bullets fired by the military were blank bullets.

Governors of the 19 states in the North have opposed the call by their southern counterparts that the Presidency should be zoned to the South in 2023.

The Lagos state police have arrested Oluchi Okoye alias PACA for tying Reuben Alozie to a stake over unpaid N4.6miliom debt.

The suspect tied up the debtor at No. 29 Abeokuta street from September 22nd to 23rd when Alozie was rescued by officers.

The National Youth Service Corps has advised corps members to establish and maintain personal relationships with their abductors in the event of being kidnapped.

“Establish a personal relationship with your captors as early as possible,” the national service department said in a security advisory that underscored the severity of Nigeria’s perennial insecurity. “Do not antagonise your captors, be polite and operate with reasonable regards.”

A section of the handbook, which has since gone viral on social media states; “When travelling on high risks roads such as Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja-Lokoja-Okene or Aba-Port Harcourt roads, then alert your family members, friends and colleagues, in order to have someone on hand to pay off the ransom that could be demanded.”
